Vol. 5 Ch. 106
"The fierce wind swept through, dispersing the thick smoke that had shrouded the battlefield.
At that moment, the ancient malevolence that had slumbered for millennia finally awakened.
Boom!
A single step from the entity near the Wind Tower caused the ground to tremble violently, and even the surrounding buildings swayed precariously.
Its colossal body was so enormous that no one could fully take in its form at such close proximity.
From above, guttural roars echoed—roars laden with grievances suppressed for tens of thousands of years.
Leon tilted his head upward, catching sight of the massive form of Ultimate Fear. Its size was so overwhelming that even from the ground, its head was obscured from view. All he could see were two piercing, crimson glows peeking through the dense clouds.
The oppressive aura radiating from Ultimate Fear sent chills through the spines of the Dragon Kings standing behind Leon. Even Constantine, who prided himself on his strength, had never encountered an adversary of such overwhelming might.
“This terrifying creature... How did the Primordial Dragon King manage to seal it back then?”
Even Odin, known for his unshakable confidence, couldn’t help but marvel at its power while pondering the fateful battle from ages past.
As Ultimate Fear’s oppressive presence bore down on them, making it nearly impossible to breathe, Nova stepped forward. With a single step, a radiant ripple of white energy surged outward from beneath her feet, dispelling the suffocating pressure that had paralyzed the Dragon Kings.
“She said that when she sealed Ultimate Fear before, it wasn’t nearly as powerful as it is now.”
Protected by the spirit of her ancestor, Nova was immune to Ultimate Fear’s influence. Drawing on this inherited power, she erected an energy barrier to shield the gathered Dragon Kings from the overwhelming force.
“After millennia of suppression and accumulated power, Ultimate Fear has grown several times stronger than it was back then,” Nova said with a sigh, her gaze fixed firmly on the sharp glow of its eyes cutting through the clouds.
“And it awakened earlier than expected… I haven’t had enough time to grow strong enough to…”
“To fully harness all of Noah’s power,” Nova murmured, trailing off.
A soft hand rested on her shoulder. She turned to see her aunt, Isha, who gazed at her with a gentle yet resolute expression.
“Do what you can, Nova. I’m sure the Primordial Dragon King would say the same.”
“Isha Auntie…”
“She’s right,” Odin said as he approached, standing at Nova’s other side. While he maintained a respectful distance, his firm tone conveyed his unwavering support.
The elder Thunder Dragon King’s voice was calm as he spoke. “Nova, listen. The Primordial Dragon King chose you and entrusted you with their power. That alone is proof that you’re worthy, Princess of the Silver Dragons.”
Odin added with a rare smile, “And let’s not forget, you have two exceptional parents supporting you, young lady.”
“Helena believes in you, Nova,” Odin continued, referencing the Sea Dragon Princess. “No matter what happens, she has faith in you. And because of that, so do I.”
“Why does everyone sound so dramatic? The fight hasn’t even started yet!”
“Hey! Old man, don’t glare at me like that! I’m not trying to ruin the mood; I just think you’ve all said enough encouraging things!”
The energy field generated by Nova’s original magic could resist the oppressive aura of Ultimate Fear, but it couldn’t entirely dispel the lingering tension in the air.
The Dragon Kings’ words of encouragement, born from their own resolve, were vital in reigniting their morale.
Nova’s eyes glistened with unshed tears as she glanced toward her parents.
Leon and Rosvisser stood side by side, silent but radiating unwavering confidence.
At that moment, they didn’t need to say anything. Their presence alone was the greatest affirmation of Nova’s strength.
“In the face of despair, even the smallest glimmer of hope shines blindingly bright,” Shadow sneered.
“But soon, you won’t even have that. Ultimate Fear will turn all of you into stepping stones for the reset of this world.”
Boom!
The towering colossus began to move.
Leon and the others quickly prepared for the second round of battle.
“Constantine, you and Senior Claudia, Senior Odin, and Nova handle Shadow. Morgan, my sister, and Rosvisser will join me against Ultimate Fear.”
“Understood.”
