Chapter 9: Eating Qi

~11 min read 2,044 words

"Come, I will teach you the breathing method first. All spiritual beings in the world swallow spiritual Qi based on this method.

"Breathing, which is breathing, everyone is born with it. However, if you want to eat spiritual Qi, there is great knowledge in it.

"Nose exhale and mouth inhale? Long exhale and short inhale? And day and night, four seasons, directions are different, breathing is different. What's more, for the sake of breathing, building high buildings, setting up wide altars, burying one's own body, practicing to the subtle and high level, one inhale dries the river and lake, one exhale manifests the morning glow."

"I will pass you a method now. It has no name. It is a remnant found by the fourth-generation ancestor of Mount Mingzhi from an ancient ruin. We just call it the Five-Character Curse. This is a method specifically for eating the five-element Qi, responding to the time of the four seasons, combining the five internal organs of the physical body, using breathing as the foundation, using curse arts as the lead, and at the same time, it can be combined with other body array methods, external alchemy methods, and contemplation methods. It is a pragmatic and thorough magic."

After saying that, Su Kong pointed at Yunqi's brow with the jade ruyi. When they intersected, brilliance surged.

The jade ruyi pointed, Yunqi closed his eyes subconsciously. First, he felt a coolness at his brow, and then he saw five ancient characters in the darkness.

He had never seen these characters before. It was a strange font, but looking closely, it was somewhat familiar. Soon, he remembered, this seemed to be Yunli, but it should be that more ancient Yunli.

There was blood ink written in Yunli on the jade pendant at his waist. It was exactly the three characters Cheng Yunqi. Feng Jihu had taught him, but at this moment, these five ancient Yunli characters in the darkness had never been taught by anyone, but he could read the syllables:

【Xu】, 【He】, 【Hu】, 【Si】, 【Chui】.

"Come, get up."

Yunqi stood up when he heard this.

"Stand with both feet apart, shoulder-width apart, head straight and neck straight, contain the chest and pull the back, relax the waist and relax the crotch, knees slightly bent, whole body relaxed, breathing naturally."

Yunqi did as he was told, posing in a posture.

"Force sinks to the heels, lift the anus and shrink the kidneys, follow the abdominal breathing, exhale first and then inhale, exhale long Qi, read the character when exhaling, tongue against the lower teeth, tongue surface pressed down, 【He】 character, read!"

So Yunqi read that syllable when exhaling.

"The big toe of the foot lightly touches the ground, both hands palms inward lifted from the front of the abdomen, through the front of the body to the middle of the two breasts on the chest, flip the palms outward, lift to the eye position. Be slow!"

Yunqi only felt that this move spit out all the turbid Qi in his body.

"When the Qi is exhausted, inhale, flip the palms towards the face, pass through the front of the face, the front of the chest and abdomen, slowly fall, hang on the side of the body, okay, close."

"Come again."

Six times like this.

After exhaling the turbid Qi for the sixth time, Yunqi inhaled naturally.

But this time, he felt something different. A warm stream of Qi was inhaled into his mouth. Before he could react, this stream of Qi was swallowed into his throat, and soon, his chest also warmed up.

Su Kong instantly noticed the different spirit in Yunqi's eyes,

"You ate Qi?"

Yunqi's breathing was interrupted, but he didn't feel uncomfortable. Instead, he felt a bit relaxed. The breathing just now made him feel a trace of fatigue, thinking that this should be the rhythm of this breathing method.

He replied: "Just now a warm stream was inhaled into the mouth, followed the throat down, and soon, there was warmth in the heart."

"You ate Qi."

Su Kong repeated it, and a smile appeared on her face, "You can go to the Du Jiao Institute to get the bonus."

"Hmm?"

Yunqi was a little puzzled.

"Six breaths to eat Qi, should be on the Nandu List."

Yunqi was also very happy to hear this. From the Master Yu's reaction, this should be a good result. Before, he had been worried that he was a genius in the secular world, recognizing characters at one year old, exercising at two years old, having a photographic memory at three years old, practicing clear spiritual Qi at five years old, and having nothing to teach at ten years old. But the mountain and the secular world were two different worlds. If he didn't enter the gate, he would definitely regret it for life.

Fortunately, it seems that in the mountain, he is not bad.

"Very good, rest for a while, remember the essentials just now."

Yunqi nodded, closing his eyes to recall the rhythm of exhaling and the essentials of the movements just now.

After about half a quarter of an hour, Su Kong signaled to continue.

After adjusting his breath, Yunqi felt much better, and the feeling of exhaustion had disappeared.

"Lips slightly closed, form a horizontal force, tongue tip forward, at the same time slightly shrink inward, upper and lower teeth leave a gap, exhale, 【Xu】 character, read!" "Both hands lifted from the front of the abdomen, still be slow, back of hands facing each other, pass through the ribs to be level with the shoulders, both arms like birds spreading wings upward, split to the left

"Higher!"

"Look inward with both eyes, and widen them with the rhythm of your exhalation."

"Good. When the breath is exhausted, inhale, bend your arms, and let both hands slowly descend in front of your face and chest, hanging by your sides. Good. Six times like this constitutes one round of breathing."

