Chapter 206 : The Cycle Of Fate Continues
“Miss Adelina, I’m going to the restroom for a moment.”
Dorothy could feel the magic surging uncontrollably inside her.
Only now did she remember—she had run into Felyn earlier that evening, inside Daiyi’s luggage, no less. The situation had been so chaotic, and she’d been too focused on testing Adelina to process just how strange that had been.
Daiyi… who I thought I was close with… knows Felyn? And why did the two of them seem so… flirtatious?!
“Felyn… just how many girls do you know?!”
“There’s no way… you couldn’t possibly know every noble girl here, right?”
And yet, looking around, your world seems absolutely packed with beautiful girls.
Dorothy felt like she was going to lose it.
Everyone around her seemed to have something to do with her beloved Felyn.
As Dorothy made her short escape, Adelina was finally freed from her side.
Watching the way Dorothy fled, Adelina also sensed something wasn’t right. She turned and headed toward the ever-quiet Viloti.
“Miss Viloti, do you really think they’re just… cousins?”
“Mm,” Viloti responded simply.
“And what makes you so sure?”
“Felyn told me.”
“…And that’s it?”
“That’s it.”
Adelina stared blankly.
What did Felyn feed this girl to make her trust him so blindly?
“I just feel like… the way they look at each other isn’t how cousins look, right?”
Viloti didn’t answer.
She simply watched Felyn and Daiyi in silence, quietly memorizing Daiyi’s appearance.
A woman like a living statue, radiant and graceful—if she entered the fray, she would be the greatest threat of them all.
Adelina sighed and sat down, gazing out at the night sky.
The night’s events weren’t over yet.
Soon, Zervanie’s fan club would host theMagical Crystal Firework Display.
These fireworks, created through a blend of enchantments and magic-infused crystals, were unique—only when they bloomed in the sky would the sound of the explosions follow.
Even in the dead of night, they wouldn’t disturb the peace.
And tonight’s show was to be the largest the capital had ever seen.
Every street would have launch sites. The entire night sky would be painted in glowing sky-blue.
The darkness would be swept away—not by the sun, but by celebration.
Only the capital’s nobles and the upper clergy had the money and leisure for such grandeur.
Waves of support lights for Zervanie glowed in shifting hues, flowing like rivers of color through every corner of the streets.
“Miss Viloti, may I ask you something?”
“…Go ahead.”
“Why did you stop me from asking Felyn that question earlier?”
Adelina was referring to when she had tried to ask Felyn about his feelings, only to be intercepted by Viloti.
Viloti hesitated. She wanted to say:Because Felyn didn’t want to answer.
But she knew Adelina wouldn’t believe that.
And besides, it wasn’t her place to speak on Felyn’s behalf.
Now, both girls—each beautiful in their own distinct way—found themselves tangled in indecision.
If Viloti was like a delicate swirl of pastel gelato sealed inside a glass case, then Adelina was a velvet cake adorned with intricate detail—reserved, elegant, and quietly irresistible.
“…Miss Viloti, tonight I want to ask Felyn something.”
Seeing Viloti remain silent, Adelina rephrased.
After seeing Zervanie and Felyn together, she had hesitated.
Her question had been,“Does Felyn like me?”But now it had changed to something bolder—She was going to confess.
And after witnessing Felyn and Daiyi together, her resolve only strengthened.
She couldn’t keep hesitating. Felyn could meet another stunning girl at any moment.
Her rivals were multiplying.
And she didn’t want to keep tearing herself apart with doubts and second-guessing.
If she liked him, and thought he might feel the same—then what was stopping her?
Adelina might be shy when it came to love, but she wasn’t indecisive. Once she made up her mind, she acted.
She wasn’t really asking for Viloti’s opinion. She just wanted someone to talk to—someone to share the tension of her first confession with.
“…If Felyn is willing to listen, then ask him.”
Viloti understood what Adelina meant, but she didn’t stop her.
Even if it might hurt… saying nothing would only leave things stagnant.
Just like it had for her.
“You’re not curious what I’m going to ask?”
“I know. You’re going to confess to Felyn.”
“Was it that obvious?!”
Adelina covered her cheeks, checking if they were burning red.
Viloti shook her head.
“I could just… feel it.”
She had sensed Adelina’s nervousness. After all, she had once felt the exact same way.
No—wait.
Viloti’s gaze dimmed.
She remembered: she hadn’t actually confessed to Felyn yet.
She had only said “I like you” twice. The second time, back at Felyn’s home, her confession had been interrupted by Adelina knocking on the door.
What she had wanted to say to Adelina—“I like Felyn”—wasn’t the same as confessing directly to Felyn himself.
When it came to confessing… she was still behind.
“What do you think? Should I tell him?”
“You should.”
Adelina had expected some kind of objection. But instead, Viloti had answered without a shred of hesitation.
“If you don’t say it… nothing will ever change.”
“…Yeah.” Adelina nodded.
She reached out and poured tea for both of them.
“You’re not afraid I’ll steal Felyn away from you?”
“No. You can’t steal him.”
Viloti cradled her teacup and took a small sip.
“Then… shall we compete for him?”
“Compete in what?”
Adelina crossed her legs and leaned back in her chair.
“Do you remember… what happened when we were kids? In kindergarten?”
Viloti tilted her head, unsure what Adelina meant.
“Ah, of course. No one remembers something so boring.” Adelina gave a self-deprecating smile, “I wouldn’t either, if I hadn’t begged the gods to remember it. Back then, you took a position I wanted. And I’ve never forgotten that.”
She sat up straight, turning to face Viloti directly.
“Miss Viloti, let’s have a proper competition. Let’s see who truly belongs by Felyn’s side.”
She felt their lives had been intertwined by fate.
Years ago, they had competed because of Felyn—even if they hadn’t realized it.
And now, they were competing again.
But this time, it wasn’t for something as silly as class president.
It was for the one person in the world neither of them could bear to lose.
“…Alright, Miss Adelina.”
