Chapter 541: Gold Rush Chronicles
Just as He Yuzhu, Nina, and Vasili entered the office building with the suitcase, a piercing alarm suddenly sounded from the bank, instantly tearing through the silence of the night.
Nina's expression tightened, and she asked urgently in a low voice, "Little He, what should we do?"
"You two go first, head straight back to the hotel, leave the suitcase for me to handle!" He Yuzhu spoke quickly, yet with unusual composure.
Nina looked at him in disbelief.
He Yuzhu's gaze was exceptionally firm as he nodded at them.
Nina and Vasili exchanged a glance, hesitated no longer, and ran quickly back the way they came, vanishing into the night.
Seeing the two had gone far away, He Yuzhu's mind stirred, and he directly stored the large leather suitcase into his space.
He also left the area quickly, seeing countless police cars speeding toward him along the road.
He Yuzhu returned to the hotel a step ahead, and after waiting for quite a while, Nina and the others returned.
He Yuzhu knocked on the door and had the two come into his room.
That large leather suitcase was placed right in the center of the room.
"Little He, you... how were you so fast?" Nina's eyes widened as she looked at him in disbelief.
He Yuzhu smiled and said, "If I hadn't been held back by the big suitcase, I might have been even faster."
He leaned over and opened the suitcase.
Inside, thick stacks of US banknotes were neatly arranged, with thirty large gold bars along the side.
In reality, there were over two million dollars in the suitcase alone, along with several dozen kilograms of gold.
Nina was so happy she nearly jumped up: "Little He, you are just too amazing!"
"This is nothing," He Yuzhu said in a flat tone.
He thought to himself, if these two knew he had collected nearly three hundred tons of gold this time, they would probably even have the heart to kill him.
"Nina, you come and divide it!" He Yuzhu said.
Nina was a bit embarrassed at first, but later, under He Yuzhu's urging, she divided the banknotes and gold into two equal portions.
"Actually, I feel ashamed even taking half from you; today was all thanks to you," Nina said.
He Yuzhu waved his hand and smiled: "We both contributed our own strength, don't be so polite!"
At dawn, the three of them hadn't slept long before they were woken up by Su Qing.
Su Qing drove the three of them away from Philadelphia quickly.
Nina was in an excellent mood and even hummed a Soviet Union song softly.
After she finished singing a verse, He Yuzhu spoke up: "My next stop is Ohio; I want to go buy some corn. If you are interested, we can go together; if you have other plans, we can part ways here."
Nina felt a bit sad after hearing this. She thought for a moment, discussed it with Vasili, and said: "Little He, we don't want to leave you either, but we want to take care of this money first. Afterward, we can cooperate again."
He Yuzhu nodded—anyone would feel uneasy carrying such a large amount of cash around. "Alright, then let's set a place to meet."
"Then let's meet in Pittsburgh," Nina said quickly, naming the meeting place.
"No problem. We're going to Ohio; we should be able to finish our business in two or three days!" He Yuzhu said.
The car sped along the road.
Two days later, they arrived in Pittsburgh, and the two groups parted ways there.
Before parting, Nina promised repeatedly that they would definitely wait for He Yuzhu to return.
He Yuzhu didn't really care. It was just a chance encounter; it would be fine if they could continue to cooperate, and it wouldn't matter if they couldn't—he didn't rely on them anyway.
After parting with Nina, He Yuzhu and Su Qing did not leave Pittsburgh, but instead stayed at an inn near the steel factory.
Su Qing put down the luggage and looked at He Yuzhu: "Zhuzi, are you having another operation tonight?"
He Yuzhu smiled: "This place is known as the 'Steel Factory' city; since we're already here, wouldn't it be a wasted trip if we didn't 'visit' it?"
Su Qing was helpless and urged: "According to the news from the past few days, the two major bank cases have already attracted the attention of the higher-ups. Once we take things here, they will send heavy troops to surround us. Therefore, we cannot stay in this place for long; we must leave at dawn tomorrow."
"I understand, even if I don't sleep, I'll leave!" He Yuzhu agreed readily.
Late at night, He Yuzhu left the inn alone and headed toward the largest Thompson Liangangchang in the city.
The steel factory was still roaring and operating in the night, the blast furnaces reflecting a faint red glow against the sky.
Inside the factory area, workers were still busy.
He Yuzhu quickly knocked out a security guard and changed into his clothes.
From then on, even if someone saw him, no one would stop him.
He patrolled the factory area like a ghost, taking almost everything he saw: mountains of steel bars, rolls of special steel, diesel and gasoline in the warehouses, as well as steel smelting equipment and parts.
When he saw several huge converters in a large warehouse, a flash of excitement appeared in He Yuzhu's eyes—his industrial park was just lacking this equipment!
He quickly stored these huge converters into his space.
For the next two hours or so, he took enough things to build a new steel factory.
After coming out of the Thompson Liangangchang, he didn't stop, but also visited the Jones Liangangchang, and similarly had a "bountiful harvest."
The operation went so smoothly mainly thanks to his security guard uniform.
He Yuzhu returned to the inn and directly woke up Su Qing: "You drive, we are going to the grain depot in Ohio now."
In the dim morning light, the car drove out of Pittsburgh and sped toward Ohio.
He Yuzhu slept for over two hours in the car before waking up.
He lit a cigarette, and after finishing it, he threw the butt out the window.
"You've been reading the newspaper for the past two days; have you figured out any useful information?"
Su Qing nodded: "The newspaper didn't report the theft of the vault."
He Yuzhu's eyes lit up and he said: "That's great, we can continue to pull off a few more jobs, and Nina won't blame me for giving her less money."
Su Qing shook his head and said: "My analysis is that they won't use the police force next, but will directly deploy the military... Once they know we have come to Pittsburgh, they will probably surround us from all directions very soon."
He Yuzhu nodded: "That is indeed possible. Once we finish with the grain, we will move out quickly."
Su Qing said, "In that operation in New York, many witnesses saw Vasili and Nina. The Federal people have likely already pinned this series of cases on the two of them, which is actually a favorable thing for us."
He Yuzhu also agreed with her viewpoint.
Two days later, He Yuzhu and Su Qing appeared in a hotel near ToledoPier.
The next morning, He Yuzhu disguised himself as a grain merchant, and Su Qing also changed her appearance, becoming He Yuzhu's Secretary.
Through Su Qing's efforts overnight, business cards and various documents were prepared.
The two falsely claimed to be grain merchants from Nomura Corporation, having come to negotiate a grain purchase.
They found a company called ADM.
When the other party heard that this batch of grain was ultimately to be shipped to Hong Kong in Asia, Manager John immediately shook his head: "We are currently not permitted to ship goods to Hong Kong."
He Yuzhu and Su Qing immediately said, "Could we first ship this batch of grain to New York, and then transship it from New York to Hong Kong?"
Before the Manager could speak, a white man in his fifties said arrogantly, "Our grain is not hard to sell right now; we cannot do this business of yours. You two, please leave!" Having said that, he actually drove the two of them straight out.
He Yuzhu, having been kicked out the door, felt a sense of relief in his heart instead.
Since the other party was so arrogant, there would be no psychological burden when it came time to deal with him later.
