Chapter 1067: The Nested Trap in the Black Market
He Yuzhu held up three fingers: "Three thousand USD. I won't pay a cent more."
The goat-bearded man sucked on his teeth, his face pained: "Boss, you're driving a hard bargain. To be honest with you, my cost price is higher than that. Seventy thousand. I won't sell for a cent less."
He Yuzhu spread his hands: "Then this deal can't be made."
The goat-bearded man hurriedly reached out to grab him: "Boss, I can see you're not someone short on money. If you truly want it, sixty thousand. That's the lowest price."
He Yuzhu continued to shake his head and turned around, making a move to leave.
The goat-bearded man grabbed him again: "The price you offered is really too low, I truly can't sell it!"
He Yuzhu turned his head to look at Hu Bayi: "Hu, how much money do you have on you? Lend me some."
Hu Bayi understood immediately and spoke up: "I only have three thousand USD on me in total!"
The goat-bearded man's eyes darted around, and he gritted his teeth: "Ten thousand USD. This is already a rock-bottom price. Take it if you want, or leave if you don't. I won't stop you."
He Yuzhu pulled Hu Bayi aside, and the two whispered for a long time.
Turning back, He Yuzhu said: "I can offer eight thousand at most, and that's only after my brother sells what he has on hand."
The boss waved his hand: "Eight thousand, I can't sell at that price."
He Yuzhu didn't say another word and led everyone away from the stall directly.
After they had walked far away, the boss shouted to a small man who was watering raw stones nearby: "A Xing, follow this group and see if they really have money, or if they were just playing me for a fool."
The small man named A Xing followed silently behind He Yuzhu and the other four.
On the other side, Xu Damao and Dajinya stopped in front of a purchasing stall. The stall owner was a Southeast Asian who spoke fluent English. Seeing them approach, he hurriedly stood up to offer seats and poured tea.
Hearing that the two intended to sell a few sets of jade bracelets, the stall owner's eyes lit up: "You gentlemen have an extraordinary air; the goods in your hands must be excellent."
Xu Damao and Dajinya each took out two sets of bracelets. These were all distributed to them by He Yuzhu, so the quality was naturally top-notch.
The stall owner held them in his hands, examining them over and over, and didn't stop praising them.
Xu Damao didn't understand English. At first, he asked He Yuzhu to help translate a few sentences, but later on, He Yuzhu couldn't be bothered to respond.
Finally, He Yuzhu negotiated with the stall owner directly in English: "Boss, give us a straight price. If the price is right, we'll sell; if not, we'll walk away."
The stall owner was also very direct: "Thirty thousand USD per set. Do you want to sell?"
Upon hearing this number, Xu Damao immediately shook his head: "This stuff is worth at least over a hundred thousand a pair. Boss, you're not being honest."
The stall owner smiled: "This boss, you don't understand the rules here. What I'm giving you is the price that can actually go into your pocket. These few sets of bracelets you have are already enough to cause trouble."
"What trouble?" He Yuzhu asked.
The stall owner pointed to several buildings in the back: "There are government people over there. Once top-quality goods appear in the market, they will either take a twenty percent heavy tax or simply confiscate the items."
"That's too bullying! We bought the items with our own money, why should they just confiscate them?" Xu Damao said indignantly.
"That's just the local law. It's like the rules in some places—you might find them unreasonable, but you have no choice. The world is just a makeshift stage, isn't it!" The stall owner shrugged.
He Yuzhu smiled: "Then we won't sell, that should be fine."
A malicious smile appeared on the stall owner's face: "Too late. Look at these people around us; it's possible someone has already reported the news to the Myanmar Military Government. You might be searched at any moment!"
He Yuzhu frowned, glanced at the others, and said: "A strong dragon cannot defeat a local snake. Let's sell!"
The stall owner nodded: "Let's go into the back room to discuss the details."
Entering the back room, the stall owner checked the bracelets again and turned to take money out of a safe.
One stack was 10,000 USD, and he counted out 12 stacks in total.
He Yuzhu didn't trust him at all. With a thought, he used the system to perform a Scanning of the banknotes and discovered that half of them were counterfeit.
He Yuzhu muttered to himself: The people doing business in this place are truly black-hearted. To be like this in 2001, no wonder a large number of scam parks would emerge after 2010; it turns out the roots were already there.
