Chapter 613: Mistaken for a Fool
The big white guy leaned over and lowered his voice to ask, "John, this guy can modify ships. Should we take him back to the base to fix ships? Old Kevin complains every day that there aren't enough mechanics, and you have to wait in line for half a month just to fix a minor issue."
John walked up to He Yuzhu, stared down at him, and asked, "Can you speak English?"
He Yuzhu looked blank, nodded first, then hurriedly shook his head and bobbed it, looking just like a complete fool.
John slowed his speech and asked word by word, "Where did this ship come from?"
He Yuzhu pointed at his own head and stammered out words: "I... I served as a soldier under General Bai Shanye. A shell landed nearby, Boom— and my brain broke. I can't remember many things. I retired and went home, but my family was gone..." He scrambled to pull a document out of his pocket, which he had actually retrieved from his space, "This... this is mine."
The document was crumpled; it was something they had scavenged from the corpse of a South Korean Army soldier back in the day on the battlefield.
The big white guy took it and glanced at it; it was just a scrap of paper with a serial number written on it, not even a photo. He curled his lip and handed it to John.
John flipped it over and looked at it a few times: "The item is real, from the early batch issued. But whether this name is his, that's another story."
He paused and stared into He Yuzhu's eyes: "I'll ask you one more time, where did this ship come from?"
He Yuzhu scratched his head and said foolishly, "I... I went out to sea once and saw a ship drifting on the water, full of blood inside." After he finished speaking, he covered his face, pretending to be very terrified, "I used to do repairs, so I tinkered with it, and the ship started. I usually just catch some fish in the coastal waters to sell..."
John pondered for a while and waved his hand: "Cuff him and take him back to the base to fix ships."
The big white guy took out handcuffs and with a "Click!", put them on He Yuzhu.
He Yuzhu didn't resist at all and honestly held out his hands.
When the big guy put the key into his pocket, He Yuzhu moved his mind and directly collected the key into his space.
Several people took He Yuzhu onto a patrol boat and headed toward the naval port.
He Yuzhu's broken ship was dragged by a rope, swaying and following behind the group.
More than an hour later, the fleet entered the naval port.
The big white guy asked, "John, where should we put this fool?"
John thought for a moment: "Isn't there a break room over by the dock? Send two people to guard it. We can't trust him completely yet; we need to check his background."
The big white guy laughed: "It's been six or seven years, where are we going to check?"
John frowned: "Ship repair is no small matter. If a spy sneaks in and causes some destruction..."
He Yuzhu chimed in foolishly from the side: "I'm willing to fix ships, just give me something to eat."
John ignored him and waved his hand at the big white guy.
The big guy escorted He Yuzhu to a row of bungalows and pushed open the door. Inside were several bunk beds, the place where ship repair workers rested.
He Yuzhu looked ingratiating: "Officer, can I have something to eat?"
The big white guy replied casually: "Wait, I haven't eaten yet."
He arranged for two soldiers to guard outside the door and walked away, swaying.
He Yuzhu flopped onto the bed, closed his eyes, and went to sleep.
More than an hour later, he was pushed awake.
Dazed, he opened his eyes to see the big white guy holding a tray: a piece of fried pork chop, a few slices of bread, and a can of cola.
He Yuzhu grinned foolishly: "Hehe, haven't had this in a long time, it's sweet."
The big white guy rolled his eyes: "Fool, you're lucky; John likes people with skills."
He Yuzhu didn't have time to talk; he grabbed the pork chop and stuffed it into his mouth, ate the bread slices one by one, and opened the cola to gulp it down, almost choking.
The big white guy kicked him: "Look at that uncultured look of yours!" He cursed and turned to leave.
He Yuzhu, his mouth full of food, asked vaguely: "Officer, when do I start working?"
"Tomorrow." The big white guy didn't look back, "Damn it, there are actually idiots who fight to work."
The door closed.
The foolish grin on He Yuzhu's face retracted bit by bit, and his eyes became cold and sharp.
He took the key out of his space and with a "Click", opened the handcuffs.
It was already pitch black outside.
He crept to the door silently, listened, and sensed two guards outside smoking and chatting about which girl in the red-light district was good.
