Chapter 542 : A Somewhat Unexpected Trip to the Imperial Palace.
"Here you go."
Returning to the two girls, Felyn handed the bread to Viloti first, then to Zervanie.
"Viloti, I bought you a little bear doll that's baking bread." Felyn tore open the bread's packaging for Viloti. "Remember to pick it up when we get back."
"Mhm!"
Rising onto her tiptoes, Viloti gave Felyn a light peck on the cheek.
She blinked, seeming a little shy.
Viloti held the bread with both hands and tore off a small piece.
Beside her, Zervanie opened her mouth and took a huge bite.
Damn it!
"Viloti, can you still eat more?" Felyn was afraid the little pink-haired girl would overeat.
Viloti nodded, continuing to nibble on the bread in small bites.
"Felyn... am I eating too much? S-sorry..." Her eyelashes fluttered, and breadcrumbs still clung to the corner of her mouth.
"Not at all. Isn't it a good thing that my Viloti likes to eat?" Felyn wiped the corner of Viloti's mouth with his hand, removing the breadcrumbs for her.
Viloti looked at the bread, then at Felyn, and handed the half-eaten bread to him.
"Felyn, you have some."
Felyn didn't refuse and took a bite of the bread, breadcrumbs naturally appearing at the corner of his mouth as well.
Viloti pursed her lips, rose onto her tiptoes again, and kissed the corner of Felyn's mouth right at the school gate.
The tip of her tongue swept across, cleaning away all the breadcrumbs.
As she stood on her toes, Viloti's hands tightly gripped her skirt, the tips of her ears turning incredibly red.
The two slowly separated, her moist amber eyes shyly avoiding Felyn's gaze.
"Fe-Felyn... this... do you like it? If you're uncomfortable, I'll never do this kind of thing again. I don't know what came over me just now, I just saw you and wanted to... wanted to kiss you."
"I don't like it! I really don't like it!" Zervanie blocked Felyn, her long silver-white hair starting to float behind her.
Because of Viloti's initiative, the surrounding people also began to exclaim and gather around to watch.
In the midst of this chaotic scene, the special car to the imperial palace arrived.
---
After getting into the car, Felyn noticed that there were indeed many posters and souvenirs of a princess fighting a dragon on the streets.
Even the shops had launched princess-vs-dragon dolls.
He had spent most of this week by Daiyi's and Viloti's side and hadn't gone out, so he hadn't noticed that the entire Royal Capital District had quietly entered a festive frenzy.
A princess fighting a dragon... huh.
Felyn rubbed his temples. He happened to have both of these characters by his side.
Have Dorothy fight Seraphina?
For a moment, Felyn couldn't quite imagine that scene.
Viloti pressed tightly against Felyn's arm. Zervanie, sitting opposite them, pouted and turned her head to the side, no longer looking at the two of them.
Fortunately, there was no such thing as traffic jams in the Royal Capital District.
Ten minutes before Dorothy was due to arrive, they finally reached the imperial palace.
Located opposite the Saint Aber'an Confluence Cathedral, the palace was built entirely of purple magic crystal stones. Purple royal flags, held by heavily armored knights, were visible everywhere, rustling in the wind.
Every time Felyn came to the palace, he felt a sense of disbelief.
A few years ago, he was just a down-and-out noble, a commoner. Who would have thought that one day he would be able to step into the imperial palace?
The three of them walked on the neat stone-paved road, led by a squad of royal knights.
"Mr. Felyn, Miss Viloti, Miss Zervanie, good morning to you three."
At the palace entrance, the one who greeted them was the empire's third princess, Lecia.
Beneath her ice-blue short hair, a pair of eyes somewhat similar to Dorothy's sized Felyn up, a slight smile playing on her lips.
"Mr. Felyn, please come with me to my father's study. He is waiting for you there. Miss Zervanie and Miss Viloti, please wait in the lounge for a while."
"Eh? Aren't we going to the main hall?"
Lecia shook her head and took a step back, not explaining much. "Let's go, Mr. Felyn. Father is waiting for you."
