Chapter 610: Fishing

~8 min read 1,546 words

After hearing Yang Yong's assurance, He Yuzhu smiled and said, "I'm not letting you help for nothing; I've brought you some things." Having said that, he waved his hand, signaling Yang Yong to have his men move the cargo.

Yang Yong opened the truck door, his eyes nearly popping out—the cargo bed was stacked neatly with nothing but snow-white flour, at least twenty-some bags, with over a dozen crates of canned pork piled beside them.

"Zhuzi, th-this is from your factory, right?" Yang Yong's tongue was tied. "I can't accept such a heavy gift from you!"

"Are you that timid?" He Yuzhu teased.

Yang Yong shook his head like a rattle-drum: "I wouldn't dare do anything that would get me into trouble."

"This is a donation entrusted to me by the Liushi Trading Company for you all." He Yuzhu pulled out a donation certificate as if by magic, the bright red seal on it shining clearly.

Yang Yong took it and read it carefully three times; only then did a smile appear on his face: "With this, I dare to accept it! Thanks, Zhuzi!"

"Take good care of my uncle; there will be more donations like this in the future." He Yuzhu patted him on the shoulder.

Upon hearing this, Yang Yong's eyes widened: "Little He, what kind of person do you take me for? I said I'd take care of him, so I definitely will; it's not because I'm after your things!"

"Understood, understood." He Yuzhu rubbed his stomach. "I'm hungry; can you get me something to eat?"

"Xiao Li!" Yang Yong turned his head and shouted, "Hurry and have the kitchen prepare a meal!"

Just as his subordinate was about to leave, Yang Yong pointed at the flour on the ground, "Carry a bag over, and take a few cans too; tell the Cooking Squad to use their best skills and put together a real feast!"

Half an hour later, Yang Yong also invited He Yuzhu's uncle, Shen Wenqing, over.

The seven of them sat around the table, eating steaming white-flour buns and stewed dishes with canned meat, all feeling very satisfied.

Before leaving, He Yuzhu followed Shen Wenqing to his living quarters and asked in a low voice, "Uncle, can you buy things here with money?"

Shen Wenqing nodded: "Yes, we even get one day off a week."

He Yuzhu didn't say another word; he pulled out five hundred yuan and five hundred catties of Grain Coupons and shoved them over: "Uncle, this situation of yours will be over in a year or two at most; don't neglect your health. Eat what you should, drink what you should—take it!"

Shen Wenqing still wanted to decline, but He Yuzhu leaned in closer: "Uncle, you know what kind of relationship I have with Liu Rusi, right? All my money is given to me by her."

Shen Wenqing was stunned for a moment, then finally tucked the money into his pocket.

When He Yuzhu left, Yang Yong walked him all the way to the main gate.

He Yuzhu gave one more instruction: "Remember, feed my uncle well; don't let him go without."

Yang Yong rolled his eyes at his nagging: "It's been six or seven years, how did you become such a fussbudget? You've already given us so much grain, do you really think I'd let our uncle go hungry?"

"That's good then!" He Yuzhu patted his shoulder hard, with enough force to make Yang Yong wince.

Yang Yong walked around the trucks with curiosity, then suddenly, as if he had discovered a new continent.

"Zhuzi, why are there fans installed on the back of these trucks?"

"These are called Refrigerated Trucks, specifically for meat."

Yang Yong widened his eyes: "You kid really know how to deal with these foreign gadgets. Tell me the truth, why did you bring so many trucks all the way to the seaside?"

He Yuzhu sighed: "I'm the Factory Director of the Rolling Mill, you forgot. The factory is building a large blast furnace, and the workers are swinging sledgehammers and carrying steel bars every day; how can they hold up without meat or oil? I've bought up all the pigs I could find nearby, and with no other options, I came to the seaside to try my luck."

