Chapter 986: Heaven's Punishment

~7 min read 1,242 words

Xing shouted, her voice full of shock, "That cat‑ear robber who ripped us off for a sky‑high price in the daytime! Why are you here?"

"It's me, the cat!"

"What robber? That's called contributing to Luofu's economic development!"

Sai Fei Er laughed and flicked her Tail, "And you didn't lose anything either; we acted as your local guide, the fee's already very friendly."

"You call that a local guide?"

Xing's mouth twitched as a chaotic scene of being dragged across the ground in daylight flashed through her mind, "You treated us like a roaming wallet!"

Sai Fei Er smiled even more smugly, shifted aside, revealing another figure behind her.

It was a green‑haired, folded‑ear girl, crouching in the shadow of a slightly farther chimney, clutching a Command Flag, shoulders hunched, looking timid as if the spectacle had scared her badly.

Xing recognized at a glance; it was Huo Huo, apparently from the Ten Kings Office.

After all, she had read countless missing‑person notices.

And now, in the dead of night, she's actually here too.

"Huo Huo too?"

Xing was even more bewildered this time, "Why are you up here on the roof at midnight, not sleeping? Watching fireworks?"

Sai Fei Er didn't follow up, just pointed toward the glacier, "Ignore that! Watch the show! It's a grand, all‑natural spectacle, free admission!"

Xing subconsciously looked in the direction she pointed.

With just that glance, she was completely stunned.

The distant exploded glacier was "melting" in a wildly unscientific way, but this dissolution differed from any melting she had ever seen.

The massive ice chunks didn't turn into water; instead, they fractured from the edges into countless white Bubbles.

Bubbles first emerged from the most fissured spot—initially only dozens, then hundreds, and eventually the whole ice wall seemed boiled, with white Bubbles surfacing layer after layer.

Each time a slab of ice collapsed, countless Bubbles spewed from the gap, as if some force was gradually turning the glacier's interior into foam.

The white Bubbles rose into the air, drifting slowly, illuminated by a teal‑yellow glow, resembling snow falling upward against gravity.

"Well, that's something…"

Xing opened her mouth, and those words rolled out of her throat.

The glacier kept reshaping, the once‑hard ice surface blown by an invisible mouth into massive foam piles.

Moonlight filtered through, the Bubbles' surfaces shimmering with a thin rainbow sheen, while their interiors glowed faintly teal‑yellow.

That hue made them look oddly fragile, as if a gentle touch would make the whole glacier "snap" and shatter.

Xing watched intently, the reflected light on the ice dancing constantly in her golden pupils.

She suddenly recalled her baseball bat; looking down, she saw it still smeared with disgusting marks left by the demonic shadow body.

She hurriedly brushed the rooftop edge, slid the bat head along the wall tiles, then looked up at Sai Fei Er: "So that moment earlier—were you the one who pulled me up? What exactly is your ability?"

"It's a secret."

Sai Fei Er squeezed her eyes at her, her Tail lazily drawing a circle behind her, "All you need to know is we run faster than the wind, faster than those eye‑covered ugly things."

"Those eye‑covered ugly things haven't been dealt with yet."

Xing suddenly remembered, turning back toward the direction they came, "They couldn't have climbed up here, could they?"

"No way!"

Sai Fei Er said confidently, "When the ice over there exploded, they were scattered long ago. You didn't see it— that wave of Ice Shards just passed, flattening half the street. Even if those eye monsters keep growing, they can't withstand being frozen into ice statues and then smashed."

Xing recalled the torrent of shattered ice, her heart still racing as she touched the back of her head, confirming her skull was still firmly attached to her neck.

She exhaled, plopped her bottom onto the rooftop edge, legs dangling over the side, laying the baseball bat horizontally across her knees.

"Those Bubbles are just like when we dealt with Jing Liu earlier~"

A "buzz" rang in Xing's mind, as if a string had been plucked.

She looked at Huo Huo, then at Sai Fei Er, then back at the endlessly surging sea of Bubbles, her tone a bit dazed: "Wait, you mean this thing is connected to that gray‑white‑haired demonic shadow we just faced?"

Sai Fei Er glanced back at her, a hint of mischief in her eyes: "Take a guess~"

"I'll guess, you fool!"

Xing jabbed the baseball bat into the ground, shaking a few small stones off the rooftop, "Besides guessing, what else can you say? My phone's frozen solid; I'm basically offline. Can you give me some actual info!"

Sai Fei Er gave a light hop, rose from the edge, her Tail lazily looping half a circle behind her.

She leaned close to Xing, pointed at the center of the distant bubbling mass, her tone suddenly soft, as if sharing a secret: "Do you see that core of light in the middle? The brightest spot—those Bubbles aren't just popping randomly; they're eating the ice. When the ice is gone, whatever's beneath will emerge."

Xing followed her finger's direction and indeed saw a particularly dazzling bright spot at the glacier's core.

The white Bubbles seemed drawn by something, constantly converging there, then exploding, each burst emitting a spray of tiny golden arcs.

The entire icefield glowed under the moon with a sickly yet gorgeous sheen, like a massive white flower rotting.

Xing stared at it for a while, then suddenly felt her eyes ache, as if the light were piercing deep into her pupils.

She blinked hard a few times, looked away, but thought:

My whole night feels like I've gone from a trash can straight onto an apocalyptic film set.

"So what do we do now?"

Xing asked, her voice carrying a resigned nonchalance, "Just stay here and watch? I'll hold my breath; when that thing emerges, I'll at most shout encouragement."

Sai Fei Er glanced at her, a smile curling her mouth, "Don't worry, if it gets that far, this cat will snatch you to safety first. But for now, enjoy the show; a spectacle like this may never happen in a lifetime!"

Before she finished speaking, a piercing, razor‑sharp sound ripped through the sky, as if something had split the clouds in half.

The three looked up together and saw a massive ice‑blue Light Blade descending from the heavens, its whole body wrapped in an extreme‑cold vortex, wielding force enough to cleave mountains, slamming heavily into the heart of the cracking glacier.

The moment the Ice Blade struck, the entire sky turned white, the teal‑yellow light scattering as the cold churned it into spray.

A gust rolled in from afar; even at that distance, the high‑rise's clothes fluttered wildly.

Xing grabbed the nearby railing, her body blown backward, yet her eyes fixed firmly on the descending Ice Blade.

She knew whose hand had crafted it.

That white‑haired Sword Leader, made a move!

And this time, the scale of that sword was larger than before, as if it were going to cut the whole glacier and everything inside it into two pieces.

"Heaven's punishment,".

Xing muttered, and the whole person was stunned.

Sai Fei Er was excited beside him, two claws clenched into fists and flailing in the air: "Here it comes, here it comes! Jing Liu is unleashing the ultimate move! This ticket price is totally worth it!"
