Chapter 74: Author's Note on the Book's Release

~11 min read 2,139 words

Hello readers, I am the author of this book, Incense-Burning Without Self.

Yes, that's right, the dog author who updates like trash every day and occasionally sneaks off to take leave (truly shameless).

Here, the dog author first bows to you, my dear readers.

This book will be officially released tomorrow, so I've come to play the victim and beg for subscriptions.

Next is the segment you are all familiar with—the "playing the victim" part—let's give it a round of applause!

Dog Author:

*Ahem! * (Clears throat)

My sob story is quite long, so please bear with me.

Music, start! (Oh, little cabbage, yellow in the field...)

I have written many books and suffered many hardships to finally bring this book before you.

Two years in the industry, lonely and helpless, the journey has been full of bumps, like a great dream, as if it were only yesterday.

I wrote my first book back in college, went astray, ended up in the Qidian female-oriented channel, wrote over 300,000 words, and looked to find only 33 followers.

Afterward, I tossed and turned, flopping on over a dozen books, not a single one earning any money (teary-eyed).

I've written fantasy, heavens-crossing, behind-the-scenes, and many, many other genres, but none of them achieved any results.

I am a total veteran flop.

People nicknamed me "Eunuch Xiang," always either flopping and running away, or on the road to flopping.

Every time I enter an author group, people tease me by saying:

"Oh, Eunuch Xiang is here. How dare you come to spam the group today?"

"Oh, I know, it must be that your new book was rejected by the editor again. What a total flop, a useless dog who can't even pass the signing process."

"Don't tell me that after Jinghong resigned, no one wants you anymore."

"Ah, yes, yes, yes. Last time Huiye and Shengxia signed one of your books, and you ranked dead last in the trial period. You embarrassed yourself all the way to your grandmother's house."

"Eunuch Xiang, today, why don't you tell us again how many ways there are to write the word 'flop'?"

I can only grit my teeth and offer a pathetic defense.

How can poor performance be considered a flop?

An author, how can the affairs of an author be described with a word like "flop"?

That is creation! Creation, do you understand!

Ideals, ideals are the two words that must not be tarnished!

All that nonsense about "a boutique in one year, ten thousand subscriptions in two years, and within three years, my name shall be on the Great God contract."

The crowd just laughed upon hearing it.

Suddenly, the group was filled with a cheerful atmosphere again.

I vaguely remember that day when I went into the group and happily said I had reached the Sanjiang list.

A cold voice came from the crowd: "Eunuch Xiang can reach Sanjiang too?"

Nonsense, I clearly saw him using someone else's author account to brag there.

Just yesterday, he was hung from a tree and had his legs broken by someone.

Sigh, looking back at the bumpy road, my heart is full of scars.

I wrote this book with great difficulty because I am writing it part-time.

My working hours are quite long, basically in a 996 state.

Sometimes when I get home, I still have to deal with other things, so it is very hard to find the time to maintain updates.

You all know that I often suddenly post a chapter at three or four in the morning.

There's no other way; time is tight, so I can only stay up late to write. Sometimes, if I get a little stuck, it leads to writing for a very long time.

It really is life-burning updates...

But even so, the updates for this book are still quite few.

I hope all readers can forgive me; the author has tried his best!

Teary-eyed complaint: Because of the trashy updates, the follow-read count has dropped so much, it hurts my heart. I beg you readers, please stop "stockpiling" the book; if you keep stockpiling, the kid will starve to death.

Next, back to the main topic, let's talk about this book.

The book *Simulated Immortal Cultivation: Starting with Full Comprehension* was started in a hurry, and many settings are not very perfect.

For example, Root Bone; this attribute is a bit vague, and it should actually be split into two attributes.

One represents potential, and one represents Constitution.

But when I started the book, the settings were rushed, so they weren't separated, and it has been criticized by many readers.

And then there's Comprehension; many readers complain that it isn't strong enough, that it didn't start off by crushing the heavens and the earth, or compare it to Chen Laomo from *Fantasy World Great Crossing*, who achieves "one proof, eternal proof," and then uses wild imagination to pull off flashy tricks. This point has always been criticized.

For this, I sincerely apologize.

It's not that I can't write wild ideas; I come from a background of wild ideas. If you really want to see it, I'll go to the sci-fi section and write one for you in my next book.

Furthermore, my initial idea was to tell an interesting Xianxia world.

And I feel that, logically, if such a great treasure were stuffed into his world, the Heavenly Dao would 99% likely sanction him, so that's how I've been writing it.

Originally, I wanted to explain these settings slowly later on.

But since I was scolded by readers too much, I just explained it directly during the adventure quest.

Speaking of adventure quests, here comes another complaint.

Complaint 2: That plot about the "Chess Game Through the Ages," although it explained the plot clearly, it drew dissatisfaction from another group of people: "You started so grandly, what the hell are you writing later on..."

To be reasonable, the author's mentality died on the spot.

It feels a bit like I offended readers on both sides.

At the time, for that encounter quest, I originally wanted to write a small plot similar to "Lanke," writing a bit of that otherworldly feeling of "Immortal Touches My Crown, Knotted Hair Bestows Longevity," but in order to explain the issue of comprehension, I directly replaced it with the n+1 level top-tier dungeon of "Playing Chess Against Hongjun."

As a result, the comprehension was explained clearly.

