Chapter 637: The Deaf God of War

~8 min read 1,536 words

The minor leader was not annoyed; he chuckled, waved his hand, and cleared the way.

Baoyarong pulled He Yuzhu along, blending in among the group of minor leaders, and walked toward the large bamboo shed inside.

By the time the two of them ducked into the shed and sat down, the sky was already bright.

The bamboo shed was filled with swirling smoke, with hundreds of people gathered in small groups talking; those from the same branch sat in one area, making it as noisy as a wet market.

Baoyarong brought He Yuzhu to his branch's area, and a server immediately brought over a cup of herbal tea.

Baoyarong downed the cup of herbal tea in one gulp, leaned in toward He Yuzhu, and pointed them out one by one: "The one sitting first is Chen Qinghua; he manages all the gang's businesses. Next to him is his own younger brother, Chen Qingxiong, who is responsible for smuggling. The third one is called Liang Guanyou; the street markets in Yau Ma Tei and Mong Kok are all his territory. The fourth is Wu Shirong, responsible for collecting protection money and skimming from various factories and companies. The fifth is Zheng Tianyong; the men under him are very fierce and specialize in seizing territory. I hear that eight or ten people can't even get close to him... The one on the very edge is He Bingkun, who handles the accounts."

He Yuzhu did not make a sound, his eyes staring straight at these people; to outsiders, he looked just like a simpleton.

Just as they were talking, a bearded man swayed over to the two of them, his eyes rolling over He Yuzhu a few times: "Baoyarong, how is it that this person you brought this time looks so unfamiliar?"

Baoyarong grinned, revealing a mouthful of rotten teeth: "Hua Ge, this is my cousin, He Kun. His hearing isn't good, and he's been with me for a long time, but I just don't bring him out often."

The bearded man called Hua Ge squinted his eyes and sized He Yuzhu up again: "Then why did you think to bring him today?"

Baoyarong sighed and lowered his voice: "I hacked two Brotherhood men to death the day before yesterday. That bastard Jin Hai is hunting me down everywhere, and my underlings are all protecting my family and those businesses. There's no danger in coming to a meeting, so I brought my cousin along—he's the best at fighting, but his brain isn't good enough, so he's not useful for guarding the house."

Hua Ge curled his lip: "I think you're lying. What use is a deaf man following you?"

Baoyarong nudged his chin toward He Yuzhu: "Hua Ge, don't underestimate him. Look at the muscles on him; an average person can't beat him."

Hua Ge laughed: "Then let me try an arm-wrestle."

Baoyarong shook his head: "Forget it! If I break you, I'd be so embarrassed!"

"No, we have to do it!" Hua Ge suddenly got excited.

Baoyarong had no choice; he spent a long time explaining to He Yuzhu with words and gestures before He Yuzhu seemed to understand.

"I'm not afraid of you!" He Yuzhu giggled foolishly, with a bit of drool hanging from the corner of his mouth.

There were plenty of troublemakers; a big guy flipped a table over directly and shouted: "Hurry up and try, how about we place a bet?"

As soon as the big guy finished speaking, a group of people swarmed over to place bets, and everyone scrambled to take out money and put it on the ground.

Most people were betting on Hua Ge to win.

He Yuzhu giggled foolishly, his eyes still somewhat vacant; he looked just like a fool.

Hua Ge took off his clothes, revealing a body of solid, sinewy muscle; his arms were thicker than an average person's legs.

He was the first to put his hand on the table, the veins on his wrist bulging.

He Yuzhu was still giggling foolishly.

Baoyarong secretly admired him in his heart: This kid is acting so damn realistically. He shouted at the top of his lungs: "He Kun, if you beat him, we'll make money!"

After saying that, he "slapped" a thousand Hong Kong Dollars onto the ground on He Yuzhu's side.

He Yuzhu made his move.

He gripped Hua Ge's wrist with a slow, sluggish motion, looking as if he wasn't even using any strength.

Hua Ge felt the other's wrist was soft and limp, and he felt happy, wanting to launch a surprise attack.

He channeled his Qi and suddenly tried to force He Yuzhu's wrist down.