In the end, they had no choice but to face Ultimate Fear head-on.
But they couldn’t afford to let Shadow run rampant either.
Leon had gauged Shadow’s strength during their earlier skirmish. It was formidable but not insurmountable.
With Constantine and Odin working together, they could likely keep Shadow occupied for a considerable amount of time.
Adding Claudia’s support and Nova’s original magic would ensure that even if they couldn’t defeat Shadow, he wouldn’t have the chance to interfere with the battle against Ultimate Fear.
This strategy split the battlefield, allowing Leon and his group to focus entirely on the larger threat.
“Let’s go!”
With a resounding roar, a red blur shot forward. Isha transformed into her dragon form and charged toward Ultimate Fear at breakneck speed.
The Red Dragons were renowned for their physical strength, but even so, Ultimate Fear’s size dwarfed Isha’s by at least three hundred times.
Her attack seemed futile—
“ROAR!!”
The crimson dragon collided with Ultimate Fear, forcing its massive body to stagger backward by several hundred meters.
Its colossal claws dug deep trenches into the ground as it steadied itself, then threw its head back and bellowed in rage.
Just as the group began to think the initial attack had been effective, Ultimate Fear suddenly stopped moving.
No matter how much force Isha exerted, she couldn’t push it back any further.
“You’re tougher than I thought…”
Ultimate Fear raised one of its massive forelimbs, its claws locking onto Isha’s dragon form.
In a single swift motion, it lifted her as if she were no more than a kitten, then hurled her hundreds of meters away.
Boom!
Isha crashed to the ground, demolishing several city blocks before finally coming to a halt.
“Sis! Are you okay?” Rosvisser called out urgently.
The crimson dragon rose from the rubble, shaking off debris and dust. Her fiery gaze remained locked on the monstrous figure of Ultimate Fear.
“I’m fine… but its strength is on an entirely different level,” she admitted through gritted teeth.
"In their first clash, Ultimate Fear demonstrated its unmatched physical power and resilience.
While Isha launched her assault against Ultimate Fear, Leon and the Falcon Squad moved stealthily to its rear.
The creature’s sheer height was so immense that clouds partially obscured it from view, yet Leon could still make out the majority of its enormous form.
“What an… enormous monstrosity,” Leon muttered, his voice tinged with a rare mixture of awe and apprehension.
In all his past battles, Leon had never faced an enemy like this.
Ultimate Fear was unlike anything he had ever encountered.
It was the kind of opponent whose overwhelming presence alone was enough to convey its terrifying strength, even without exchanging a single blow.
The pressure radiating from its gigantic frame could easily crush even the most powerful Dragon Kings.
Leon raised his head, his dragon eyes flashing with determination as the stormy sky above churned with violent, crackling lightning.
“It’s about time,” he murmured.
From the thick cloud layers, a massive bolt of lightning broke free and shot toward Ultimate Fear.
“Let’s see if we can wear it down a bit—”
S-Class Thunder Magic: Dragon Annihilation
Flames and lightning converged in a dazzling spectacle, while turbulent streams of water surrounded the battlefield, prepared to exploit any opening.
Above, several glowing white orbs gathered, pulsing with energy.
Shadow found himself under relentless assault, trapped within the combined efforts of Odin, Constantine, and the others.
“This time, let’s see you dodge this!” Constantine bellowed, hurling a fiery blast directly at Shadow’s face.
Of all those present, Constantine was the most driven to kill Shadow.
It was Shadow who had orchestrated the repeated modifications to Constantine’s body, leaving him a fractured shell of his former self.
It was Shadow who had caused his uncontrollable rampage at St. Hist Academy, leading to Hefei’s expulsion.
It was Shadow who had slaughtered half the Crimson Flame Dragon Clan.
No one wanted Shadow dead more than Constantine.
But, as is often the case in battle, things seldom go as planned—
“Dodge? Who said I was planning to dodge?” Shadow sneered.
With those words, Shadow extended his palm, and a pitch-black orb of energy began to form within it.
Constantine’s eyes widened in recognition, his expression darkening.“Not good! Everyone, get back!”
