Chapter 498: Raiding the Vault
Five days later, He Yuzhu piloted a US Military patrol boat into Tokyo Bay.
The sea surface was calm, and no one dared to come forward to intercept him.
In the distance, several Self-Defense Force ships watched from afar, even signaling with friendly flags to greet him.
He Yuzhu paid them no mind; his gaze swept across the darkening horizon as he steered the boat to a secluded stretch of water and brought it to a steady halt.
Seeing that no one around was paying attention, he moved his mind, and the entire patrol boat vanished without a sound.
He Yuzhu quickly left the pier, released the American Jeep, and sped toward the center of Tokyo.
Compared to when he first arrived here in 1948, the changes in Tokyo were immense.
Although the scars left by the bombing had not yet fully healed and many ruins were overgrown with weeds, most of the buildings had been renovated.
On the streets, one could see ten-year-old children everywhere, carrying wooden boxes and soliciting pedestrians to shine their shoes with their youthful voices.
Trams clattered back and forth, while Jeeps and trucks driven by American soldiers barreled through, carrying an air of recklessness.
He Yuzhu pulled over to the side, asked for directions a few times, and soon found the Bank of Japan.
Because the bank was not open to the public, He Yuzhu could only pretend to be taking a stroll and circled the perimeter.
Through Scanning, he discovered that the vault was located twenty meters below the main building, had two heavy doors, and was guarded by fourteen or fifteen people.
After figuring out the situation, He Yuzhu saw that he still had plenty of time, so he found a decent restaurant and had a big meal.
Late at night, he first circled to the back of the bank building, found an empty spot to quickly climb to the third floor, opened a window, and slipped into the building.
In the dim light, two guards were sitting on chairs, drowsy, their heads bobbing.
He Yuzhu's figure was like lightning; he approached in an instant and, with a thought, pulled them into his space.
He changed into the security uniform of one of them.
Afterward, he found the stairs leading to the underground vault and entered the vault area.
Unlike the dimness of the upper floors, this place was brightly lit; there was a security room in the hallway with five people on guard, and seven or eight others were patrolling back and forth.
Attacking directly would be troublesome, so he decided to cut the power first; He Yuzhu quickly found the electrical room for this floor and pulled the main breaker.
In an instant, the entire underground area plunged into pitch darkness, with only a few dim red emergency lights remaining on.
He Yuzhu returned to the vault level and saw all the security guards gathered at the first door of the vault, guns pointed outward, in a state of high alert.
He Yuzhu did not hesitate in the slightest; he raised his hand from the shadows and threw a Hand Grenade.
Boom—!
The sound of the explosion was deafening in the confined space; half the figures fell to the ground, and cries of agony rang out in unison.
He did not stop his movements, immediately throwing two more.
After the continuous explosions, the entrance fell into complete silence, leaving only choking smoke and the smell of blood.
He Yuzhu knew that the massive explosion must have already alerted the outside world, and there was not much time left for the operation.
He stepped forward quickly and, with a thought, pulled that thick iron door into his space.
Not even fifty meters later, he encountered the second door.
This door was made of Special Steel, a full thirty to forty centimeters thick, like a wall of bronze and iron.
The door was also equipped with a multi-dial mechanical combination lock, and the door frame was completely integrated with the surrounding concrete structure.
He Yuzhu stopped in front of the door, took a deep breath, pressed his hand against the cold surface, concentrated all his focus, and whispered in his heart: "Collect!"
He felt his body tremble slightly, as if a significant amount of strength had been drained in an instant, and that massive steel door vanished instantly.
He Yuzhu's heartbeat quickened; it seemed that collecting such a massive and fixed, sturdy object was a bit of an overload for the system.
He walked quickly into the vault and found that under the emergency lights, rows of gold bars on steel racks were gleaming with a yellow luster, very tempting.
He Yuzhu smiled; he moved his mind, and all the gold within ten meters of him was collected into his space.
He moved through the interior of the vault, quickly collecting all the remaining gold, silver, and bundles of US dollar cash.
In less than five minutes, the large vault was completely empty.
