Chapter 549: Just Let Things Take Their Natural Course

~9 min read 1,612 words

The expression on He Yuzhu's face softened slightly; he waved his hand gently at Nina, signaling them to relax.

A flash of surprise crossed Nina's eyes, but her tense shoulders still dropped slightly.

Mr. Qian's family began to line up to board the ship, with the six plainclothes officers following closely behind, their sharp gazes scanning the surrounding crowd.

An FBI agent's gaze shifted away from Nina and landed on He Yuzhu's face.

Two East Asian faces traveling with two East European faces still made him feel that something was wrong.

His hand brushed unconsciously against his waist, the place where he kept his gun.

From his imperceptible movement, He Yuzhu still read his alertness.

He did not want to look for trouble and chatted with Su Qing very relaxedly.

Mr. Qian and his wife were also talking in low voices, their expressions quite composed.

The two children held their tickets, and the little girl looked up and asked her brother, "Can we see the ocean from the Third-class Cabin?"

The brother said vaguely, "Some can, some can't."

"Then can our ticket see the ocean or not?" the younger sister continued to ask.

"This, I can't calculate either!" the brother could only tell the truth.

The younger sister was not satisfied with this answer, pursed her lips, and turned her head away.

He Yuzhu had no intention of getting involved in the Qian family's affairs.

He knew that this family would eventually return to their homeland, and his own participation might be a bad thing; it was best to let everything take its natural course.

The four of them began to board the ship, and coincidentally, their cabin was only separated from the Qian family's by one room.

The plainclothes officer named Baker had already been suspicious of He Yuzhu and his group, and this time, it made him even more certain that the identities of these few people were not simple.

His eyes, like a venomous snake, prowled over the four of them.

He Yuzhu did not want to be his enemy and even said kindly, "Come to our room to visit when you have time."

Baker did not pay any attention to him at all.

Nina put her luggage into the cabin and then ran off to use the restroom.

Baker called over a white man with a large head and said, "The four people in Cabin 6 are very suspicious; they look like spies sent by both China and the Soviet Union. Mason, go check their background as soon as possible."

Mason glanced at Baker somewhat reluctantly and said, "The ship hasn't sailed yet, and the purser is busy. I'll go after the ship sets sail."

Baker nodded, "Fine, you keep an eye on things here, I'm going to the deck to get some air."

Not long after Baker left, Mason slipped into his own cabin, leaving the door ajar, and lay lazily on the bed, drinking beer while staring at the Qian family's door. The other four plainclothes officers went to their cabins to sleep.

The conversation between Baker and Mason was heard clearly by Nina, who was in the restroom.

Seeing that there was no one in the corridor, she hurried back to their cabin: "Xiao He, it's bad! Those plainclothes officers are going to investigate us!"

He Yuzhu nodded, seemingly having guessed the thoughts of those people long ago. He stood up and said, "There are only six of them, and they are truly unruly. In a while, I will throw them into the ocean."

Nina calmed down only then.

He Yuzhu also began to apply makeup on himself; he first put a long golden wig on his head, then desperately applied foundation to his face and neck, and he also had Nina do some makeup on his face.

It was not until the ship's whistle blew long and loud and the steamer had already started moving that He Yuzhu slowly walked out of the cabin.

The lighting in the Third-class Cabin corridor was not very good, and the air was filled with the smell of machine oil mixed with seawater.

He Yuzhu walked outside the ship purser's office and raised his hand to knock on the door.

"Come in." A middle-aged man's voice sounded.

Pushing the door open and entering, he saw a middle-aged white man wearing glasses hunched over his desk, flipping through documents.

He Yuzhu spoke up: "Sir, may I ask if there are any First-class or Super Luxury Suite cabins available? We would like to upgrade from the Third-class Cabin."

The purser, Mark, pretended to flip through the folder at his side: "There are a few, but they are all reserved for passengers boarding from Hawaii in five days. I cannot give them to you!"

"If we only stay until the Hawaii leg and then move back, would that work? We don't care about the money." As He Yuzhu said this, he calmly took the Passenger Register on the table into his space.