"Your Highness, if I may be so bold as to ask one more question," Felyn raised his hand to ask, "Her Highness Dorothy isn't also in the study, is she?"
Lecia blinked, not understanding Felyn's meaning. "My sister hasn't returned yet. Does Mr. Felyn wish to see her?"
Felyn was just afraid that Dorothy was waiting for him in the study.
He was afraid that Dorothy and Lecia had conspired to lure him into the study, and then he would be locked up by Dorothy for a lifetime.
Lecia deliberately lingered by Felyn's side. "My sister is very gentle and generous on the surface, and also very lively in private. But sometimes, she's a bit too lively. I, on the other hand, quite admire Mr. Felyn."
She covered her face with a fan. "I'm not trying to drive a wedge between you and my sister. It's just that when you get tired of being with my sister, you can come and chat with me."
Lecia knew very well that her father placed great importance on Felyn.
Anything related to him, her father would give special attention to.
During the previous crisis in Varil Village, her father had directly approved the Fifth Knight Order to accompany Princess Dorothy on the expedition. In the past, approving a royal to lead troops was extremely troublesome.
However, even Lecia didn't know the reason; she didn't know what her father saw in Felyn.
Lecia saw that Viloti and Zervanie, who were beside Felyn, were looking at her with unfriendly eyes. She didn't back down, but instead gave them a gentle smile.
"Young ladies, I'll be taking your Felyn away for now. Please trouble yourselves to wait in the lounge for a bit. I believe it will be over soon."
From behind, Lecia and Dorothy's figures were indeed somewhat similar.
However, Lecia didn't have much magic power in her body, so she wouldn't stop developing at fourteen or fifteen like Dorothy.
She was like a larger version of Dorothy.
Her ice-blue short hair made her look completely different from the long-haired Princess Dorothy, more like the kind of older sister who likes to go out.
"Mr. Felyn, we've arrived. Please, go in."
Lecia brought Felyn to the door of the study and then stopped.
"Is Your Highness coming in as well?"
Her ice-blue short hair swayed from side to side. "Father is only seeing you."
Felyn pushed open the study door and walked in, finding it completely different from what he had imagined.
A king's study should be luxurious and spacious, but the Siveshus King's study was as small as Felyn's bedroom in the Mist Street district.
There were no guards, no maids, only the king sitting alone at his desk.
After Felyn entered the study, Lecia closed the door, leaving the two of them alone.
The king didn't look up, nor did he speak, just looked at the open book on his desk.
Out of professional habit, Felyn began to observe the man in front of him.
His eyes rarely blinked, focusing intently on the book before him.
A straight posture, broad shoulders—this was Dorothy's father, the King of the Siveshus Empire.
What did he summon me for?
Felyn stood in place, motionless.
He wasn't arrogant enough to question the king.
After a long time, the sound of a page turning finally came from the room.
"Rustle."
Time trickled by with the turning of the page.
---
And just as Felyn was waiting for the king to speak, a convoy of carriages arrived outside the palace.
The Fifth Princess, Dorothy, had returned.
She first went to communicate with the ministers about the morning's activities, then passed by her father's study on her way back to her bedroom to take a bath.
Dorothy thought her father had already met with Felyn.
Today was Felyn's award ceremony. After the meeting with the king, many ministers would escort Felyn out of the palace as a form of congratulations.
Therefore, it wasn't very convenient for Dorothy to appear in front of Felyn.
When Dorothy passed by the study, she found Lecia standing at the door.
"Sister Lecia, what are you doing here?"
"Your Brother Felyn has arrived. He's in the study chatting with Father right now. Didn't you know?"
"Eh?" Upon hearing Lecia's words, her purple eyes gradually widened. Dorothy quickly took two steps forward and leaned close to the study door.
"Dorothy, there's a sound-insulating sigil on the study. You won't be able to hear anything." Lecia shook her head, waiting for Dorothy to give up.
But Dorothy pressed herself against the door and faintly heard the voices of Felyn and her father talking.
The sound-insulating sigil had not been activated.
