Chapter 620 : Conversation in the Bedroom
Night fell quietly.
There were hardly any students left on Laurel Road. Most of them were in their dormitories, chatting, eating, or sleeping.
It seemed ordinary, yet it was a life that countless people in this world envied and missed.
Felyn's night was anything but ordinary.
Because the rose in his home had bloomed.
Felyn had drawn the curtains. Adelina sat at his desk, seriously looking at the notes Felyn and Daiyi had given her.
She had changed into a dark blue dress, and a Seiva necklace adorned her neck, resting on her chest.
The form-fitting dress perfectly accentuated her figure.
Adelina's figure was fuller compared to the other young ladies.
But this fullness was only relative; Adelina was still quite slim.
This could be seen from her slender waist.
"Adelina, you don't have to force yourself."
The night was quiet. Olivia and Sylvain had each returned to their rooms.
The scent of roses spread here.
Looking at Adelina's side profile under the desk lamp, Felyn suddenly felt as if he had returned to Adelina's bedroom in the Donk District.
Unknowingly, he had already walked a long part of his life with Adelina.
"It's fine, Felyn. I'm just a little surprised." Adelina frowned, not expecting that the gods of this world could be explained in this way.
Not seeing gods as gods, but as a set program, or a tool.
Adelina was also a genius young lady. Like Viloti, she understood it after just one look.
But Adelina had, after all, undergone more than ten years of church knowledge training. It was still a bit difficult for her to re-master Daiyi's theory.
"If gods are actually the result of the convergence of human faith," Adelina pointed to Daiyi's notes and looked back at Felyn, "then couldn't Zervanie also become a god?"
"That's indeed the case."
"It's good if she becomes a god, then she won't have to worry about worldly affairs." Adelina and Felyn shared a knowing smile. She used her smile to hide the unwillingness in her heart.
She supported her face with one hand and tugged at her skirt. "Did you also awaken your divine art through Daiyi's theory?"
"I'm a bit special."
Felyn's divine art awakening relied on that kiss from Dorothy, on her frantically and desperately transferring magical power.
"How about taking a break?"
The book was closed. Adelina curiously pulled open the curtains and looked out the window.
The moonlight was beautiful tonight.
"Daiyi will see you from her room," Felyn reminded.
Adelina quickly drew them shut, leaning against the window a little embarrassed. "We're not doing anything strange..."
A young man and a young woman staying in a room, even if they did nothing, was a very hot topic.
"Today was the first time I saw you doze off in class. Have you not been sleeping much recently?"
"You saw?" Adelina covered her face, her cheeks starting to turn red.
"I've wanted to ask for a long time, Adelina," Felyn walked to Adelina's side, looking at the blush appearing on her cheeks. "Why do you blush so easily?"
"D-Do I?" She touched her face with the back of her hand, her eyes blinking. "I was just worried that my dozing appearance was unsightly, a little regretful."
"Don't worry, it's very cute."
"Cu-Cute... cute... mmm..." Adelina squatted on the ground, burying her face in her chest, letting out shy whimpers.
Felyn called me cute!
So happy!
Felyn sat on the floor, maintaining the same height as Adelina.
"Adelina, why are you in such a hurry to awaken your divine art?"
Adelina revealed her moist eyes, her head still covered by her arms, her voice a little muffled.
"It's just that I saw Zervanie and the others all have divine arts, so..."
"Is it just because of that?"
Felyn's eyes made Adelina dodge a little. She moved her bare feet in slippers, moving a little further away from Felyn.
She hoped Felyn wouldn't pursue this question, but Felyn's persistence made it a little unbearable for Adelina.
"It's-it's because of you..."
She still said it.
Felyn said, "Was it the day we went to pick up Olivia, you saw Eitani solve a matter you thought was very troublesome, so you became obsessed with power?"
"Obsessed with power? You're making me sound like a bad character like the Demon King." Adelina's lips pouted. She finally looked up at Felyn.
"I am the daughter of the Claude family. There are many pairs of eyes watching me from inside and outside the empire. So... so I want to become stronger, strong enough to protect the most important people around me."
"Seeing Viloti and Zervanie by your side, Felyn, I'm afraid the divine art I awaken won't be powerful. I'm afraid I won't be qualified to join your team. I'm afraid I won't be qualified to stay by your side, Felyn."
Felyn moved to Adelina's side, leaning against the wall with her, watching the light in the room gradually dye the wall. "Adelina, you are already very amazing. The top student of the academy, first wherever you go. Looking at it this way, I'm not as good as you at all."
Adelina's arm touched Felyn's. "Didn't we agree today? Even if you are Felyn, you are not allowed to speak ill of Felyn."
Adelina was undoubtedly a genius, able to achieve first place among numerous candidates.
But once there was an important person in her heart, once love began to sprout, she would become anxious about personal gains and losses, and become sensitive.
Especially since Adelina was not yet with Felyn, and was even on the path of pursuing him, she would become even more nervous, full of anxiety about the unknown future.
In the end, she was afraid that she wouldn't be able to stay by Felyn's side in the future.
"It doesn't matter even if you don't awaken a very powerful divine art," Felyn comforted. "The divine arts of the Church of Order are already very powerful..."
"No, it's not enough at all," Adelina shook her head, her rose-tea colored long hair climbing onto Felyn's shoulder.
She tilted towards Felyn's side, leaning on his shoulder.
"Felyn, I still remember you once told me that you wanted to live in a small cabin by the lake, go fishing and sunbathe during the day, and come back at night to drink and watch the stars. Have a few children, and slowly watch them grow up. You wanted to spend your life in ordinary days, to let your life pass in ease."
"But... but such ordinariness is very difficult to achieve. If I'm not as powerful as Eitani or the dragon maiden, I won't be able to protect our world, I won't be able to let this ordinary life continue."
Ordinariness seemed particularly precious in the current empire.
Once war broke out, or once there was a rebellion within the empire, magical beasts, church members, and guards would all come to destroy Felyn's ordinary life.
You want ordinariness, but the world doesn't allow it.
Since the world doesn't allow it, then Adelina must stand up and block the entire world.
"Adelina..."
Felyn didn't expect that a casual sentence he said would be remembered by Adelina.
He also didn't expect that the reason Adelina worked so hard was because of this.
"Felyn, I know what you want to say."
Adelina knew that Felyn was advising her that there was no need to waste her bright future on such things.
"Whether it's shining in the political arena or fishing by the lake, as long as I'm with you, I will find anything interesting."
In this dim room, the two grayish-blue stars were incredibly bright.
