Chapter 2233: Rushing through the ages
Once the flame spread, it didn’t take long for the other tribes to figure out how to use the flames.
With the flames, they started to cook their food just like the first tribe.
At the same time, they started learning of the different things that they could do with the flames.
Some of them figured out that they could use the flames to boil herbs and extract their essence. They found that these things were actually beneficial to the human body, helping them recover from things that had harmed them.
Others learned that they could use the flames to treat things that would make them stronger. So they started using the flames to melt things to coat their tools and weapons in.
Only not everyone seemed to be using the flames for positive things.
There were those that seemed to be using the flames to create things that were specifically used to harm others.
Just like how there were those that melted plants to create medicine, there were also those that melted plants to create poisons. After all, medicine and poison were just two sides of the same coin.
If one used the knowledge for other purposes, it was easy for them to create these dangerous things.
But that was just part of the world developing, which was why I didn’t stop them from doing all these things.
After all, good and evil were needed for development.
One might think that a god should provide a utopia for their people, but there was a reason why gods allowed mortals to suffer.
It’s only by going through the good and bad in life that they were able to figure out all kinds of things.
It was like what a scientist named Darwin had said in my past life, it was all about survival of the fittest.
Giving them everything and not allowing them to take any risks prevented them from developing the way that they did.
However, there were a few things that I did stop.
"That will wipe them all out, I can’t let that happen."
From time to time, there were these natural disasters that if left alone would have wiped out all of the humans in this world.
Since I was capable of stopping them, I used my powers to stop them.
The reason that I was here was to watch them develop and it wouldn’t benefit me if they were all wiped out by these natural disasters.
So it could be said that I was a benevolent god.
Though in terms of interference, I always chose to use the path that provided the least interference. Which meant that even if I did stop natural disasters, I didn’t stop them completely.
I still allowed the humans of this world to experience parts of this disaster so that they would grow from it. They learned how to adapt and how to overcome these natural disasters.
Though there were still casualties in the end.
"You can’t bake a cake without breaking a few eggs."
That was the mentality that I had when I saw these casualties.
However, there was a part of me that couldn’t help feeling a bit shocked at how numb I was to this. After all, this wasn’t just some game on the screen that I was watching, this was a real world with real people.
They were created by the gods for something, but that didn’t make them any less real.
In the end, I just compartmentalized this as something that was necessary.
I had to do this for the people that I cared about.
The more that I did this, the more skilled I became at using the system interface that was in front of me.
"I should be able to go a bit faster now."
I had remained on the two times setting since I wasn’t certain I would be able to keep up if I did make it any faster. There was no three times or four times speed, it was a direct jump to five times speed which I considered a bit fast.
If I were to go at that speed, years would pass by in a few minutes.
Unless I spread out my divine energy, I really couldn’t keep up with everything that was there. So that was why I was only ready now that I had gotten used to observing them like this.
I would still be able to react if something were to happen.
Though when it came to actually doing something, I always made sure to pause.
It really felt like playing one of those strategy games in my past life.
I would always skip past the parts that were routine and boring and I would only pause when something big happened that required my attention.
Since I had prepared everything, I pressed the five times speed button and watched.
This feeling was completely different from before.
This time, things really started to speed up.
There were structures built in a matter of seconds and there were generations that passed within minutes. It really was like watching little ants in a sped up ant farm, building an entire society.
Since there was good and bad in this world, there were tribes that rose and fell.
It was just like human history with how they formed groups and then collapsed once they became corrupt.
It seemed like this was just the destiny of all humans when they developed.
But that didn’t mean that the humans in this world fell apart when those large groups fell.
They were able to develop technology that spread all throughout the world.
With this technology, they were able to develop farming and break free of having to rely on hunting and gathering for food. Once they broke free, there were those that started working on more intellectual studies.
The one thing that I had to note was that there was no magic or anything special in this world.
"Is this world going to develop like the one that I lived in before?"
