Vol. 6 Ch. 111

During the battle on the border of the Silver Dragon Territory against the Void Realm, Moon and Aurora hadn't been present, so they didn't recognize Safina.

And now, seeing that the Void female warrior was about to get all touchy with his two daughters, Leon rushed forward without hesitation.

He pulled Moon and Aurora behind him with one arm and grabbed Safina's wrist with the other.

"Sorry, my daughters are a little shy. They don't like physical contact with strangers."

Of all the ways to reunite with someone from the Void Realm, he hadn't expected it to be like this.

Yet Safina didn't seem all that surprised to see Leon.

"Moon, Aurora, go find your sister and your mom."

"Okay, Daddy."

Out in public, they had to listen to Dad. The sisters remembered Grandma Cecilia's teachings well.

Once the two girls had walked off, Leon turned to Rebecca and gave her a look.

Rebecca understood instantly and quietly cocked the pistol hidden at her waist, then followed behind the little dragon girls. If anyone suspicious tried to approach them again, she'd immediately launch an aggressive strike, snatching them like a prisoner escape scene.

Only when the girls were at a safe distance did Leon begin to gradually disperse the lightning he'd been hiding in his hand, and casually ask:

"What are you doing in the Empire?"

It had been a while since the last battle. Who the hell knew what those Void freaks were scheming lately.

"I was able to pass the gods' racial trial using a human mimicry form-so how do you think I got that human form in the first place?"

Safina smiled. "Of course I bypassed the rules in advance. After all, the Mirror Abyss Eyes can't simulate forms of species it's never seen before."

"I asked what you're doing in the Empire now."

Leon's tone was still sharp and full of vigilance.

Safina had nearly touched Moon and Aurora earlier. After everything they'd been through, Leon now placed his children's safety above everything else. He would never allow anything that might cause them psychological trauma to enter his sphere of influence.

"Obviously we're here to find the Thunder Spirit Core. What else would we be doing in your old backyard? Sightseeing?" Safina paused, glanced at Leon's expression-he looked like he wanted to punch her right then and there-and sighed.

"Alright, alright, stop glaring at me. I wasn't actually going to do anything to your precious daughters. It's just... they're way cuter than their intel photos. I couldn't help but want to give them a little pat."

"Then your intelligence agents should've told you something else too-how much I treasure my daughters. If you hurt them, even once-whether we've shared drinks or had chats-I will kill you."

This time, the one who answered wasn't Safina, but a young man beside her.

"Then I guess your's intel network really is incomplete. Otherwise you'd already know-if you try to hurt her, I'll kill you too." Leon turned to the speaker, who had the same violet eyes and streaked hair as Safina.

Kaiser.

The two locked eyes, and the killing intent in the air was so thick it almost solidified.

Not only did it prevent anyone from making a move-it even made the stream of pedestrians instinctively avoid their vicinity. That pressure, that imminent sense of danger, made every passerby steer clear.

In the end, it was Safina who stepped between them and mediated.

"Come on, are you really going to start a fight here in front of all these civilians? A lot of bystanders will get hurt-though 'hurt' is a pretty euphemistic way to put it. With psychos like you two, just a couple moves and the whole city would be rubble."

Leon lowered his stance, and the murderous aura around him gradually faded.

"So, you really do have a way to track the Core's location."

"Oh? You saw through that too?"

Leon raised an eyebrow and looked at Safina.

At that moment, his gaze softened a little.

Safina stared into his eyes, unsure what caused this sudden shift.

Just a second ago, he was ready to kill her-and now, after a few words, he'd calmed down?

Leon didn't elaborate. He just continued,

"Then I'm guessing your method can only track a general area, not the Core's exact location, right?" "Well yeah, Camsod, you guessed right. Doesn't mean we're obligated to tell you everything." Safina pouted as she spoke.

From her reaction, Leon knew he'd hit the mark again.

"So how do you plan to find its exact location?"

