Chapter 1027: Visiting Paris
A week later, He Yuzhu boarded a flight to Europe with He Zheng, registered under the identity of a Senior Engineer.
As soon as the plane landed in France and they exited the arrival gate, the enthusiasm of the FSR Communications Group hit them head-on—General Manager Lv Ke led the team in person, with a large group of people holding welcome signs, the formation looking as if they were welcoming a bride.
After the interpreter gave a brief introduction, Lv Ke smiled and shook hands with He Zheng, Qin Tianzhen, and He Yuzhu one by one.
But as his gaze swept behind them, the smile at the corners of his eyes stiffened for a moment, and he couldn't help but ask: "Mr. He, wasn't there supposed to be eight people on the visit list? How come... only the three of you came?"
He Zheng looked embarrassed and explained with a sheepish laugh: "To be honest, our company recently took on a major project, and we really couldn't spare the manpower. To tell you the truth, the extra people were originally just planning to tag along for a trip; their work is all replaceable."
Upon hearing this, Lv Ke finally relaxed his brow and nodded slightly: "I see, as long as it doesn't affect the main business, that's fine."
He Zheng took the opportunity to step aside, ushering He Yuzhu to the front, and said sternly: "Mr. Lv Ke, let me introduce you. This is our company's Senior Engineer, Jiang Tao. Our company's core technical direction is all handled by Mr. Jiang."
Lv Ke's eyes lit up instantly, but he immediately followed up with a question: "I don't seem to have seen Mr. Jiang's name on the previous list. Why did he come so suddenly?"
He Zheng sighed, his tone deepening: "The United States is suppressing our company to death. We aren't afraid, but we must protect our technical backbone. The Americans once laid hands on a Senior Researcher at my father's company, so we have always kept the information of our core personnel strictly under wraps. The reason we invited Mr. Jiang out this time is because, after repeated vetting, we determined that your company is sincerely looking to cooperate, and he can answer your most critical technical difficulties."
Upon hearing this, Lv Ke's face immediately filled with smiles: "Then we are truly honored! To tell you the truth, I also come from a technical background, and I am eager to have a good exchange with Mr. Jiang."
When He Yuzhu heard this, he saw through it clearly—the talk of an "exchange" was just talk; in reality, they still didn't fully believe his identity as a "Senior Engineer," and they were still probing him in their words.
He wasn't flustered, and on the spot, he threw out several of the most critical technical bottlenecks of this communication software and proposed solutions in just a few words.
After listening, Lv Ke's eyes were practically glowing; he praised him repeatedly as if holding a treasure, and that bit of suspicion vanished into thin air.
He at least understood that a truly top-tier Architect is not necessarily someone who spends every day hunched over a keyboard typing code.
Just then, dozens of people swarmed in, all tall and sturdy, wearing black suits, earpieces, and sunglasses, standing there like a wall—they were all the bodyguards He Zheng had hired in advance in Europe.
The leader, named Xien, approached Song Ming and whispered his loyalty: "Mr. Song, I'm the one who has been coordinating with you online. Don't worry, in this part of Europe, there isn't anything we can't handle."
Song Ming waved his hand and replied indifferently: "Mr. Xien, don't speak too soon. If someone uses state power to target us, I don't think you'll necessarily be able to stop them."
Xien frowned slightly, but he didn't back down: "The Americans are indeed overbearing, but this is Europe; they have to weigh the consequences to some extent. We are well aware of the matter you're worried about, and we guarantee that this trip will be foolproof for you."
That night, the group checked into a high-end hotel in Paris, and the conditions were impeccable.
The next day, sitting at the negotiating table, everything went smoothly; the two sides hit it off, and the contract was signed quickly and efficiently.
Early the next morning, Lv Ke had the company's reception staff accompany He Zheng, He Yuzhu, and Qin Tianzhen's group as they marched grandly into the streets of Paris.
He Zheng and Qin Tianzhen were both like children let loose, posing for photos under the Eiffel Tower with wide smiles, and later they went to eat a legendary French feast, with foie gras, snails, and steaks served in turn, the atmosphere incredibly lively.
Everything looked beautiful.
Taking advantage of the fact that no one was paying attention, He Zheng quietly leaned over to He Yuzhu, lowering his voice with a hint of smugness: "Dad, look, were you overthinking it? Nothing happened, and we're having a great time."
He Yuzhu didn't even lift his eyelids, just gave a faint hum: "Just because nothing is wrong now doesn't mean we can walk out of Europe smoothly."
He Zheng curled his lips in disagreement: "The contract is signed, and we're out here sightseeing; what else could possibly go wrong?"
He Yuzhu turned his head and looked at him with a heavy gaze: "We are canceling our trips to the Netherlands, Germany, Switzerland... and Italy. We leave tonight. I will let you see with your own eyes what they will do."
He Zheng fell silent for a moment before saying: "Now that you put it that way... I really don't have the heart to go to those places anymore. Always worrying about trouble, what's the point of traveling."
He Yuzhu smiled: "Whether you cancel or not is up to you, but I've already prepared to go head-to-head with them."
He Zheng gritted his teeth, his eyes sharpening, and suddenly he was energized: "Fine! I'll have my friend book the tickets now, we leave tonight."
He Yuzhu turned to look at Qin Tianzhen, his tone softening: "Tianzhen, will you feel a bit regretful? It was hard to get out here, and we didn't get to finish the trip."
Qin Tianzhen shook her head, her tone quite relaxed: "Dad, I wasn't interested in this trip to begin with, so it's fine to leave now."
When Xien of the European security company heard they were leaving, he looked surprised and a bit regretful: "Mr. Song, aren't you still planning to visit other countries? Why are you returning home so suddenly?"
Song Ming waved his hand and sighed helplessly: "Something urgent came up back home, so we have to cut the rest of the itinerary. But don't worry, we will pay every cent of the fees as per the contract."
Upon hearing this, Xien rubbed his hands together, feeling a bit embarrassed: "This... I feel like I've taken advantage of you."
Song Ming patted his shoulder and smiled, lowering his voice: "Xien, I think you're a decent guy. Tell me the truth, has anyone behind the scenes asked you for our itinerary or made any other excessive demands?"
Xien paused, but ultimately shook his head.
Song Ming saw through it clearly—the U. S. side had indeed taken action.
He stared at Xien seriously and said: "Xien, our sudden cancellation of the rest of the trip actually saved your life. If you had really moved against us, you would have been the one to suffer in the end."
Xien was silent for a few seconds before finally relenting: "Mr. Song, since you are leaving tonight, I won't hide it from you... Someone did indeed ask us to provide your subsequent itinerary. Our boss resisted for a while, but in the end, he couldn't withstand the pressure and agreed... You should be careful on your way."
Song Ming curled his lips, reached out, and patted Xien's arm: "Until we meet again, good luck."
After He Zheng's group passed through security, He Zheng still had a smug look on his face, turning to He Yuzhu with a grin: "Dad, look, aren't we perfectly fine? Who would detain us?"
He Yuzhu sighed and said: "Even if you're on the plane, there's still a possibility of being shot down. The Soviet Union and the United States both have precedents for shooting down civilian airliners; don't be happy too soon."
Before his words had even landed, several uniformed French Border Police officers walked up quickly and blocked their path.
He Yuzhu curled his lip, revealing a cold sneer: "What was meant to come, has come!"
He Zheng cursed on the spot: "These bastards, they really did set a trap for us!"
