Chapter 16: Sleeping Until Near-Saint (Please Follow! Please Collect!)

~7 min read 1,294 words

Half an hour later…

The beam of light vanished; Zheng Zha, having completed his enhancement, descended slowly from midair, opened his eyes, and felt the growing surge of energy within him—his now eerily handsome face broke into an excited grin.

“Is this the power of a vampire viscount? It’s truly… incredibly strong!!”

That’s right—a vampire viscount, not a baron.

Unlike the Zheng Zha from the original story, who obtained a B-rank side quest and over six thousand reward points,

because of Wu Xian’s interference, his gains in the Biohazard scenario were drastically reduced; though he had enough reward points to purchase both baron and viscount enhancements, he was still short one D-rank side quest.

Fortunately, the issue was minor—Wu Xian could supply that D-rank quest, and he also took the chance to explain to the members of the Central Plains Team how team members could assist each other in exchanging enhancements.

Watching this, Zhan Lan and the other two stared with hungry eyes, each of them looking at Wu Xian with anticipation, as if the words “Please take care of me” were written plainly on their faces.

Wu Xian, however, pretended not to notice.

Zhan Lan was fine—after all, she was a busty, bespectacled girl; her cuteness was tolerable. But what about the other two big guys? Were they trying to blind him?

He mentally grumbled, then turned his gaze back to Zheng Zha, who wore a gleeful, absurd expression of “I’m now invincible,” and couldn’t help but shake his head in exasperation.

This is what happens when you suddenly gain power—take a few good beatings, and you’ll calm down.

“Ahem!”

Wu Xian raised his hand and coughed softly, then smiled at Zheng Zha, who had just snapped back to awareness: “How’s it feel? Stronger? Do you think you’re invincible now?”

“Hehe! Not quite that far, but I’m sure I could take on ten of my old self without trouble!”

Zheng Zha grinned, then checked his six core attributes.

As expected, all values except intelligence and mental strength had increased two to threefold, far surpassing normal human limits—his smile widened further.

“Good, you haven’t lost your mind yet—but you still need to cool down… Come to my room later. I’ll train all of you in combat, especially you, Zheng Zha. I hope you’re still this confident by then.”

Wu Xian’s tone carried a faint, knowing smirk, instantly freezing Zheng Zha’s grin.

He had seen how Wu Xian obliterated two (actually three) Lickers.

Though he didn’t know whether he or a Licker was stronger now, he was one hundred percent certain he couldn’t stand against Wu Xian for even a second—training with him would almost certainly end in brutal humiliation.

“Alright, now it’s your turn.”

Wu Xian turned to the three eager newcomers, smiling slightly:

“You three have too few reward points and not a single side quest—you can only buy generic weapons and common entertainment items from the Main God.”

Of course, you could directly enhance your six core attributes through the Main God, but in my view, that’s pure waste—it’s no different from starting from scratch.”

“So… I’m offering you two choices.”

As the three watched nervously, Wu Xian’s voice grew lower: “First, I’ll lend you some reward points and side quests—at least a D-rank enhancement.”

“Like Zheng Zha, it’s an early investment. If you later earn substantial rewards in horror films, you must repay me with interest.”

A grain of rice brings gratitude; a bushel brings resentment. Things too easily obtained are never valued. Wu Xian understood this well—he’d already stressed it when helping Zheng Zha, and all three had agreed then; now they nodded vigorously in assent.

“And what’s the second option?”

Zhan Lan asked suspiciously: “Based on my novel-writing tropes, this second option is your real goal, isn’t it?”

“Women, sometimes being too smart isn’t attractive.”

Wu Xian’s lips curled slightly as he continued: “Second option… enhance yourselves first with your current reward points, then I’ll train you—firearms use, close combat, everything.

Once I judge you’ve reached the standard, you’ll return with me to the Biohazard world to farm more reward points and side quests. When you come back, you’ll have enough to properly enhance yourselves.”

“Go back to Biohazard to farm points? You can actually do that!!”

Everyone was surprised, then, under Wu Xian’s hint, noticed the Main God indeed offered an option to return to the previous world—but it cost ten reward points per day.

Other options included Return to The Final Destination, Scream, A Nightmare on Elm Street, and Return to Reality—but each required fifty reward points per day plus one D-rank side quest.

“Return to Reality!”

Zheng Zha and the others stared eagerly at this option—then their faces fell as they saw the requirements.

Too expensive!

Never mind the D-rank side quest—fifty reward points a day meant fifteen hundred a month, enough to buy a vampire viscount enhancement outright.

“Well? What’s your choice?”

Wu Xian glanced at the still-blank “Return to Reality” option and asked calmly.

“I… I choose the second option—return to Biohazard and farm points!”

Zhan Lan’s expression shifted several times; finally, she took a deep breath and gave her answer.

“We’ll face many more horror films ahead—some will be far more dangerous than Biohazard. Rather than die helplessly then, I’d rather fight now. Maybe I’ll live longer.”

“I choose the second too.”

Mou Gang fell silent for a long while, then stepped forward.

“My life in reality was miserable—my wife argued with me daily, called me useless, my son was no good. Life felt pointless. Maybe that’s why I ended up here.”

“But now that I’m here, with a chance to change my fate, I won’t give it up lightly. I’ll earn what I want here, fight to survive, and bring it all back to my old world!”

“Me too!”

Li Xiaoyi clenched his teeth, face flushed red as he growled: “I refuse to be a waste anymore!”

“Count me in.”

Zheng Zha stepped forward and patted Li Xiaoyi’s shoulder in comfort, then turned to Wu Xian, indicating he too wished to enter Biohazard.

Though he now had a solid bloodline enhancement, in the Main God space, reward points were always better in greater quantity—only by growing stronger quickly could he hope to survive.

“Good spirit. It seems you’ve all made your resolve. As captain of the Central Plains Team, I’m pleased.”

Wu Xian’s smile softened: “Then I’ll give you half a day to prepare. After lunch, training begins…”

“By the way, there are some special perks in the Main God space I didn’t mention earlier—I feared you’d become distracted. But now, I think you’re ready.”

“Perks?”

“Yes. Aside from free room customization, the Main God offers another free perk… creation.”

As Wu Xian said this, he sighed inwardly.

It’s better to channel than to suppress—he couldn’t hide the creation feature for long.

Not to mention, when the next man arrives, he’ll inevitably discover it and bring up his “bodyguard theory.”

Better to explain it openly now, and help Zheng Zha and the others weigh the pros and cons of creation—and the Main God’s forced deployment of created beings into horror films.

If, after learning all this, Zheng Zha still chooses to create Luo Li, I can’t stop him—I can only pray that before entering Biohazard 2, I’ve already reached a Four-High…

No—at least a Near-Saint level. Then I’ll crush Demon Zheng Zha to dust and eliminate this unstable threat once and for all.
