Chapter 111: Causing Trouble
He Yuzhu sent Zhao Ying away, then entered the space and carefully applied makeup on himself. He glued on eyebrows and a beard, painted his face dark, traced a few wrinkles at the corners of his eyes, and changed into a black cotton-padded jacket; his whole person suddenly appeared much more weathered.
He came out from the space, faced the biting cold wind, and found a nearby steamed bun shop. "Boss, give me 200 steamed buns, hurry."
The Boss was stunned for a moment, then a look of pleasant surprise bloomed on his face: "Customer, please wait a moment, I'll go prepare them right now!"
The Boss busied himself for over half an hour and finally had the two hundred steamed buns ready.
He Yuzhu put the steamed buns into a large backpack, went out, and got into a rickshaw.
"Buddy, go to Baizhifang. Do you know where there are more beggars?"
The rickshaw puller hunched his shoulders and exhaled a puff of white air: "In this freezing weather, the beggars have all found places to hide. You might be able to run into a few in front of some restaurants."
He Yuzhu got off the rickshaw near the Baizhifang police station, and the biting cold wind immediately rushed toward his face.
He wandered around the snow-covered streets for a long time without seeing any beggars; he walked forward aimlessly and, without realizing it, arrived at Caishikou Street.
It was indeed much livelier here, with shops lining the street and pedestrians hurrying back and forth.
Suddenly, he spotted a small group of people gathered around a sesame seed cake oven ahead.
An old man was baking cakes, the oven fire reflecting off his face, making it bright red.
Three children in rags were huddled around the oven, their small hands tucked tightly into their sleeves.
"Go away, go away! Don't crowd my oven!" The old man waved his hands impatiently. "Is it easy for me to earn this little bit of money? How could I have any extra for you!"
A little girl of about ten, her face smeared with coal dust, said timidly: "Please, give us two cakes. My Siqiang is sick and really wants to eat a cake made by you. I will definitely pay you back another day!"
The slightly older boy added: "We aren't asking for them for free; as soon as my Siqiang gets better, we'll pay you!"
The smallest one also muttered: "My Siqiang even treated your illness before! You are ungrateful!"
The old man sneered: "Wasn't it just one acupuncture needle? I gave you four cakes at the time; the favor was settled long ago!"
"You're really stingy. Next time you have another seizure, let's see who saves you!" the little boy said angrily.
He Yuzhu stepped forward, his cotton boots crunching on the snow.
"Old man, I want all these cakes." He turned to the three children. "Eat as much as you want, it's my treat today."
The little girl opened her eyes wide in disbelief.
He Yuzhu took steamed buns out of his cloth bag and handed them to her; she took them hesitantly and took a big bite. The aroma of meat immediately filled her mouth, and the grease dripped down the corner of her lips.
Only then did she believe she wasn't dreaming, and she immediately began to wolf them down; the two boys also couldn't wait to grab the buns and stuff them into their mouths.
"Buddy, you have buns, are you still buying my cakes?" the old man asked worriedly.
"I am, buy as many as you have," He Yuzhu said.
After eating three buns, the little girl was too embarrassed to take any more.
He Yuzhu saw her hesitation and said: "Eat as much as you want. You can take some back if you like."
The little girl suddenly asked: "Brother, why are you being so good to us?"
He Yuzhu smiled and said: "I have something I want to ask you. Recently, in your group, have you seen someone a bit taller than me and slightly chubby?"
The little girl shook her head in a panic: "No, haven't seen him."
After she finished speaking, she hurriedly took two buns from the bag and put them in her pocket, fearing that the other party would go back on his word because she hadn't been able to help.
"Are there any other people nearby like you who can't get enough to eat? Call them all over, I'm treating them to a meal today."
The slightly older boy asked curiously: "Are you serious?"
"Of course. Doesn't your Siqiang want to eat cakes? Take all these cakes back to him, and while you're at it, call all the beggars nearby over."
After hearing this, the boy grabbed five cakes and ran off.
He Yuzhu looked at the little girl and asked: "What's your name?"
The little girl said: "My name is Sanya, the one who ran off is Datou, and he is Ertou." Sanya pointed at the little boy who was still eating a bun.