But it also drew dissatisfaction from another wave of people.

"You start off writing so grandly, you'll 100% collapse later."

"Trash reader, trash writing style, trash train of thought."

Emmmm...

Uncomfortable.

Regret; if I had known, I would have gone to write Mortal Cultivation.

I feel that the template of Song Ming, writing Mortal Cultivation, would be beautiful.

The core selling point of this book is still those immortal hero and strange tales; writing Mortal Cultivation would be so comfortable, regret +1.

I have also tried my best to write this book; regarding the plot design, I have many ideas.

The Dark Bird, Great Qin, Seven Kingdoms, Southern Wilderness, Tianji Shangren, the preparations of Zhang Yi, the identity of Xiao Zhenger—there are many things I have actually prepared.

I also explained the power system at the very beginning of the book: a total of eighteen levels, nine grades of Refining the Mortal, nine steps of Transcendent; I think it won't be that easy for the system to collapse.

Then, let's return to the protagonist at the end of the talk.

The protagonist's name is Li Xiang; in "Luck So Low It Destroys the World," he was my protagonist. That book's first-subscription performance was 34. I persisted for 800,000 words; I didn't finish telling his story, and I am very sad.

Later, I wrote him into "Starting from Weaving Myths" as a supporting character. That book's performance was also very poor, with about 300 first-subscriptions. I wrote over 700,000 words, and I couldn't persist anymore either.

I still have many regrets.

He is my unfulfilled wish.

I swear, I want to make many, many people remember this name!

So for this book, I still set the protagonist's name as Li Xiang.

Li Xiang, Li Xiang—by the transliteration, you can also know what I mean; it is "ideal."

From the first moment I put pen to paper, I wanted to tell you, bit by bit, about that magnificent and vast world in my mind.

Letting many, many people know my pen name, letting many, many people see my story off-stage—this is the ideal of a small, struggling author.

Wait, I remember I came here to play the pity card, not to explain the plot.

*Cough cough! *

Reader daddies!

Look at how many books I've written, over two million words, and I'm only level 2; I've been struggling all the way here, it's as miserable as it gets!

Please, grant me a bite to eat!!

I am very happy that this book could make it to the Sanjiang list and walk this far; I hope it can have good results, allowing me to earn a bit more money to improve my family's situation.

Hahaha, speaking of this, I recall a point of contention.

You all keep complaining: why did I put those three attribute points at the beginning into "family background"?

Wouldn't it be better to put them into comprehension or luck? Even if you put them into Root Bone, I would have gritted my teeth and accepted it.

Why did you have to put them into family background?

Because I am really poor.

I really wanted to improve my family background, and then, and then I habitually put them there.

Emmmm...

Please forgive me, please forgive me.

The above is the pity-playing segment; in short, in summary, it is actually just one sentence.

I, the author, am kneeling; you, please pay up, thank you!

Alright, the rambling is finished.

Let me think, it seems I forgot something.

Oh, right!

Sacrificing fellow authors!

The editor said that when launching, sacrificing a wave of fellow authors has a chance to increase performance by 20%.

Drawing upon the luck of the world to attain the Dao and become a god.

Let me go find out who is good to sacrifice.

Ah, I have it!

The first book, "Simulated Immortal Cultivation: Pushing Across the Heavens from Uncle Nine's World," writes about luck + Uncle Nine, the protagonist turns into a zombie; those interested can take a look.

The second book, "Immortal Cultivation Simulation: Started by Putting All Points into Luck," no explanation needed, those who know, know.

The third book, "Simulated Immortal Cultivation: My Luck Is Too Heaven-Defying," no explanation needed, those who know, know.

The fourth book, "Simulated Immortal Cultivation: My Family Is Too Heaven-Defying," seems to be one that writes about family background.

Sacrificing all living beings, I shall surely become a god!

By the way, it's not a studio; I don't know these authors.

It's just that my test-run performance was pretty good, and they saw my data was good, so they came to follow the trend of this theme to try it out; everyone, don't guess anymore.

When have you ever seen a studio's update schedule be as trash as mine...

I remember the standard for entering an outside studio is a minimum average of 2,000, I think.

Sorry, I'm not worthy; my best book only had an average of 800 (tears!!).

Alright, the sacrifice is finished.

Let's talk about the launch tomorrow.

Launching tomorrow at twelve o'clock, expecting to update twelve chapters.

Updating in batches, about one chapter per hour, updating all the way until midnight.

If I haven't finished writing by then, it means the author has been admitted to the ICU.

You all know that I basically have no saved drafts, and my update times are very much up to fate every day.

In order to launch on Friday, I took leave directly to come back and write.

I don't plan on sleeping tonight; I'm going to write in one go until twelve o'clock tomorrow.

One person, one keyboard, one night, defying the heavens to change my fate.

I am truly very poor, so I trouble you all to show some support.

I will spend a wave of my life, and you will spend a wave of gold.

Thank you.

By the way, this is the group number you wanted; I've posted it here so that readers on other channels can see it: 377—403—795

Finally, I will conclude with a sentence from my heart.

One year for a high-quality work, two years for ten thousand subscriptions, within three years, my name shall be on the Great God contract!

May all authors under heaven be able to attain the Dao and be canonized as gods.

All appearances are not the Self Image.

Respectfully,

(End of this chapter)
