Chapter 171: Getting Food
After upgrading the system, He Yuzhu felt his sensory abilities had been elevated to the extreme.
Those hidden sentries behind rocks and in bushes were now unable to escape his sight.
He Yuzhu moved like a shadow, weaving through the woodland without a sound.
Not far ahead, two enemies were leaning behind a rock, sharing a can of food and whispering, completely unaware of the impending danger.
He Yuzhu's eyes narrowed, his figure suddenly accelerating as he streaked past like a ghost.
A flash of a blade passed, and the two sentries collapsed to the ground before they could even react. The entire process was clean and efficient.
He continued to push forward, clearing three more groups of sentries in succession.
While dealing with the fourth group, he deliberately left one alive, bringing the small man back and handing him over to Hongying, who had followed up.
"Help me interrogate him; ask for the password and the locations of the ammunition depot and the food storage," He Yuzhu said in a low voice.
"No problem," Hongying said, then took the man toward the back of their team.
He Yuzhu then led several soldiers to sneak onto the road below to lay Landmines.
Moonlight shone through the gaps in the clouds, casting mottled shadows on the rugged mountain road.
He Yuzhu laid the Landmines with practiced movements, every burial point carefully calculated. He also marked them clearly to prevent his own men from stepping into the minefield.
Half an hour later, He Yuzhu wiped the sweat from his brow; with the assistance of several soldiers, the minefield was fully laid.
Hongying walked over quickly and whispered: "I got it out of him; tonight's password is 'Jiming Post'. The food warehouse is in the southeast corner, but he doesn't know where the ammunition is."
"Good, thank you!" He Yuzhu said: "The Landmines on the road are all set, and I've marked them, but you had best not go down there. Once the camp falls into chaos, you are responsible for holding this high ground and intercepting anyone who tries to come up."
"Rest assured, I will definitely hold this position!" Hongying promised solemnly.
He Yuzhu waved at Li Xiang, "It's time for us to move."
Hongying immediately ordered three veterans to step up the construction of a Machine Gun position, with the muzzles aimed at the narrow path below the mountain—that was the route the enemy was most likely to pursue them from.
He Yuzhu and Li Xiang quietly approached the enemy camp. When the local searchlight swept over, they quickly flattened themselves in a weed-choked depression.
He Yuzhu said: "Stay right here and don't move; don't act until I fire the first shot. After firing one Rocket, if the enemy doesn't pursue, you can fire a second, but you must never fire a third. Retreat quickly along the path we came."
"Understood!" Li Xiang nodded heavily.
Taking advantage of the gap in the searchlight's sweep, He Yuzhu moved quickly in another direction.
He took the Bazooka from his space. Taking a deep breath, he aimed at the largest tent in the center of the camp and pulled the trigger.
"Boom!"
The Rocket dragged a tail of flame as it tore through the night sky, hitting the target with precision.
The tent was instantly torn apart, and the soaring flames lit up half the camp.
He Yuzhu did not know that his strike had hit the division command post, and the maps and communication equipment inside were reduced to ashes in the explosion.
"Enemy attack! Enemy attack!"
The entire camp was immediately plunged into chaos.
Soldiers rushed out of their tents in a panic, firing blindly into the darkness.
Officers shouted at the top of their lungs, trying to assemble their troops.
"Boom!"
The Rocket from Li Xiang's side also arrived right on time, and another tent erupted into a large fire from the explosion.
The soldiers who had just assembled scattered and fled once again.
He Yuzhu moved quickly along the perimeter of the Military Camp; his detection ability gave him full knowledge of the locations of sentries and Landmines.
Seeing people gathering in the camp, he raised his hand and fired another Rocket.
"Boom!"
The Rocket exploded in the crowd, and instantly a dozen people fell into a pool of blood.
The surviving soldiers fled in panic, and after that, no one dared to assemble on a large scale again.
Taking advantage of the chaos, He Yuzhu quietly snuck into the enemy's main camp.
Aided by his detection ability, he soon found the first ammunition depot.
"Password!" The two guards in front of the tent raised their guns alertly.
"Jiming Post," He Yuzhu replied in a deep voice.
"What is your business?" a soldier stepped forward and asked.
"Getting ammunition! Don't you see the enemy has attacked?" Before He Yuzhu's voice had even faded, two cold glints flashed in his hand, and two Flying Knives precisely embedded themselves in the guards' throats.
He quickly collected the corpses into his space.
Just then, a patrol squad walked over from the rear.
"Password!" the leading officer barked sternly.
"Jiming Post."
The officer suspiciously raised his gun at He Yuzhu: "State your unit!"
He Yuzhu knew he couldn't bluff his way through, so he immediately took the initiative.
His speed in drawing his gun was astonishing; only two "bangs" were heard, and the officer and another soldier fell to the ground in response.
He took the opportunity to roll forward and approach the remaining soldiers, and with a thought, he collected them all into his space.
Inside the space, he quickly changed into the officer's uniform, and after checking the identification, it almost made him laugh out loud: "16th Army, 22nd Division, 64th Regiment, 3rd Battalion, 2nd Company, 3rd Platoon, Platoon Leader Sun Dianying..."
"Since you have the same name as the 'Eastern Tomb Thief', you don't die in vain!"
He Yuzhu finished changing his clothes, flashed out of the space, and entered the ammunition depot.
The tent was piled high with crates of ammunition. He Yuzhu quickly collected these supplies into his space, just as the sound of chaotic footsteps arrived outside.
A bright idea struck him; he moved out a crate of grenades, pulled the pins, and turned to run.
The soldiers who had just gathered outside the tent hadn't even reacted before they were knocked to the ground by the blast wave of the explosion.
Taking advantage of the greater chaos, He Yuzhu began searching for his next target—the food storage point.
At this time, the Military Camp was already on full alert; every area was not only checking passwords but also verifying identities.
But this could not stump He Yuzhu; he used the cover of shadows and his space to shuttle through the darkness where the firelight could not reach.
After some trouble, he finally found the tent where the food was stored.
After dealing with the guards, he slipped inside; the mountain of food piled up in the tent made his eyes light up.
He spent some time sweeping all these supplies away.
"Thanks," He Yuzhu said, the corners of his mouth curling up slightly.
Next, he began to wreak havoc; only by letting the enemy camp fall into complete chaos would he have a chance to escape.
Hand Grenades were thrown into the tents one after another, and fires ignited in all directions.
Soldiers scurried about like headless flies, the commanders' roars, the soldiers' screams, and the sounds of explosions intertwined.
On the way to his extraction point, He Yuzhu discovered a small ammunition depot.
After dealing with the guards, he did not collect any more ammunition, but instead installed High Explosive, connecting the Detonator and the Remote Control Device.
"It's time to end this," He Yuzhu said, turning and rushing toward the edge of the camp.
Looking back at the Military Camp already engulfed in a sea of flames, he pressed the Remote Control.
"Boom! Boom! Boom!"
Deafening explosions rang out one after another, and the entire camp was like an anthill doused with boiling water.
Just as everyone was fleeing in a panic, He Yuzhu saw several soldiers driving a truck to escape.
He nimbly leaped onto the truck bed, stowed the driver into his space, flipped himself into the driver's cab, and slammed on the accelerator.