"Obviously we're just gonna follow your ass. The moment you find it, we'll swoop in and snatch it—"

"You just said you wouldn't tell me anything, and now you lay it out like that, you bastard!"

Leon let out a breath, finally letting go of the tension in his body.

Safina was still the same Safina—a bold woman with seemingly no filter.

Maybe it wasn't the best way to describe an enemy, but Leon honestly didn't feel the kind of lethal animosity from her that he'd felt from former life-and-death enemies.

Maybe it was her hyperactive and outgoing nature-or maybe it was Kaiser's sister-complex that reminded him of certain people in his own family.

"Leon."

"What?"

"Do you have any leads on the Thunder Spirit Core? Share one?"

"This isn't the Trial of Divine Punishment anymore, Safina. We're not teammates."

"Aw, don't be stingy! Come on, you must've found some clue to be here in the Empire, right?"

Leon gave Kaiser a speechless look.

"Are all Void warriors like your sister?"

Kaiser's face froze. "...She's an exception."

From the look on his face, it was clear he'd long since resigned himself to this erratic, unrestrained sister.

Truth be told, Safina knew Leon wasn't going to share anything.

She was just making conversation, teasing him a little.

She thought Novelight (Continue reading) Leon was thin-skinned and fun to provoke. That was the real motivation. "Alright sis, let's follow the plan."

"OK."

With that, Kaiser turned and silently walked away.

Leon watched him, eyes following until he vanished into the crowd.

"The Lionheart Order's going to have to keep a close watch on that guy..."

Thinking that, Leon pulled his gaze back-only to find that Safina hadn't left with her brother.

"Your brother's gone. Why are you still here?"

"Following the plan," Safina said.

Leon rubbed his mouth. "Don't tell me your plan really is to follow me around?"

Clap-

The Void woman smacked her hands together with a grin and narrowed her eyes.

"Bingo Congrats, you got it right~"

"Kaiser handles scouring historical records and national documents from the past few years. I'm in charge of tailing you. That's our plan."

"See how good I am at sharing, Leon? And you-won't tell me anything."

Leon laced his fingers into his hair, grumbling, "How is that the same thing!"

At this point, he really wanted to drag Kaiser back and ask: How have you lived in peace with Safina all these years?

What held it together?

Love?

Sheer will?

"Oi!"

Safina gave his shoulder a light slap.

"Tell your friend she doesn't have to stay so tense while tailing your daughters. It's just the two of us-me and Kaiser. And we've agreed not to fight you unless it's absolutely necessary before we find the Core."

As she spoke, she looked around at the surrounding crowd. "Kaiser's always believed in the 'no violence unless necessary' rule. Me too. So..."

Safina returned her gaze to Leon, smiling as she said,

"Just go have fun with your family like you would normally. This time, there's no queue-cutting, no switching sides, no sucker punches. Let's just...

Have a fair and square race to see who finds the Core first."

Looking into Safina's sincere eyes and hearing that light yet unfoolish tone, Leon felt a flicker of warmth toward the woman rise

again.

"Sometimes I really don't understand you and Kaiser. Don't you worry Atos will punish you for this?"

At that, Safina simply gave a soft "hmph."

"Not your concern. We have-"

Before she could finish, her gaze shifted to something happening across the street.

She arched her brows and smiled. "Leon, rather than worry about us, you might want to worry about your two precious

daughters."

"What?"

Leon followed her line of sight.

Across the street, in front of a dessert shop, Moon ran toward a silver-haired figure and eagerly took her hand.

"Mom!"

But when the woman turned around, it wasn't Rosvisser.

Moon quickly let go. "Sorry, ma'am. I thought you were someone else."

The woman, with the same radiant silver hair as Rosvisser, slowly knelt down with a warm smile on her face.

"Little one, did you get separated from your mom?"

"Uuh..."

"Don't worry, sweetie. My name is Elusa. What's yours?"
