Chapter 539: On the Road

~9 min read 1,679 words

He Yuzhu lit a cigarette and took a deep drag, the smoke slowly dissipating in the air. "Do you two have a place to stay?"

Nina shook her head: "We originally planned to leave for Mexico after finishing this job, so we've already checked out of our place."

"Then come back to the hotel with me first." He Yuzhu flicked the ash from his cigarette. "Let's have a good discussion about what we need to do next!"

Nina nodded, then said: "I have an idea—let's go to Philadelphia. It's not far from here, and there are a lot of banks there."

"Are there banks with vaults?" He Yuzhu asked. "If there are, let's do something big if we're going to do it at all."

"You're saying the three of us should rob a vault? Is that even possible?" Nina was slightly taken aback.

He Yuzhu nodded. "I don't need you to do anything else; just help me keep watch and lend a hand. When the time comes, you can take as much gold as you want."

Nina smiled. "That's exciting! I know there's a Federal Reserve Bank near the mint with a large vault. But even if we get into the vault, how are we going to transport the gold out?"

"I just like doing exciting things. As for the haul, we'll let nature take its course—we'll take as much as we can carry." He Yuzhu crushed the cigarette butt and said nonchalantly.

He could not yet tell the two about his special Space Ability.

"I'm in!" Nina extended her fist to show her commitment, much like taking an oath.

As the three drove past a bar, He Yuzhu suddenly slowed the car down.

On the side of the road, a stout man was parking a Chrysler New Yorker into a space.

He Yuzhu took the opportunity to park his car right next to him.

Immediately after, the middle-aged fat man walked toward the bar with a young woman in his arms; he hadn't walked more than a few steps when his car keys hit the ground with a "clatter."

Only He Yuzhu knew that he had caused the drop using his Space Ability.

Watching the two enter the bar, He Yuzhu walked over slowly, picked up the keys, returned, and opened the door of the Chrysler.

He sat in the driver's seat and gestured to Nina and Vasili.

The two quickly looked around to ensure no one was watching, then pulled open the doors and scrambled into the back seat.

He Yuzhu turned the ignition, and the car slid silently into the night, accelerating as it drove away.

After driving for a few blocks, they arrived near the hotel where he was staying, and He Yuzhu stopped the car.

"If this car is still here tomorrow morning, we'll drive it to Philadelphia," He Yuzhu said while locking the car door.

Vasili even gave the black sedan a pat before leaving.

Back at the hotel, He Yuzhu arranged for Nina and Vasili to stay in his room, while he stayed with Su Qing.

As soon as they entered, Su Qing asked anxiously: "There are so many police cars outside, was that your doing?"

He Yuzhu nodded and told him everything that happened that afternoon in detail.

After listening, a smile appeared at the corner of Su Qing's mouth: "Zhuzi, you handled this beautifully... With those two around, no one will easily link what we do in the future to you."

"That's not necessarily true, but I can't think about that much right now..." He Yuzhu said flatly.

Su Qing nodded.

At dinnertime, the four of them went to Chinatown together.

Su Qing deliberately brought them to He Ji Restaurant, which He Yuzhu had founded.

He ordered a few signature dishes. While eating, He Yuzhu felt that the taste of the food here had completely changed: the Kung Pao Chicken was exceptionally sweet, the fish slices in the Boiled Fish were extremely thick, and it was quite fishy.

In short, not a single dish was right.

Su Qing smiled and said: "Has the taste changed?"

"As long as the locals like it, it has nothing to do with us anyway," He Yuzhu said.

Vasili, however, quite liked it, as he was particularly fond of sweets.

The four of them had a meal together, and they finally got to know each other.

Early the next morning, the four of them drove off, heading straight for Philadelphia.

The total distance was about two hundred kilometers, which could be reached in three hours by car.

Vasili was a man of few words; he and Su Qing sat in the back, and the two didn't have much to say to each other along the way.

He Yuzhu and Nina, on the other hand, had endless topics to discuss, from international politics to science and technology; unexpectedly, the thing they were both most interested in was stocks.

The two chatted all the way, and it felt like they reached the suburbs of Philadelphia very quickly.

Suddenly, Patrol Police appeared ahead, setting up a roadblock to check vehicles.