This time, Cheng Yunqi felt a mass of cool energy being inhaled. The cool energy escaped into his throat and then vanished. Immediately after, he felt a patch of coolness in his upper right abdomen, and along with it, his vision became much clearer.

Cheng Yunqi knew that was the location of the liver.

Next, under the guidance of Daoist Sukong, Cheng Yunqi tried the three breathing formulas of 'He', 'Si', and 'Chui' in succession, consuming the Earth, Metal, and Water Qi of the Five Elements into his spleen, lungs, and kidneys, respectively.

"You are very good."

Daoist Sukong said earnestly. In her view, this disciple was truly easy to teach. Nothing needed to be said twice; there was no need to struggle to explain the pronunciation of each mantra or the key points of each movement. With the method of 'pouring nectar on the crown' combined with some oral instructions, he could be taught very easily.

Cheng Yunqi performed a salute, "The Master's guidance is excellent."

He also spoke very earnestly. In his view, this teacher was truly brilliant—her words were concise and hit the mark, without a single wasted sentence. The magic that directly projected ancient language into his mind was truly miraculous, saving a great deal of time.

"Let's stop here for today. You should practice these five mantra characters. Remember, you must combine them with the timing of heaven and the terrain of earth. This method of exhaling six times constitutes one layer. When you have practiced to the ninth layer, or when you find you can no longer consume Qi, come find me again."

"Cannot consume?"

Cheng Yunqi was somewhat puzzled.

Daoist Sukong explained: "No matter how big the stomach is, there is always a time when it is full."

Cheng Yunqi understood, nodded in agreement, and prepared to take his leave.

"By the way, while consuming Qi, there is one more thing."

"Please instruct me, Master."

"In cultivation, the method cannot be separated from the thought, and the thought cannot be separated from the method. When the thought moves, the Qi follows; when the thought arrives, the Qi arrives. If this thought scatters, no amount of spiritual energy will be of any use. When consuming Qi, you must concentrate your thoughts. I have a method for this. To practice this method, you must first build a Daoist palace in your mind."

"This Daoist palace cannot be copied from the mountains or books; you must imagine it out of thin air. The more magnificent, the better; the more complex, the better. Halls, terraces, towers, pavilions, pagodas, altars... build them as you wish. But many things cannot be missing: steps, doors, windows, walls, courtyards—be extremely detailed and let your imagination run wild."

"Only one point must be made clear: the beams, pillars, brackets, arches, bricks, tiles, and lacquer—these most basic things must follow the standards and rules; you must not imagine them wildly."

Cheng Yunqi thought for a moment, feeling it was not simple, so he asked, "I wonder if there is a time limit?"

Daoist Sukong said: "There is no limit. When you come next time, I will go in and look. However much you have built, that is how much there is. Also, remember, when building in your mind, you must not borrow from objects, and you must not put pen to paper to draft it."

Cheng Yunqi agreed, then asked: "Since it is my Daoist palace, there must be a main deity worshipped within. I wonder which deity the disciple should worship in the Daoist palace in my mind?"

Daoist Sukong was somewhat surprised upon hearing this. She looked deeply at Cheng Yunqi before saying:

"You truly have no small amount of talent. My original intention was only to teach you the technique of concentrating thoughts, but since you have asked this, I will say a few more words."

"You must understand that the Five Elements Qi required when opening the mansion is massive, and the quality and meaning should be as lofty as possible. If you want to open the mansion early, the visualization method is unavoidable. Contemplating the inner landscape gods within the body's acupoints is a matter of time."

"Since you have now brought up which deity to worship in the mind's Daoist palace, I think, if you truly have the spare energy, why not think now about what kind of Five Elements Qi you intend to consume when opening the mansion, and which inner landscape god you wish to contemplate? If you contemplate their divine image now, when the time comes to walk out of the palace in your mind and reside in the acupoints of your organs, it will naturally fall into place."

"You have just entered the sect, so I might as well speak more clearly. For these inner landscape gods, if the rank is too high, it is not good, as it is difficult to contemplate their divinity; if the rank is too low, it is not good, as it is of no benefit to cultivation. If the time of attaining the Dao is too far, it is not good, as the connection to the spiritual energy of this ever-changing heaven and earth is weak; if the time of attaining the Dao is too near, it is not good, as it is easy to form karmic ties. If they are of human origin, it is not good, as you must beware of the dove occupying the magpie's nest. Conversely, those of the demon, ghost, essence, or spirit kind are acceptable."

Cheng Yunqi nodded, lost in thought, and asked again:

"May I ask the Master, for constructing the Daoist palace, the disciple can still go to observe real objects and read regulations to understand the standard requirements, but how can the disciple find the divine charm of the inner landscape god?"

"There is an illustrated manual of ancient gods and demon spirits within the sect. You can view the images and contemplate them. Later, when you leave the sect to travel, if you see temples in the mountains and wilderness, you might as well stop and stay."

Cheng Yunqi said yes, and then took his leave.

Already signed.

The new book is presented. I hope everyone will leave more messages and comments.
