Chapter 6: He Yuzhu is Betrayed by His Teacher
The next day, He Yuzhu went to school early in the morning. He was very well-behaved today and had no intention of going to Qianmen to listen to storytelling; the main reason was that there were many more Japanese devils patrolling the streets than usual.
He spent the entire morning sleeping with his head on his desk, but near noon, the area outside the classroom suddenly became noisy.
Mr. Sun, who was teaching the Chinese literature class, opened the door, took one look outside, and hurriedly shrank back.
Outside the classroom, several puppet soldiers, led by a small ringleader, were walking toward this classroom with a murderous look.
The gleaming bayonets in their hands flashed with a cold light in the sunlight, and their leather boots made a "clack-clack" sound as they stepped on the ground.
The white-faced fat man in the lead kicked the classroom door open with one foot.
The students in the classroom were all so frightened that they screamed.
He Yuzhu lifted his head in a daze and cursed, "Which bastard is disturbing my sleep?"
He Yuzhu's desk mate, Ma Laoer, covered his mouth with one hand and whispered, "Zhuzi, are you looking for death? The puppet soldiers are here to make arrests."
The white-faced fat man shouted at Mr. Sun, "You, stop the damn class! Everyone over one meter five, go to the playground and assemble for me!"
The classroom was instantly in a state of panic, and the children were so scared their faces turned pale.
Without the teacher's permission, the children did not move their bodies.
He Yuzhu curled his lips, feeling a bit worried, guessing that they might be searching for the person who emptied the Japanese trading firm yesterday.
In any case, he had put on a disguise, and the shopkeeper was dead; no one had been in close contact with him. No one should have recognized him.
"Students, everyone go to the playground!" the teacher said.
The students began to walk out of the classroom in an orderly fashion, but several puppet soldiers thought they were too slow and kept pushing the students.
A bearded man impatiently brandished his rifle butt, slamming it against a desk with a loud bang: "Don't dawdle! Get to the playground quickly! Are you looking for death?"
A puppet soldier who looked like a hemp stalk even more brutally grabbed the collar of a boy who was moving a bit slowly, grinning hideously: "You little brat, still not moving fast enough? Are you waiting for your grandpa to carry you?"
He Yuzhu, who happened to be passing by, glared at him and whispered, "Dogs relying on their master's power!"
The hemp stalk picked up his rifle butt and smashed it toward He Yuzhu.
He Yuzhu dodged to the side and ran off like a rabbit.
On the playground, the cold wind was biting.
Over a hundred half-grown children were ordered to line up by height, shivering under the cold light of the bayonets like a flock of lambs waiting to be slaughtered.
The white-faced fat man held a portrait drawn in an extremely exaggerated manner (thick eyebrows looking just like two caterpillars, the face covered in pockmark-like black dots, and two comical little mustaches) and paced among the children, his pair of triangular eyes constantly scanning their faces.
He Yuzhu stood at the front of the line; he stole a glance at the portrait and almost laughed out loud. Who drew this? It was too ugly.
Several puppet soldiers were quite "earnest," actually using this absurd portrait to pick out over a dozen "suspects" from the group of naive students.
The dozen or so children were trembling and sobbing incessantly.
The few puppet soldiers were quite satisfied; arresting these children meant they could trade them for money.
"Principal, I'll take these few away first," the white-faced fat man said.
Anyone with a discerning eye could see what they were up to; they just wanted the children's parents to spend money to bail them out.
At this moment, Principal Feng, who had been fawning on the side, finally steeled himself and stepped forward, speaking cautiously: "Officer, may I ask, when was your trading firm robbed?"
"Around noon! What? Do you have an opinion?" The white-faced fat man rolled his eyes and said.
Once Principal Feng heard this, he felt more confident. He straightened his back slightly and piled a smile on his face: "Officer, please look clearly! Yesterday, around noon, these students of ours, including the ones you picked out, were all sitting in the classroom and never left the school gate for even a step! Wangfujing is not close to here; even if they grew wings, they couldn't fly over! We, our teachers, can all testify!"
When the white-faced fat man heard this, he was also stunned. How could he have forgotten this? He felt a bit embarrassed.
However, his eyes rolled, and he suddenly raised his voice and shouted loudly: "That makes sense, scholars are indeed sharp. Then, let me ask you, can you guarantee that all two hundred plus people in your school were present yesterday around noon? If anyone was missing, you old thing, I will hold you accountable."
