Chapter 225: The Madman

~7 min read 1,360 words

Just as Shen Shichang pushed open the private room door, He Yuzhu saw a Major Regimental Commander leading a dense crowd of soldiers, blocking the corridor outside so tightly that not even a drop of water could pass through; there were at least over a hundred men.

Shen Shichang gave the Major a subtle look. The Major understood, stepped forward, and shouted, "He Yuzhu! You've committed a crime; come with us!"

He Yuzhu sat in his chair, leaning back slightly, and let out a cold laugh: "This officer, I'm afraid you haven't grasped the situation yet. Do you see what's in my hand?" He revealed the Remote Control Device in his palm. "This is a detonator. With one movement of my thumb, within a fifty-meter radius, not even a chicken or dog will be left alive."

The Major narrowed his eyes and said, "Mr. He, a man should have the courage to take responsibility! You released the prisoners from Jingshi Prison, so you must bear the consequences. Dragging so many innocent people to their deaths is the act of a coward!"

"Not bad, you speak with reason and composure, like an educated man." He Yuzhu raised an eyebrow, his tone laced with mockery. "But you forget, I was only sent to prison after being framed by you people! As for the prison riot, it has nothing to do with me; you were just looking for a scapegoat. Seeing that I have no power or influence, you targeted me. However, I am soft-hearted, and I cannot bear to let innocent civilians die with me. Fine, I will go with you."

"Shen Shichang!" Liu Rusi stood up abruptly. "I was the one who invited him here. Who are you putting on this show for?"

Shen Shichang immediately put on an innocent face and said to the Major, "Staff Officer Liu, this man hasn't been tried yet; you can't just pass judgment on him first, isn't that inappropriate?"

"I'm sorry, I apologize, a slip of the tongue!" Staff Officer Liu said.

"Father! Do you take me for a three-year-old child?"

He Yuzhu suddenly laughed, turned to Shen Shichang, and said, "Uncle, from today on, our meager kinship is at an end. From now on, you walk your broad road, and I will walk my single-plank bridge." He looked at Liu Rusi, his tone softening: "Sister, you go back first. I don't blame you for today; it's just that you thought too highly... of them."

Liu Rusi stared at Shen Shichang, enunciating every word: "Father, after today, if you have any business, don't come looking for me again." Having said that, she turned to leave.

"Tie him up for me!" Staff Officer Liu ordered sternly.

He Yuzhu showed no fear, holding the detonator in his hand high: "Let's see who dares! Whoever touches me, I will immediately turn this Quanjude into a collective graveyard for us all!"

With that one sentence, Staff Officer Liu was scared out of his wits. He hurriedly changed his tune: "Wait! He Yuzhu, I won't make things difficult for you. As long as you come with us, you can have it your way!"

Shen Shichang immediately took the opportunity to play the good guy: "I hope Staff Officer Liu will take good care of him on the way; after all... he is my distant nephew."

"Mr. Shen, rest assured. I am only acting under orders and have no grudge against your nephew; I will certainly give him the treatment he deserves," Staff Officer Liu replied with a bow.

As He Yuzhu passed by Shen Shichang, he paused for a moment and whispered in a voice only the two of them could hear: "Uncle, don't go down this path to the end. Tonight's business is not over between us."

He then strode away, and the soldiers involuntarily parted to create a path.

Passing a nearby table, he casually grabbed a freshly roasted duck, tore off a piece of fatty, tender duck leg, and began to gnaw on it, cursing vaguely: "A bunch of damn lackeys, making it so I couldn't even finish my meal!"

At the entrance of Quanjude, Liu Rusi watched him, tears sliding down silently.

He Yuzhu smiled and shouted, "Sister, don't stop what I told you to do!"

Liu Rusi stood frozen in place, watching the military vehicle disappear around the street corner, murmuring to herself: "Don't worry."

Not far away, Chen Xueru stood quietly at the entrance of her own Silk Store, witnessing the entire process of He Yuzhu being taken away, feeling a stifling sensation in her heart as if something were blocking it. She couldn't say she liked He Yuzhu, but she felt a bit uncomfortable thinking that this person might just die like this. She stared in a daze at the direction the military vehicle had gone, not moving for a long time.

He Yuzhu was escorted into the back of the middle truck, with over a dozen soldiers sitting around him, each with an unkind look in their eyes.

As the vehicle jolted forward, a short soldier suddenly kicked He Yuzhu in the backside and cursed: "Fuck! That Explosive on you, it's fake, right? You were acting like it was real!"

He Yuzhu turned his head and smiled at him, saying: "Big brother, you're the smart one. If I didn't scare you bastards, you'd have tied me up like a zongzi—how uncomfortable would that be for the journey?"

The short man immediately flared up and shouted to his companions: "Did you hear that? This brat is cursing us! Should we beat him? Brothers, how about we strip his clothes off and let him cool down?"

The surrounding soldiers immediately cheered excitedly: "Right! Strip him! Let his 'thing' freeze into an icicle!"

He Yuzhu's eyes suddenly narrowed, and he said coldly: "You bunch of things who act as accomplices to tyranny, you really... deserve to die!"

No sooner had he finished speaking than bursts of mocking laughter erupted in the truck bed.

The short soldier cursed: "Damn it, still so arrogant when you're about to die! Today I'm going to teach you a real lesson!"

Looking at these soldiers with their faces full of ferocity, the anger in He Yuzhu's chest could no longer be suppressed.

Without warning, he struck out violently, a heavy punch landing directly on the short soldier's face! With a muffled "thud," the short soldier didn't even have time to groan before he went limp and died instantly.

The soldiers in the truck bed were stunned by this sudden turn of events, all of them frozen in place.

How could He Yuzhu give them a chance to catch their breath? He hadn't forgotten a single one of the insults from just moments ago! His revenge never waited until the next day.

His figure was like a ghost, shifting and moving within the crowded, jolting truck bed; his fists, elbows, fingers, and palms were all lethal, striking the soldiers' vital points—temples, throats, and more—with precision and ruthlessness.

"Bang! Bang! Crack!" Muffled thuds and the sound of breaking bones rang out incessantly. In just a few dozen seconds, all ten soldiers in the truck bed had fallen, either dead or crippled.

"He's killing people! Stop the car!" The driver saw the carnage in the truck bed through the glass and shouted loudly.

The entire convoy braked sharply.

A cold arc curled at the corner of He Yuzhu's mouth: just as I was getting sleepy, someone brought a pillow.

Outside the vehicles, the soldiers from all five trucks jumped down, aiming their guns at He Yuzhu's truck.

He Yuzhu nimbly removed the Explosive from his body and placed it in the center of the truck bed.

At the same time, he kicked off with all his might, leaping from the truck bed like a nimble cat. Upon landing, he rolled into a deep water ditch by the side of the road.

He pressed the detonator button hard, then immediately hid inside his space.

"BOOM!!!!!!" A heaven-shaking, earth-shattering roar exploded, and the very ground trembled.

A massive fireball soared into the sky, instantly swallowing the entire truck and the surrounding dozens of meters.