Ertou was still eating the bun non-stop, as if he were not full at all.
Sanya also picked up a cake and ate it in small bites.
Before long, over a dozen beggars of various ages came running toward them.
Not long after, a few more little beggars came running over.
He Yuzhu hurriedly gave his backpack to Sanya and said: "Help me distribute them to them, and tell them not to fight; there is enough for everyone."
Sanya looked at Ertou and said: "Ertou, help me hand out the buns to them."
Ertou was a bit reluctant and complained: "I'm not full yet!"
"You've already eaten eight buns and you're still not full? You'll be throwing up in a minute."
He Yuzhu watched from the side as this group of beggars ate the buns ravenously, asking a few questions from time to time about Liu Xiaohua, but these people, just like Sanya, all said they hadn't seen him.
On the other side of the road, a few more beggars came running over in a rush; just as they were crossing the road, a vehicle sped over from the distance.
The iron front of the vehicle had a cold, metallic glint and was covered in a layer of snow; the truck was actually driving very fast in the heavy snow.
A half-grown boy crossing the road saw the car speeding toward him and stopped in fright; the car didn't even brake and hit him directly.
His small body was thrown high into the air.
With a "thump," he landed on the ground.
The vehicle didn't even stop; the soldiers in the back of the truck saw the small body lying on the street and were actually shouting and cheering excitedly.
"Stinking beggar, a waste of food even while alive," one soldier cursed.
He Yuzhu was stunned for a split second; he hadn't expected these soldiers to be so evil!
They didn't even stop after hitting someone, and they were still fucking mocking him!
What difference was there between these pieces of human trash and the Japanese invaders!
"Fuck your grandfather, I think you lot are the ones wasting food while alive."
He Yuzhu lost his head again; his emotions flared up and he could no longer control them. At this moment, he had long since thrown the matter of finding Liu Xiaohua to the back of his mind.
He accelerated and started running, overtaking the car in less than twenty seconds.
He Yuzhu quickly took a stone out of his space and smashed it directly against the windshield.
*Clang! *
The windshield turned into a spiderweb.
The driver slammed on the brakes in an emergency.
The truck could not stop immediately; instead, it screeched against the ground with a "squeak" and wobbled toward a tree.
"Bang!"
The car crashed into the tree, and a puff of black smoke rose up.
Those soldiers quickly jumped off the truck, warily scanning their surroundings.
The driver pointed at He Yuzhu from the driver's seat and shouted, "Battalion Commander Ma, it was this brat who smashed the glass."
Hearing this, several soldiers immediately became agitated and headed toward He Yuzhu with their guns raised.
Only then did He Yuzhu realize why these people were so arrogant; it turned out there were several foreign military personnel among these soldiers.
Battalion Commander Ma sneered, pointed his Pistol at He Yuzhu, and said, "You little bastard, you dare to attack the American Advisory Group's vehicle? I'm going to take your life today!"
Upon hearing this, He Yuzhu knew that today's matter could not be settled peacefully.
Just as Battalion Commander Ma was about to disengage the safety on his gun, a murderous intent rose in He Yuzhu, and he directly flung a Flying Knife, which pierced through his arm with a vicious thud.
"Clatter!"
His Pistol fell to the ground.
"You hit someone and didn't stop; this is the lesson I, your grandfather, am giving you," He Yuzhu roared.
The few American soldiers were truly like dogs that bite without barking; they quickly reached for their guns.
It was this action that cost them their lives; He Yuzhu's hands were much faster than theirs, and with a flip of his hands, he had two Box Cannons in his grip.
"Bang, bang, bang, bang, bang!" After a burst of gunfire.
All five of them lay on the ground like dead pigs.
Fresh blood stained the ground red.
The driver got out, saw all this, and was so terrified his legs shook as he prepared to flee.
"Bang!"
He was also shot in the head by He Yuzhu.
Pedestrians on the road saw this scene and immediately scattered in all directions.
He Yuzhu checked and found that all of them were thoroughly dead; he turned to leave and happened to see a familiar figure running into an alley.