Just at this moment, He Yuzhu applied force.

His strength was three to five times that of a normal person; this exertion directly reversed the situation, his palm clamping onto Hua Ge's hand like iron pincers.

Hua Ge's expression changed; he wanted to pull back but couldn't, and he wanted to push down but couldn't.

The next second, He Yuzhu pressed down hard—"Bang!" Hua Ge's hand was slammed onto the table, and the tabletop shook three times.

"Fuck!" The surrounding crowd exploded, "Too powerful!"

Those who won money cheered, while those who lost money cursed with mournful faces.

Hua Ge couldn't save face; he shook his hand, his expression suddenly darkening, and said: "Baoyarong, someone reported to me that although you appear to be fighting Jin Hai the hardest, someone actually saw you eating with him."

Upon hearing this, Baoyarong's expression changed instantly: "Hua Ge, you can't just say things like that! Jin Hai and I are bitter enemies. On what grounds are you pinning this on me?"

Hua Ge gave a cold laugh: "Anyway, I find you suspicious today. And this cousin of yours—you say he's deaf, how can you prove it?"

Baoyarong stiffened his neck: "Why don't you find a doctor to test him? You suspect him, so why should I have to prove it? Everyone come and judge this; Hua Ge has been eyeing my territory for a while now, and today he's deliberately targeting me. I'm going to report this to the boss..."

Seeing he couldn't out-talk Baoyarong, Hua Ge pointed at He Yuzhu: "Since your cousin can fight, I'll pick six men from my subordinates to spar with your deaf cousin. If he wins, I'll believe you; if he doesn't, I'll deal with you along with him."

Baoyarong exploded instantly: "Hua Ge! You're just the security personnel in charge of this meeting; don't use that status to bully me. I'm not afraid of you!"

Hua Ge gave a mocking grin, his eyes full of ridicule: "Are you still afraid?"

Baoyarong knew clearly in his heart—Hua Ge hadn't grasped any evidence; he just wanted to occupy his territory. If it weren't for the fact that he, a minor leader who started as a fishmonger, had been slick and versatile all these years and given enough tribute to several 14K branch leaders, the territory he managed would have been swallowed up long ago.

He Yuzhu was playing the fool on the side, patted Baoyarong on the shoulder, and gestured to ask: "Cousin, what's the matter?"

Baoyarong secretly laughed: This kid really knows how to act.

He used words and gestures: "Someone wants to fight you!"

He Yuzhu understood and began to giggle foolishly.

While everyone was making a scene just now, He Yuzhu hadn't been idle.

He used his spatial ability to fill a wooden box that held tea sets with High Explosive—a full three hundred kilograms of TNT.

He set the timer on the Explosive to twenty minutes.

"We aren't fighting here," He Yuzhu gestured, pointing his finger outward, "let's go to the seaside to fight."

Hua Ge laughed as soon as he heard this and turned to the people around him: "Look, this fool isn't foolish at all; he must be a good swimmer, planning to run into the sea if he can't win?"

Several of Hua Ge's subordinates burst into laughter.

Baoyarong mocked: "Hua Ge, you're almost forty years old and you don't understand anything. If you dare to incite infighting within the gang, you won't live past tonight."

Hua Ge said dismissively: "If you have power and don't use it, it expires. You guys follow this fool to the seaside and accompany him for some practice. Don't beat him to death; just leave him with a breath."

The six subordinates agreed with laughter and pushed He Yuzhu toward the outside.

Baoyarong followed behind, turned back, and glared fiercely at Hua Ge: "Just you wait, I won't let you off, damn it!"

Hua Ge spat in disdain: "Baoyarong, do you really think you're something? Today, I'm going to take your territory."

Ten people were shouting and hollering as they walked toward the seaside, while the people nearby all made sarcastic remarks.

Those six henchmen were restless the whole way, reaching out from time to time to try and shove or kick He Yuzhu.

Yet, though He Yuzhu looked clumsy, he was always able to dodge them by a hair's breadth, just like a loach.

A Heilian man cursed, "Baoyarong, you motherfucker must be a spy! This cousin of yours couldn't possibly be deaf!"