He Yuzhu moved his mind, and the two vanished instantly.
He flashed into his space, took off a military uniform from one of them, put it on himself, stuck on a mustache, and used foundation to smear his face, neck, and arms completely pale.
Once tidied up, he slipped out of the room and crept toward the port.
The pier was brightly lit, and three cargo ships were unloading.
He Yuzhu leaned in to look, and his pupils shrank—
M48 Patton Tank!
Good heavens, three whole ships!
His eyes lit up: if he got this stuff back, Liu Xiaohua and that group would definitely go crazy with joy.
He crouched in the shadows and observed for a while, finding that everyone was focused on unloading the tanks, while a supply ship nearby was dark and ignored.
He circled around, knocked out two guards with one punch each, collected them into his space, and silently boarded the supply ship.
Pushing open the door, He Yuzhu almost gasped.
He had struck gold!
Large quantities of grain, plus crates upon crates of Carbine, Jeep, diesel, tank parts, tracks, tires...
Without a word, he moved his mind and collected everything.
Just as he was collecting enthusiastically, footsteps came from outside.
He "whooshed" to a corner and held his breath.
A First Team of patrol soldiers walked over, a dozen people, holding guns, their footsteps uniform.
When they got close, less than ten meters away, He Yuzhu moved his mind again, and the entire team vanished into thin air.
He circled the supply ship again, confirmed that all loose supplies had been cleared out, and then placed two hundred pounds of High Explosive in the bottom of the supply ship, setting it to a timer to detonate in one hour.
He Yuzhu walked out of the Supply Ship and discovered that the three cargo ships at the pier had already finished unloading.
More than ninety M48 Tanks were parked neatly to one side, with some rocket launchers and trucks nearby.
He Yuzhu hid behind a pile of cargo, staring at those tanks, his heart blooming with joy: take them all, give a few to Liu Xiaohua for him to study, and refine the rest into steel himself to make water pumps. However, if their factory wanted to keep them all, that would be fine too, but they would have to trade steel for them.
The more he thought, the happier he became.
Just as he was about to make a move, "Woo—"
An alarm suddenly blared.
The pier fell into chaos instantly, with shouting, whistling, and the sound of running everywhere.
Most likely, the incident on the Supply Ship had been discovered.
Taking advantage of the chaos, He Yuzhu threw a bundle of Explosive next to the pile of cargo beside him, lit the fuse, and quickly retreated.
"Boom!"
With a deafening blast, flames shot into the sky, and the pile of cargo was blown to pieces, with debris raining down like scattered flowers.
Because the cargo was close to the tanks, many metal sheets and wooden blocks slammed into the armor, clanging against the vehicle bodies.
The crowd scattered and fled.
He Yuzhu moved against the flow of people, heading straight for the batch of tanks.
He collected them one after another, his speed astonishingly fast.
By the time someone reacted, more than half of the ninety-plus tanks were already gone.
"There's a spy! Catch him!"
A large group of soldiers swarmed over.
He Yuzhu turned around and ran toward the outside of the pier.
Wearing a military uniform, he was completely unnoticed while mixed in the crowd; as he ran, he threw bombs outward, and the port was filled with explosions and soaring flames.
Running to the place where the boats were docked, the three patrol boats and his own dilapidated boat were still fine.
With a thought, He Yuzhu collected the three patrol boats into his space.
Just as he was about to jump onto his boat, he saw 3 M Country LCVP Landing Craft parked next to the patrol boats and swept his hand to collect them all.
Only then did he jump onto his own boat, start the engine, and dash straight out of the port.
"Boom—!"
That Supply Ship was blown up, the flames dyeing half the sky red.
"Boom!" Another deafening blast rang out.
What He Yuzhu did not know was that a large sealed compartment in this Supply Ship was filled entirely with diesel.
After he detonated the Explosive, the entire compartment of diesel triggered a sympathetic explosion.
The flames illuminated half the sky, and no one noticed a small, dilapidated boat quietly slipping away.
Once out of the naval port, He Yuzhu slammed the throttle to the bottom.
The bow of the boat rose high, cleaving through the waves, heading straight for the high seas.
