Chapter 647: The Gods Return to Their Positions, the Storm is Coming
Xu Damao followed Liu Erhei into the Locksmith Workshop, and as soon as he looked up, he saw Jia Dongxu squatting in a corner tinkering with something.
He leaned over and asked with a plastered-on smile, "Brother Jia, I heard the speakers in your workshop are broken? Which ones are they?"
Jia Dongxu raised a finger and pointed toward the Northeast corner: "Those two over there, neither of them makes a sound." He looked Xu Damao up and down and asked, "Xu Damao, to be able to get into the factory right after getting out—that's not simple! Must have spent quite a bit of money, right?"
Xu Damao waved his hand, his chin lifted slightly: "I won't lie to you, I went to see Section Chief Li, and he insisted I come back to the factory to work. He even said that for now, he can't arrange for me to show movies; I have to wait for the right moment."
Jia Dongxu couldn't help but laugh: "You kid, you feel uncomfortable if you don't brag for a day, don't you?"
Xu Damao shrugged: "A wolf travels a thousand miles for meat, a dog travels a thousand miles for dung. This man will rise sooner or later!"
Hearing Xu Damao spouting nonsense over there, Liu Erhei shouted, "Xu Damao, hurry up and bring the ladder over!"
"Coming, coming!" Xu Damao trotted over.
Liu Erhei climbed up the ladder, checked for a long time, then climbed down and clapped the dust off his hands: "Both speakers here are broken. Go back to the Broadcasting Group and get two."
Xu Damao was very reluctant in his heart, but there was nothing he could do, so he had to trot out of the workshop.
When he arrived at the Broadcasting Group, Yu Haitang was not in the office; only a middle-aged woman was sitting there reading a newspaper.
Xu Damao leaned in, his mouth as sweet as if it had been smeared with honey: "Sister, may I trouble you to ask, I need to pick up two speakers."
The middle-aged woman didn't even lift her eyelids: "The ones in the group are all used up, go to the Logistics Department to pick them up."
Xu Damao was a bit unhappy, but he suppressed his temper and asked, "Which warehouse in the Logistics Department should I go to?"
"Warehouse Number Twelve."
Xu Damao thanked her and turned to run.
As he ran, he cursed: "A tiger falls to the plains and gets bullied by dogs. Liu Erhei, you bastard, you're deliberately jerking me around, aren't you? You knew the Broadcasting Group didn't have any, yet you insisted on making me run this errand. Once I make it big, I'll make you scrub toilets!"
He ran panting to Warehouse Number Twelve and knocked on the warehouse keeper's door with a thud-thud-thud.
When the door opened, a woman in her thirties stood inside, with a full figure and distinct, full facial features.
Xu Damao's eyes lit up instantly—isn't this Qin Huairu?
He immediately perked up, almost forgetting what he had come for: "Sister Qin? So you're the keeper of this warehouse?"
Qin Huairu swept a glance at him, her face expressionless: "What exactly do you want to pick up? Speak quickly."
Xu Damao scratched his head, his eyes darting all over her: "Sister Qin, you're getting prettier and prettier. That... are you remarried yet?"
Qin Huairu frowned and scolded: "Don't talk just to hear yourself talk! If you want something, say it quickly; I don't have time to chat with you, I still have to organize the warehouse!"
Only then did Xu Damao remember the real business: "Oh right, Liu Erhei asked me to pick up two five-inch Feile speakers. Do you have any here?"
Qin Huairu pulled a form out of a drawer and slapped it on the table: "Fill it out yourself, sign it when you're done."
As he filled it out, Xu Damao asked cheekily: "Sister Qin, when are you free? Can I treat you to a meal?"
"I work during the day and take care of the kids at night; I don't have time to eat with you." Qin Huairu glanced at the form, turned and went into the warehouse, and soon brought out two five-inch Feile speakers and placed them on the counter.
Xu Damao held the speakers but refused to leave: "Sister Qin, do you have some misunderstanding about me? I'm single now, and you're single too. How about us..."
"Get lost!" Qin Huairu's face darkened.
Xu Damao sheepishly hugged the speakers and left the warehouse. After walking a few steps, he turned back and spat on the ground: "Isn't she just a widow? What's so great about her?"
Then he chuckled and muttered to himself: "Just you wait, see how I deal with you."
Xu Damao hugged the two speakers and returned to the Locksmith Workshop, panting.
As soon as Liu Erhei saw him, his eyes nearly popped out: "Xu Damao! It took you almost an hour to get two speakers? Did you go make them from scratch?"
Xu Damao put the speakers on the ground and said irritably: "Brother Erhei, the Broadcasting Group didn't have any at all; I had to pick them up from the warehouse! Aren't you just jerking me around? It's several miles back and forth."
Liu Erhei was stunned for a moment, then slapped his forehead: "Oh, I really forgot about that."
Xu Damao squinted and smiled: "Brother Erhei, tell me the truth, did you do it on purpose?"
Liu Erhei shook his head: "Would I tease you? We can't even finish these two jobs all morning; we'll have to delay our meal."
It turned out Liu Erhei was right. By the time the two speakers were installed, it was almost eleven o'clock.
Liu Erhei packed up his things and trotted toward the Tractor Factory.
"Brother Erhei, what's the rush?" Xu Damao followed behind, carrying the long ladder, his legs trembling from exhaustion.
Thinking that he still had to walk another kilometer or two, he couldn't stop cursing He Yuzhu in his heart: Damn it, if it weren't for you, I'd still be showing movies right now.
By the time Xu Damao arrived at the Tractor Factory, Liu Erhei had already climbed up the utility pole and was checking the lines above.
Only then did Xu Damao realize that Liu Erhei wasn't playing him; he was a person who worked earnestly.
After checking the large speaker and finding it wasn't broken, Liu Erhei quickly climbed down from the pole, took the ladder from Xu Damao's hands, and began checking the lines section by section.
In the Factory Director's office, the telephone rang.
He Yuzhu picked up the phone: "Hello?"
Li Xiangxiu's voice came from the other end, very low: "Zhuzi, you need to prepare yourself mentally; that kid Zhou Hao has been transferred back."
Upon hearing this, He Yuzhu was stunned for a moment, and it took him a long time to curse: "Is this kid still haunting me like a ghost? What position is he in this time?"
"Deputy Director of the Municipal Committee's Industrial and Communications Political Office. You need to be careful; he can indirectly oversee you all," said Li Xiangxiu.
He Yuzhu was silent for a moment, then smiled: "Let the storm rage even more violently!"
"You're crazy, quoting Soviet revisionist stuff," Li Xiangxiu reminded him.
"The wind has risen, and all sorts of people will emerge. I was prepared for this long ago. By the way, compared to Zhou Hao, I'm more concerned about Dan. Tell me the truth, is she really not divorced?"
Li Xiangxiu got anxious as soon as she heard this: "What is wrong with you? The house is on fire, and you're still bringing up Dan's business."
He Yuzhu laughed: "I can't stop the big things, can't I find some amusement? Actually, every time I see her, I feel like her happiness is faked."
Li Xiangxiu was silent for a while on the other end, then said: "You, you're definitely a half-immortal. You can guess everything. They've been married for half a year and have been living apart, they just never went through the divorce procedures."
After hearing this, He Yuzhu couldn't help but laugh: "Dan is really a good actress. I've met her so many times, and whenever I asked about it, she always told me they were doing just fine."
Li Xiangxiu hurriedly warned: "You must never say that I told you this, otherwise my official position won't be safe."
He Yuzhu stopped laughing, his tone turning serious: "I'm fine, you and Dan should be the ones to be careful!"