Nina immediately tensed up: "Xiao He, what should we do about the guns and money in our trunk?"

He Yuzhu laughed: "The United States allows gun ownership, what are you afraid of?"

"But I don't have a permit to carry a gun!" Nina became nervous instantly.

He Yuzhu curled his lip and said indifferently: "If they target us on purpose, just shoot them dead." Before he finished speaking, a gun had already appeared in his hand.

Nina, sitting in the passenger seat, was shocked: "Your movements are too fast!"

"So, you don't need to worry!" He Yuzhu said with certainty.

Before their conversation could end, a Patrol Police officer had already walked toward them.

He Yuzhu rolled down the window with a calm smile on his face: "Sir, is there a problem?"

The tall, thin Patrol Police officer kept one hand on his waist, his gaze sweeping through the car: "Please show me your driver's license."

Seeing two Chinese people and two white people of East Europe appearance together in the car, he became alert.

"My license is in the backpack in the trunk," He Yuzhu said naturally, "I'll get out and get it for you."

Just as he pushed the car door open, the tall, thin Patrol Police officer suddenly took two steps back, his right hand jerked his service weapon out, and the muzzle pointed directly at He Yuzhu's forehead: "Wait, everyone, take out your identification!"

"Don't be nervous." He Yuzhu's movements remained slow, but the corner of his eye caught two more Patrol Police officers walking quickly toward them from the front.

He walked around to the back of the car, opened the trunk, and took his driver's license out of his black backpack—it was a real license he had obtained seven or eight years ago, and the face in the photo looked a bit more callow than he did now.

The tall, thin Patrol Police officer took the license and checked it carefully, then said: "Show me your vehicle registration?"

He Yuzhu shook his head and said: "Sir, you should have said so earlier! The vehicle registration is in the front."

The tall, thin Patrol Police officer suddenly beckoned to the two Patrol Police officers in front.

The two people ran over quickly and surrounded He Yuzhu.

"I suspect they are spies!" the thin, tall man whispered.

He spoke in accented English at a very fast speed, but He Yuzhu heard him clearly.

Nina and the other three people were slowly pulling out their identification documents from their bodies.

The thin, tall Patrol Police officer's Pistol moved repeatedly across the four people, as if these four could pull out guns at any moment.

He Yuzhu sighed and said, "Cop, don't be nervous!"

Upon hearing this, the three Patrol Police officers were not relieved at all; instead, they became even more nervous, exchanged a glance, and were about to make a move.

He Yuzhu thought to himself, is it not good for you few to stay alive? You insist on pinning the label of spies on us; truly, good words cannot persuade a ghost that is destined to die.

Vasili and Nina also saw the three men's intentions, and Vasili had already slowly moved his hand behind his back, preparing to draw his Dagger.

The thin, tall Patrol Police officer holding the gun slowly approached He Yuzhu.

Seeing that this fight was unavoidable, He Yuzhu threw his first punch like lightning.

The thin, tall man's jaw was shattered instantly; he didn't even grunt and collapsed to the ground, unconscious.

A big-built Patrol Police officer wanted to draw his gun, but before his hand could touch the grip, he was kicked in the back of the neck by He Yuzhu and fainted immediately.

The third person had already reached his hand into his pants pocket, wanting to fire a shot directly from inside the pocket in the style of a West cowboy, but he was kicked to the ground by a sharp kick from Vasili.

He Yuzhu saw Vasili and Nina subdue that short Patrol Police officer.

He walked quickly to the front of the two people who had fallen to the ground.

"Crack! Crack!" Two sounds.

He twisted the necks of the two Patrol Police officers directly.

Seeing He Yuzhu do this, Nina also instructed Vasili, "Finish him off!"

Vasili's movements were also very swift; following He Yuzhu's example, he used all his strength to end that person's life.

"How are you going to deal with these corpses?" Nina walked over and asked.

"How else can I deal with them? Just throw them into the ditch!" After He Yuzhu finished speaking, he picked up the two corpses and threw them into the ditch below.

When Vasili threw the third corpse into the ditch, He Yuzhu took advantage of the moment he turned around to walk back and stored all three into his space. This way, it would not cause trouble for the four of them.