Xu Damao took the money and flipped through the stacks, but didn't see any flaws at all.
He Yuzhu didn't warn him, intending to let him suffer a loss to learn a lesson.
Xu Damao had been whining along the way. He originally thought that since he was rich now, he would be better, but now he realized that this grandson's nature was hard to change. As long as money was in his hands, it was like it was sewn onto his ribs—he was incredibly stingy.
The stall owner got the jade, a fleeting look of triumph flashed across his face, and he turned to lock the bracelets into a large safe.
Taking advantage of the fact that everyone's attention was not on this side, He Yuzhu moved his mind and directly took away all the jade products and money in the safe.
Xu Damao clutched the sixty thousand USD he had received, but there was no joy on his face. He cursed: "This ghost place is completely rotten! They only allow themselves to sell fake goods to cheat people, but once ordinary people find good goods, they get forcibly looted. What kind of world is this? Even in the old society, it wasn't this unreasonable!"
He Yuzhu smiled faintly: "You also know that the Myanmar Military Government exploits merchants, and merchants in turn cheat foreign traders. This is called a vicious cycle."
Dajinya sighed: "It's a good thing I only took out the two worst sets I had. If I had really shown the top-tier goods, they would definitely have been confiscated."
He Yuzhu noticed a little tail trailing behind them, and he knew without thinking that the visitor was not well-intentioned.
He turned to the others and said: "Alright, we suffered a loss today, I'll take you guys to get our own back."
Xu Damao's eyes lit up: "Zhuzi, did you see another way to make a fortune?"
He Yuzhu shook his head: "It's just that stone I took a fancy to earlier. I've read about this texture of stone in books before. It looks like an ordinary stone on the outside, but it's good material on the inside."
Xu Damao hurriedly chimed in: "Zhuzi, why don't we team up to take it!"
Hu Bayi couldn't bear to watch: "Damao, you can't just keep shearing the same sheep. Master He has already distributed plenty of good things to us; we shouldn't be greedy for more."
He Yuzhu waved his hand and said with a smile: "If it really turns out to be a treasure, I'll give you four a five percent cut each."
Xu Damao was immediately overjoyed: "That would be great!"
Seeing the few of them return, the goat-bearded man spoke sarcastically: "You guys came back after making money? To tell you the truth, I've raised the price of the material. I won't sell it for less than twenty thousand USD."
He Yuzhu didn't waste words, directly counted out twenty thousand USD and handed it over, then picked up the raw stone and prepared to leave.
Xu Damao leaned in to examine it back and forth. After a long time, he sighed: "Zhuzi, this stone might really just be a stone."
He Yuzhu laughed: "Gambling on stones is gambling on the unknown. I don't dare to guarantee what's inside either."
Dajinya also leaned over, holding the stone and examining it for a long time. He used a flashlight to shine it back and forth, pretending to be an expert: "In my opinion, there is indeed jade inside, but it's a pity it's only a thin layer."
Xu Damao urged: "Why don't we cut it right here and see? If it's waste material, we'll just throw it away, so we don't have to bother carrying it."
He Yuzhu waved his hand: "Let's take it back first."
Dajinya was still stirring up trouble on the side: "Just make one cut, it won't take much effort."
The goat-bearded man, having just collected the money, also fanned the flames: "Sir, seeing your unique eye for things, why not open it right here and let us see? If a good piece really comes out, I have plenty of big clients here who can take it off your hands at a high price on the spot."
He Yuzhu shook his head repeatedly: "Forget it, forget it, I'll feel more at ease taking it back. If it turns out to be a piece of waste stone, I'll definitely have a heart attack."
The Boss continued to urge him incessantly: "I'll cover the cost of opening the window, just do me the favor."
Unable to withstand the group of people all talking at once and taking turns to persuade him, He Yuzhu feigned helplessness: "Fine, if we're going to open it, let's open it."
In fact, He Yuzhu had long been clear about the quality inside the raw stone; he insisted on making this cut because he intended to use this opportunity to round up this bunch of swindlers in one go, so they wouldn't continue to harm others.
"Since everyone wants to see, then let's make a cut," He Yuzhu said, putting on a look of having no other choice.