When Principal Feng heard this, he was instantly dumbfounded. He shouted to the teachers: "Teachers, please take a count and report the students who didn't attend class yesterday to me."
The playground was deathly silent, with only the cold wind howling.
All the students' and teachers' gazes subconsciously avoided the eyes of the puppet soldiers.
Just then, Mr. Ma in the crowd had an extremely complex look flash in his eyes. He suddenly raised his hand and pointed at He Yuzhu: "Report, Officer! He Yuzhu from our class! He asked for leave and went out early yesterday morning!"
He Yuzhu's heart sank! He turned his head abruptly, his cold gaze like a physical blade, fiercely gouging at Mr. Ma's face, which was twisted by the act of informing! What a traitorous Ma! I have no grudge against you, yet you dare to betray me. This grudge, I will remember!
"Good lad! So it was you!" The hemp stalk grinned hideously and grabbed He Yuzhu's arm.
Two other puppet soldiers also pounced over and brutally twisted He Yuzhu's arms!
Principal Feng opened his mouth, wanting to say something, but looking at the murderous face of the puppet soldier leader and the cold-flashing bayonets, he finally just sighed dejectedly and nodded powerlessly.
"Principal, I'm taking this kid away. If his family wants him back, go to the Military Police!"
He Yuzhu was brutally pushed as he was led away. When passing by Mr. Ma, he paused slightly, turned his head, and said mockingly: "Mr. Ma, you... really are a 'good' teacher. When I get out, I'll settle the score with you!"
Mr. Ma felt a chill in his heart and couldn't help but take half a step back.
Walking out of the school gate, the cold wind hit their faces.
He Yuzhu was sandwiched between four puppet soldiers.
The hemp stalk cursed: "You little brat, tell us, what does your family do, and does your family have 100 Big Ocean?"
He Yuzhu squeezed a look of "fear" onto his face, his voice sounding tearful: "Officer, you'd better let me go... My dad is just a broke cook about to lose his job; my family is so poor we don't have a penny to our name, you really can't squeeze any oil out of us."
"As the saying goes, a cook won't starve in a famine year. If your family has no money, don't you have a house!" The bearded man laughed meanly.
"Unfortunately, my house is rented!"
The white-faced fat man said coldly: "You kid are definitely not a good thing. Even if you didn't rob the trading firm, you must have done other bad things; otherwise, you wouldn't be so calm."
"Big Brother, no wonder you became a captain! Your words hit the nail on the head." The bearded man chimed in.
He Yuzhu saw that these people were determined to get something out of him, so he had to show his cards: "Brother White-Face is right. I am actually a Buddha. If you guys can let me off today, I don't have much, but giving you guys one hundred Big Ocean is no problem. However, you have to come home with me to get it; I don't have it on me."
"Didn't I say this kid wasn't a good thing!" The white-faced fat man suddenly punched He Yuzhu.
"Why are you hitting me!" He Yuzhu glared.
"Hitting you is letting you off easy. Since you've fallen into my hands this time, don't think about going back without five hundred Big Ocean!" The white-faced fat man said insidiously.
"Aren't you guys just wanting money? You value this stuff, but I don't care. As long as you let me go, I'll help you make money. As long as you tell me who has money, I can get it back for you!"
"Look at how capable you are. To tell you the truth, I'm not only taking your money today, but I'm also going to hand you over to His Excellency Guitian. I don't care if you were the one who robbed the trading firm or not, I'm just going to say it was you!" The white-faced fat man said insidiously.
"White Pangzi, you're being a bit ungenerous here. We have no grudges or enmity, so why are you trying to put me to death? As the saying goes: every extra enemy is another wall in your way. Who knows, one day you might fall into my hands, and when that time comes, you'll have plenty to regret!"
"Hey! You little bastard, you dare to threaten me? I see you don't want to live anymore." White Pangzi reached out, wanting to strike.
Unexpectedly, the hand he reached out was suddenly grabbed by He Yuzhu, and White Pangzi's body instantly twisted and stretched, then vanished without a trace.
The other three collaborators saw this scene clearly, and they were so scared their jaws dropped.
"There's a ghost! Run!" the bearded man screamed hysterically.