Yang Yong shook his head after hearing this: "This coastal area was fished dry long ago. If you want a harvest, you have to head to the deep sea, but it's very dangerous out there; M Country's patrol boats are often there." He paused, "However, I'll point you to a practical path: go to the peninsula side; they just finished fighting a war there and haven't had time to fish, so you might be able to catch a big haul."

He Yuzhu's eyes lit up: "Done, I'll listen to you! Once I catch some fish and return, I'll send a batch to you all too."

"Then I'll thank you in advance!" Yang Yong waved goodbye with a smile.

He Yuzhu drove to the seaside and found a farmhouse in a small fishing village to stay in.

He instructed Ershuan: "You guys go around and ask if you can rent two Fishing Boats. I'm going out to look as well."

Though he said he was looking for Fishing Boats, He Yuzhu actually found a secluded corner and released the boat he had modified and a patrol boat directly from his space.

The foreign lettering on the hull was too conspicuous, so he spent the night painting it over thoroughly with black paint.

By evening, He Yuzhu left Shunzi at the farmhouse to watch the trucks and took Ershuan and two others straight to the seaside to find the two boats.

Ershuan and the other two all knew how to drive, so learning to operate the boats wasn't difficult.

He Yuzhu taught them hand-in-hand for a few hours, then let the three of them practice in the near-shore waters while he took the patrol boat out, preparing to head to sea.

Ershuan looked at the pitch-black sea surface, feeling a bit worried: "Zhuzi, why don't we wait until tomorrow morning? It's the middle of the night; don't lose your way."

He Yuzhu waved his hand: "There are no patrols at night. Otherwise, if we get caught by our own people, wouldn't that be embarrassing?"

Before he finished speaking, he pushed the throttle, and the bow of the boat cut through the waves, disappearing into the night.

After driving for seven or eight hours straight, He Yuzhu pulled out a nautical chart and checked—he was almost near the peninsula.

It was already two in the morning; a crescent moon hung in the sky, and the sea was as calm as a mirror.

Time to get to work.

He Yuzhu steered the boat to an area with dense schools of fish; though he was supposedly fishing, he didn't use a net at all—with just a thought, the fish within a ten-meter radius were all collected into his space.

This feeling was great!

Whenever he spotted a school of fish, he would steer the boat over, sweep his mind across it, and the job was done.

You have to say, there really were a lot of fish near this peninsula: yellow croakers, Small Yellow Fish, mackerel, cod, and saury, moving in schools like they were heading to a market.

This was a huge windfall for He Yuzhu. He was like a mouse that had burrowed into a rice jar, making a fortune in silence, frantically collecting fish into his space.

The space originally had a seawater pond five hundred meters square, and it was filled in no time.

He Yuzhu hurriedly summoned the system: "Can you build a seawater farming pond a few kilometers wide?"

The system replied coldly: It requires five hundred kilograms of gold.

He Yuzhu gritted his teeth: "Build it! Speed up the construction for me!"

Before long, a square pond three kilometers long and three kilometers wide was completed. It was just all mud and rock, without a single drop of water.

For the rest of the time, He Yuzhu collected fish and seawater simultaneously until he felt like he was about to get seasick, and only then did he stop.

A rough estimate was that he had collected at least several hundred tons of fish on this trip, and the seawater in that pond had also accumulated to over a meter deep.

He shoved a few bites of food into his mouth, lay down in the cockpit, and fell into a deep sleep.

He didn't know how long he had slept, but in his grogginess, he vaguely heard the sound of a motor.

He Yuzhu gave a start and sat up abruptly.

At this moment, the sky was just beginning to turn white, and in the distance, a boat flying a Taeguk flag was heading toward him.

Several people in uniforms on the boat shouted at him in a flurry of gibberish, but He Yuzhu could not understand a single word. After shouting a few times, they actually opened fire directly!

Bullets whizzed past the ship's rail, and one nearly struck his calf.

He Yuzhu's temper flared up instantly.

With a thought, a sniper rifle appeared in his hands in an instant.