The moment the orb touched the ground, it exploded in a devastating blast.
The resulting shockwave scattered the group’s attacks and rippled outward with incredible force.
Fortunately, Constantine had reacted swiftly, shouting his warning in time for Claudia and the others to retreat to a safe distance.
Of course, “safe” was a relative term—the magic barrier they had erected still strained under the explosion’s power.
Constantine skidded to a stop, dragging his warhammer along the ground and leaving a deep groove in the earth.
Odin shielded himself with his dragon wings, landing beside Constantine and asking in a low voice,“You’ve seen that move before?”
“Yeah,” Constantine replied, straightening and wiping the blood from the corner of his mouth. “That’s the same technique he used to destroy my sanctuary.”
The fury in Constantine’s dragon eyes burned brighter, his hatred and anger intensifying.
“I’ll kill him with my own hands,” Constantine growled.
“You won’t have to do it alone,” Odin replied.
With that, the Dragon Kings of fire and lightning charged forward once more, their forms streaking across the battlefield like twin comets—one red, the other blue.
“Bring it on!” Shadow roared, meeting their attack head-on.
The three clashed in a whirlwind of fire, lightning, and shadows.
The intensity of their battle—high-speed magical barrages and close-quarters combat—made it impossible for anyone else to intervene.
Meanwhile, Nova and Claudia focused intently on finding an opening to strike.
That opening came sooner than expected—though whether it was a blessing or a curse was debatable.
On the bright side, the opportunity arrived much earlier than anticipated.
On the downside, the opportunity came because Shadow had just sent Constantine and Odin flying, creating an opening for the others to act.
Claudia wasted no time, unleashing a series of water-based spells.
However, as a dragon more suited to support roles than direct combat, Claudia’s magic, while precise and skilled, lacked the raw power needed to harm Shadow significantly.
After enduring her attacks, Shadow brushed a few water droplets off his shoulder and scoffed.“Poseidon’s daughter, the Sea Dragon Princess—why don’t you stay in your little swamp with your family? What are you even doing here?”
“You can dig up that massive monster from its grave, but I can’t splash you with some water?” Claudia retorted, her tone dripping with sarcasm.
“You—!” Shadow sputtered, momentarily caught off guard.
According to his intelligence, Claudia Poseidon was supposed to be the epitome of elegance and stoicism.
Who could’ve guessed she’d be such a master of trash talk?
And she was good at it, too.
Shadow opened his mouth to respond, only to find himself at a loss for words.
At that moment, a voice rang out from another part of the battlefield.
“That’s it? That’s all you’ve got? Too slow, way too slow.”
“Hey, old zombie, where are you aiming? I’m right above you!”
“Aw, look who’s getting frustrated!”
A bead of sweat rolled down Shadow’s temple.
Now he understood where Claudia had learned her trash-talking skills.
“Leon Casmod… I should’ve sent more people to deal with you eight years ago,” Shadow muttered through gritted teeth.
“Eyes up! Your opponent is us!”
The voice came from above.
Shadow glanced upward to see Nova hovering in mid-air, her hands raised above her head, palms pressed together.
She stretched her body gracefully, gathering her magic into a crescent shape between her hands.
A-Class Original Magic: Thunder Crescent Strike
“Take this!” Nova shouted, hurling the crescent-shaped attack.
Wrapped in crackling lightning, the crescent streaked through the air in a perfect arc, hurtling toward Shadow at incredible speed.
Shadow reacted quickly, twisting his body just enough to narrowly avoid the attack.
Or so he thought.
A sharp sting on his cheek drew his attention, and he realized Nova’s strike had grazed him, leaving a shallow cut.
“Thunder Crescent Strike…” Shadow mused, touching the wound. “Hmph, it seems Mevis really has taught you a few tricks.”
Nova’s eyes widened, and she landed swiftly, her voice urgent.“You know Professor Mevis? What did you do to her?”
Shadow smirked darkly.“Don’t worry, little girl. You’ll find out soon enough—when she’s the one who kills you with her own hands.”
