Chapter 44: The Terrifying Hell
Factory Director Yang called for his driver, traveled all the way to the Public Security Station, and met with Station Chief Zhang. After a brief exchange of pleasantries, the two immediately got down to business.
"Zhang Hao, I wonder how the investigation into the disappearance of our factory's Deputy Director Li is going?" Factory Director Yang had no intention of drinking tea; the truth was that while Li Huaide was around, things were fine, but now that he had disappeared, he had exposed many landmines that were waiting for him to go back and fill.
"Old Yang, there are already some leads. His family said that on the day of his disappearance, Li Huaide said he had a social engagement and went out to drink. Additionally, some people saw Li Huaide meeting with a few comrades of similar age and heading west before he disappeared. We are currently intensifying our search."
"Good. By the way, I received some news today saying that a female worker in our factory who had an unclear relationship with Li Huaide, Qin Huairu, has also disappeared. The timing is about the same. Do you think, could they be...?"
"Oh? In that case, I understand. This information is very useful. Sit for a moment, I will go make some arrangements." Zhang Hao stood up with lightning speed, walked outside, and passed the news down.
Soon, Qin Huairu's file was pulled out. Zhang Hao returned to the office with the file, and after receiving confirmation from Factory Director Yang, he scrambled to arrange for people to go out and conduct interviews.
In less than half a day, news came in, and the suspicious house was found.
Factory Director Yang and Zhang Hao, along with public security officers and having notified He Yuzhu and others, arrived in a grand procession at the suspicious house that had been identified.
"Hello, ma'am, is this house yours?" a young public security officer asked patiently with a smile.
"Yes, yes, yes, it's mine. My old man was a bachelor; he got sick and died two years ago, and the house was left to us. I've been renting it out, and the person renting the house looks a lot like the person in this photo you have." The old woman gestured wildly with spit flying, pointing at the photo of Li Huaide in the officer's hand. Li Huaide paid annual rent, and he hadn't paid this year's rent to her yet, so she was naturally anxious.
She hesitated a bit after seeing Qin Huairu's photo; she had only seen Liu Lan. Qin Huairu always came at night, and since it was pitch black, she had only bumped into her once or twice and hadn't really paid attention.
"Alright, thank you." The officer stepped back politely and reported to Zhang Hao and the others. Zhang Hao and Factory Director Yang naturally heard what the old woman said, nodded, and everyone began to take action.
After knocking on the door for a while, there was not the slightest movement inside. Two agile public security officers, with the help of their companions, easily vaulted over the wall and got inside.
"Chief Zhang, it's locked from the inside, there's no key." Soon, the officer's voice came from inside.
"Break it open."
"Yes!"
Accompanied by a *crack*, the door was opened from the inside, and the group walked in.
"Wait." Zhang Hao looked at the stiff dog nearby, gently flipped its lips with a wooden stick, pointed at the bloodstains on its mouth, and said, "There must be something fishy about this. Factory Director Yang, what do you think?"
Factory Director Yang nodded, stood up, and pointed at the pitch-black room, saying, "We'll know once we open it."
"Makes sense. Move out."
The group stopped in front of the door, which had its windows blocked and doors shut, making it impossible to see what was happening inside.
"Wait, there's a sound inside!" He Yuzhu stopped the officer who was about to knock, twitched his ears slightly, and said with a change in expression. At the same time, he felt a sense of relief in his heart; if possible, he still hoped Qin Huairu was alive. She should look after her own children; he didn't have the time for that.
The group approached the house one after another, holding their breath and listening intently.
"Crunch, crunch."
The sound of something chewing food came from inside, and everyone frowned.
"Could it be that Li Huaide and the others have been locked in the room eating for all these days?" Zhang Hao said with some hesitation.
"Ram the door!"
He Yuzhu pushed aside two thin soldiers, held his breath, and stood before the door.
"Hi! Open!"
With a sudden kick, his Martial Power Value of over eighty exploded with full force. Everyone heard a *boom*, and He Yuzhu was sent flying back by the locked door.
"Damn! I almost got bluffed by you kid!" Seeing He Yuzhu, who had been sent flying seven or eight meters away and was now lying on the ground, Station Chief Zhang wiped his sweat and said with disdain.
"Cough, cough, what a sturdy door!" He Yuzhu blushed, rubbed his leg awkwardly, and climbed up from the ground, but everyone turned their heads away, refusing to look at him.
Only the twitching of their shoulders betrayed the fact that everyone was holding back laughter.
He Yuzhu tiptoed, stepped behind the crowd one step at a time, and stopped showing off.
A few soldiers, in pairs, took turns running and kicking in a cycle. Finally, after seventeen or eighteen attempts, the door was kicked in entirely.
It turned out it wasn't just locked inside; it was also propped up with a thick piece of wood. No wonder it was so hard to open.
As soon as the door opened, a thick, foul stench wafted out, and the people from the Public Security Station frowned simultaneously.
"Corpse stench!"
At the same time, the crunching sound became even clearer to everyone's ears. An officer stopped everyone, ran out, and retrieved two flashlights from the car before the group slowly walked in.
"Ugh!"
"Waaah."
The scene inside was such that even the group from the Public Security Station, who had dealt with all kinds of cases, couldn't help but cover their mouths and run out while vomiting. Seeing this, Zhang Hao, Factory Director Yang, and the others who were following behind stopped in their tracks and even slowly moved quite a bit further back.
"What? What's the situation inside?" Zhang Hao walked up to an officer who was kneeling on the ground vomiting incessantly, fanned his nose, and asked in confusion.
"Waaah."
It would have been better if he hadn't asked; once he did, the group vomited even more violently.
"Cough, cough, let them recover for a bit." Factory Director Yang took out a cigarette, walked to the side, and started smoking; the smell in the courtyard was truly too foul.
After a good while, the group finally recovered, wiped their tears, and stood up straight.
"Chief Zhang, there is a person with disheveled hair inside gnawing on human bones..."
"Yes, yes, yes, there's a pile of skeletons inside..."
Zhang Hao listened to what everyone said, swallowed hard with an ugly expression, but still ordered: "Be careful, take the windows off, watch your safety."
The group was stunned, then took action, using various tools to dismantle the windows entirely from the outside.
The hellish scene inside was exposed to everyone's eyes.
"Ugh, waaah." Factory Director Yang took one look and was the first to vomit and run away.
He Yuzhu also poked his head in to look, and at a glance, he recognized the disheveled figure wearing a dark-colored cheongsam inside. His throat couldn't help but heave, but he didn't vomit.
I saw that inside...