He did not hesitate, turning and sprinting outward. Just as he rushed into the bank's first-floor lobby, the chaotic sound of police footsteps could already be heard outside the door.
He Yuzhu immediately turned and rushed up the stairs.
Reaching the third floor, he pushed open a window at the end of the corridor, leaped out, rolled forward upon landing to dissipate the force, and stood up to sprint toward the outskirts of the city.
The piercing sound of sirens drew near, and a large number of police and military vehicles had sealed off the entire bank area layer by layer, the beams of searchlights cutting through the night sky.
He Yuzhu ran for half an hour before stopping; he released the military Jeep from his space and drove toward Tokyo Bay.
The roads at night were much emptier, and the Jeep soon reached the pier.
He released the US Military patrol boat and set sail immediately.
He Yuzhu sailed on the sea day and night for seven days and nights before reaching Hong Kong.
He slept in Zhang Shuying's home for two days before finally recovering the mental and physical energy he had expended.
After waking up, he entered his space to take stock of his gains: a total of 10.5 tons of gold, over 20 tons of silver, plus five million US dollars in cash and several file boxes marked "Confidential."
Looking at the mountain of wealth piled up in his space, He Yuzhu burst into laughter.
On the third day, he washed away his fatigue, put on clean clothes, and went to find Zhao Ying.
"The boat couldn't be brought back," He Yuzhu said, getting straight to the point. "As soon as I arrived there, many of the ships at the port were bombed! I didn't see Su Qing either; is he alright?"
Zhao Ying sat behind her desk, looking at him with a half-smile: "Su Qing and those crew members are all fine. They were released and returned to the United States. I heard that the incident over there caused quite a stir; the US Military lost several warships, and dozens of planes were blown up. This has become international headline news!"
"The locals are saying that American soldiers kidnapped an alien, and this alien got furious..." He Yuzhu twitched the corner of his mouth and said with a smile.
"Don't try to pull the wool over my eyes, kid. We suffered quite a loss this time; you have to make it up to us," Zhao Ying glared at him and said.
"I didn't get a damn thing this time; what am I supposed to pay you with?" He Yuzhu spread his hands, feigning helplessness.
"Stop pretending to be poor with me. Do you think I'm a fool? Even if those planes weren't blown up by you, the theft of the Japanese vault—wasn't that your handiwork?" Zhao Ying asked directly, her gaze locked tightly onto him.
He Yuzhu blinked and said, "What's your price?"
"Two million US dollars for me personally. You don't need to worry about the shipping company's compensation; it will come out of the company's accounts. You won't lose out!" Zhao Ying walked over and wrapped her arms around He Yuzhu's neck.
"Aren't you poaching the company's own foundation?" He Yuzhu said with a smile.
"Who told that United States shareholder to be completely useless! We only let him join back then to use his status to protect us, but when real trouble happened, he did nothing at all. How could we possibly still share money with him? From now on, the company will be operating at a loss!" Zhao Ying shook her head and said.
"That makes sense. Then how many shares do the three of us have in the Eastern Shipping Company?" He Yuzhu asked.
"A total of 75%. That American holds 20%, and Uncle Biao has 5%," Zhao Ying let go of her hands and sat back down opposite him.
"I agree with your suggestion, but I don't have that much money. Is one million United States dollars okay?" He Yuzhu said.
"You little brat, you're getting stingier by the day. The company has to pay out 1 million United States dollars to you, and you even got the goods, yet you're only giving me this little bit? Do you have no shame?" Zhao Ying glared at him, speaking without any politeness.
"Sister, I'm not raising money for myself this time. I've started a big project in Guangdong that requires quite a lot of money..." He Yuzhu said seriously.
Zhao Ying stared at him for a few seconds and nodded: "Add another five hundred thousand, nothing less!"
"Deal!" He Yuzhu agreed readily.
"However, I'm afraid the Eastern Shipping Company won't have any profits this year, so don't count on any dividends either!" Zhao Ying finalized the matter, then remembered something, "Right, do you want to see Liu Rusi? I'll arrange it with her immediately."
He Yuzhu nodded: "As soon as possible, I'll wait for your news."