Mark frowned, as if weighing the options, and looked up a moment later: "There is a Super Luxury Suite that was returned; it has a private balcony. It's fifteen hundred dollars. Will you take it?"

"Of course," He Yuzhu agreed very readily.

"Pay now, and I'll give you the key." Before Mark had finished speaking, a knock on the door suddenly sounded.

"Come in!"

Mason pushed the door open and entered, scanned He Yuzhu brazenly, did not recognize him, and said directly to Mark: "Check the Passports of those four people in Cabin 6 of the Third-class section for me."

Mark looked up: "May I ask who you are..."

Mason flashed his credentials: "FBI on official business."

Mark immediately waved at He Yuzhu: "You wait outside first; we'll talk after I finish handling this."

"Damn it," He Yuzhu cursed in a low voice, dissatisfied.

Mason had sharp ears and sensed his anger, glaring: "Son of a bitch! I'm on official business, get the hell out!"

He Yuzhu gave him the middle finger, turned around, and closed the door.

He stood in the shadows outside the door, and before long, Mason rushed out in a panic.

This also verified that this person had come to investigate their identities. He Yuzhu's mind stirred, and he directly took the arrogant Mason into his space.

Almost at the same time, the sound of Mark making a phone call came from inside the cabin: "Joe, where did you put the Passenger Register?"

"I put it right on your desk!" A young man's slightly nervous voice came through the receiver.

"Get over here and find it for me, damn you!" Mark shouted.

He Yuzhu quickly used the transfer ability of his space to move the register back to its original place.

Soon, a young man came running into the purser's office from another room, panting.

Soon, Mark's exclamation came from the office: "Damn it, it's haunted! I looked for it three or four times and couldn't find it, but it appeared as soon as you came!"

He Yuzhu did not linger, and for the time being, he did not want to upgrade his cabin either, so he quickly turned back toward the Third-class Cabin area.

The remaining five plainclothes officers were chatting with their cabin door wide open. He Yuzhu walked straight toward them and said, "Gentlemen, do you have a match?"

Several people looked at him in astonishment, and seeing them nervously reaching for their guns, He Yuzhu laughed; with a thought, the five people vanished instantly without a trace.

Returning to his cabin, he spoke of having dealt with the six FBI agents.

Nina said worriedly, "We're in trouble now. Six FBI agents disappearing into thin air will surely alert the higher-ups; it's possible the ship will be intercepted upon reaching Hawaii for a thorough inspection of everyone."

Su Qing lowered her eyes in thought for a long while, then raised her head and said, "There is another way—when the ship is close to Hawaii, you go ahead. There are many military bases there; as long as there is a big commotion over there, no one will be able to spare any attention for this ship."

He Yuzhu gave Su Qing's shoulder a heavy pat: "A feint to the east to attack in the west, good idea!"

Nina asked, "But how will you get there?"

He Yuzhu laughed: "You don't need to worry about that, I will leave two days early. By the way, Nina, go to the purser later and spend 1,500 to book that luxury suite."

"Alright." Nina nodded.

Three peaceful days passed, and no one on the ship looked for those six agents, because He Yuzhu did not move into that luxury suite, but instead stayed in the room belonging to those six FBI agents the whole time.

Another day passed, and the Qian family also managed to exchange for First-class Cabin tickets through an old friend on the ship.

The night was deep, and He Yuzhu, Nina, Su Qing, and Waxi were still sitting on a small patch of deck outside the luxury suite drinking beer.

He Yuzhu took a look at the calm sea, took three Mauser C96s out of his backpack, and said, "After I leave, if you encounter danger, just open fire directly, don't be afraid, I will be waiting for you in Hawaii."

Nina asked, "Are you leaving now?"

He Yuzhu nodded, he waved to the three of them, and leaped into the pitch-black sea.

Nina was so shocked she covered her mouth, her voice trembling: "He... won't be... by sharks..."

Su Qing gazed at the bottomless sea and shook her head with a smile.
