Chapter 5: with translation of chapter title

Li Qiang helplessly could only follow Li Bin back to the siheyuan.

The rear west wing, three rooms, gardener, and garden are not names.

Master is generic; Repair Team is provided; workers are generic.

Main structure, roof, and tiles are generic; Captain Hu is a name; Repair Team is also a name.

"Captain Hu, I want to renovate the house a bit, turn the two big rooms into a three-bedroom, one-living-room layout, and make another room into a kitchen and dining room, then add a room beside it for a bathroom and shower; calculate how much money it will cost and how long it will take," Li Qiang said.

"When you came, Factory Director Yang had already instructed that everything be done according to your requirements; the materials will be supplied by the factory, we earn wages, so no money is needed, though it may take a bit longer; fortunately this is the backyard, the sewer directly leads outside, so it's fine, the time is estimated at about ten days; if I were you, I'd just directly add two rooms, it won't cost much, later we'll partition them into guest rooms for you, so when relatives come they'll have a place to stay; you just need to provide us two meals," Captain Hu said with a smile. He knew Li Qiang was the newly appointed Section Chief of the Security Section; getting on good terms with him was enough, anyway it wouldn't cost him money, just a bit of hard work.

"Alright, then I'll do as you said, Brother, I'll prepare the ingredients, and I'll leave the cooking to you," Li Qiang said.

"Evening is fine, it's just noon I'm worried I won't make it; how about this, I'll find someone to cook for them, their skill is not worse than mine," Li Bin said.

Li Qiang

"He Daqing's son, He Yuzhu, has been an apprentice since childhood, his skill is even higher than mine; after He Daqing passed, he didn't go study cooking, apparently to support his sister he's been doing odd jobs on the street; when the time comes, I'll provide him two meals and give him some wages," Li Bin said after thinking a moment.

Li Qiang and Li Bin

"Familiar, when He Daqing was still around he often gave me cooking tips, I'm familiar with his family; after He Daqing passed, I still often give those two siblings some food," Li Bin said with a smile.

"Alright, you go tell him that," Li Qiang knew Li Bin was indirectly repaying the kindness He Daqing had shown him in teaching his cooking.

"Just let him come over when we eat dinner," Li Bin said with a smile.

"Today we'll clear the weeds in the courtyard, then go to the factory to pull the materials over, and we can start work tomorrow," Captain Hu said, hurriedly interjecting after seeing the two brothers finish speaking.

"Alright, then tonight the brothers will stay for dinner, I'll treat the brothers to a good drink," Li Qiang was not a stingy person; since Captain Hu had taken such good care of him, he couldn't fall short.

"I don't need one; I don't do anything else, just walking to and from work is fine, it's not far, so don't waste money," Li Bin said.

"Brother, it's fine, I have money," Li Qiang said with a smile; the system had rewarded him two thousand, and together with the subsidies over the years and the resettlement allowance for changing jobs, it added up to over three thousand, so buying two bicycles was really trivial.

"Even if you have money, you shouldn't waste it; save it for marrying a wife later," at this moment Li Bin really resembled an old father.

"It's fine, listen to me, issue the invoice," Li Qiang ignored Li Bin, directly pulled out a stack of money from his pocket, counted out three hundred and twenty, and gave it to the clerk; actually Li Qiang had taken the money from his space, the pocket was just a blind.

"Who are you looking down on?" Li Bin said, then with long legs he straddled and rode off; Li Qiang didn't expect Li Bin to be able to ride a bicycle.

The two brothers, police station, and license plate are generic terms.

"Yo, Da Binzi, you bought bicycles, and even two at once!" Yan Butgui saw the two brothers pushing in two new bikes, his gaze was hotter than that of a thirsty old man who'd gone years seeing a beautiful woman.

Qiangzi

"Good, Qiangzi has made it; this is unique to our courtyard, it's also a great joy, you two brothers should set up two tables to celebrate," Yan Butgui said with a smile, his hand constantly stroking the bicycle.
