Chapter 147: Chaos

~7 min read 1,355 words

He Yuzhu sidestepped, dodging the iron rod swung at his face, and backhanded a strike onto the opponent's wrist.

With a crisp "Crack!", the thug's wrist was instantly broken, and the iron rod in his hand fell to the ground.

He Yuzhu lifted his foot to flick the iron rod up and caught it with his hand.

That steel pipe became a great lethal weapon in He Yuzhu's hands; relying on his superhuman speed, he could always strike their vitals before the enemies could attack.

Every time he swung the iron rod, it carried the sound of tearing air; wherever it went, thugs fell to the ground screaming, either with shattered joints or heads cracked and bleeding.

He Yuzhu fought as he retreated, struggling to protect his companions as they rushed out of the chaotic restaurant.

However, the scene outside was even more shocking—the entire Chinatown seemed to have been reduced to a bloody battlefield.

Groups of ferocious-looking white thugs were crazily chasing and beating any person of color.

As long as they were caught, regardless of age or gender, there was only one path: death.

Piles of mangled corpses were everywhere on the road.

Fresh blood, burning shops, shattered glass, and scattered debris filled the entire Chinatown, like hell.

Even more hateful was that at a street corner not far away, hundreds of fully armed American Police were actually standing in formation watching coldly; they held batons and shields but remained indifferent to the atrocities before them, calling it "maintaining order."

"These bastards who aid the evildoers! Eating human food but not doing human deeds!" He Yuzhu witnessed this scene and cursed loudly.

He Yuzhu roared, brandishing the steel pipe, no longer showing any mercy to the thugs; almost every swing took a life.

Zhao Meiting, Zhao Ying, and Su Qing also held the sticks He Yuzhu had given them, swinging them wildly to protect Jia Xiuhua and Su Zhixiao.

But the number of opponents was simply too great; seeing that He Yuzhu was incomparably fierce, these people retreated one after another, turning to throw stones and Molotov cocktails at He Yuzhu's group.

He Yuzhu could hit back almost every Molotov cocktail, causing them to explode on their side. But they threw too many other things, and He Yuzhu simply could not block them all.

In the chaos, his left arm was struck by a sharp stone, the pain piercing his heart.

The few people behind him were also not spared; everyone had injuries.

He Yuzhu looked at those ferocious faces and several times wanted to pull a Submachine Gun from his space to spray them, but he knew in his heart that once he used a gun, those cold-eyed Police would immediately aim their muzzles at them. Instead of the white people who wanted to kill them!

Relying entirely on He Yuzhu's reckless ferocity and clever use of the terrain, the few of them finally broke through the encirclement.

People were still dying behind them, and He Yuzhu felt his ability was limited and he could not save the others.

Half an hour later, they finally escaped in a disheveled state into a quiet alley.

Backed against the cold, rough brick wall, He Yuzhu gasped for air, the sharp pain in his left arm becoming more pronounced.

He pretended to take something from his backpack, but actually took the first-aid kit he had bought earlier from his space and handed it to the panting Zhao Ying.

Zhao Ying had received basic medical training; at this moment, she gritted her teeth, enduring the pain and exhaustion to urgently treat everyone's wounds.

"Where the hell is this America? It's even more chaotic than when the Japanese were in Si Jiu Cheng! Thought I came to a pure land, but it turned out to be a Yama's palace!" Zhao Ying cursed bitterly while cleaning Su Qing's wounds.

"These animals have harmed us so miserably; we absolutely cannot let this account go just like this!" He Yuzhu said viciously. He was truly enraged this time. These people were simply animals, and there was no need to be polite to them.

Zhao Ying looked up at him: "If you have any ideas, just say it, don't keep me in suspense."

He Yuzhu leaned into her ear, lowered his voice, and whispered quickly for a few moments.

Zhao Ying's eyes lit up first, and a smile of satisfaction appeared at the corners of her mouth.

Jia Xiuhua, who was to the side, anxiously interjected: "I have no objection to you wanting revenge, but you must be careful and not get yourselves trapped."

"Don't worry, Aunt Jia, we have a sense of proportion and won't be reckless!" He Yuzhu said firmly.

Next, He Yuzhu first safely sent the injured Zhao Meiting and his wife and Su Qing and his son back to the hotel. After settling them in, He Yuzhu and Zhao Ying went out again.

The two first found a hidden corner to perform simple makeup and covered their heads and faces with masks, revealing only their eyes, then quietly snuck back into the still-chaotic district.

After some searching, He Yuzhu finally found an ideal vantage point—the roof of an abandoned warehouse.

He helped Zhao Ying climb onto the roof and handed her a Sniper Rifle with a scope.

Then, he quickly moved to another higher position behind the side of the Police formation and also took a sniper rifle from his space.

He looked through the scope, calmly searching for targets, and soon locked onto a white brute walking at the very front of the thug group, his upper body covered in tattoos, who was smashing things with particular effort.

He Yuzhu held his breath, reached out to test the wind speed, and his finger steadily pulled the trigger.

"Bang!" A crisp gunshot pierced the clamor; the bullet accurately hit the target, and the white brute fell to the ground in response, his head blown open on the spot.

This sudden cold shot caused the smashing group to instantly stall; the thugs turned their heads in shock and suspicion toward the Police holding shields at the street corner, their eyes full of anger, subconsciously thinking this was a warning issued to them by the Police.

Several other leaders in the group were enraged, roaring as they took the lead to charge toward the Police, and more people began throwing stones and Molotov cocktails at the Police.

"Bang! Bang!" Two more calm and precise shots rang out, and the two thug leaders who were charging at the front and causing the most trouble were hit and fell to the ground one after another.

Now, the thug group completely exploded. "The Police are shooting and killing people!" Someone shouted, and the crowd began to charge the Police line like crazy.

"Bang! Bang!" Gunshots rang out again, but this time it wasn't the thugs who fell, but two Police in the front row.

Clearly, this was Zhao Ying who had fired.

Once they saw their own ranks had also suffered deaths, the commander shouted an order: "Take out your guns!"

The Police pulled out their Pistols one after another.

"Fire!" The commander shouted loudly.

Some Police fired into the air, and some fired at the charging crowd.

"Bang! Bang!" Two shots.

Two more Police were shot in the head.

The deaths of these two Police quickly ignited the tense situation; the mutual trust between the two sides was gone.

Many of the thugs actually carried guns, but they hadn't dared to use them easily; now, seeing that both sides had exchanged fire, they had no more scruples and pulled out their firearms to fight back.

In an instant, the original conflict between thugs and civilians evolved into a fierce gun battle between thugs and Police, and the entire street fell into an even more uncontrollable melee.

Seeing that the goal was achieved, He Yuzhu quickly withdrew from the sniper point and arrived at the pre-arranged location.

Finding that Zhao Ying was already waiting for him, He Yuzhu put away the guns and whispered: "Let's go, let's go check out other districts."
