Chapter 214: The Worst Possible Start: Wu Xian (Monthly Votes Please
That's right, the Angel Wu Xian had reincarnated too early, but the Marvel Wu Xian had reincarnated too late—he skipped right past the entire Avengers 1–3 plotline and landed in the timeline right after Thanos snapped his fingers.
It's also amusing that before the Marvel Wu Xian reincarnated, the original owner of this body was a genuine rich second-generation heir.
Though his family's assets couldn't compare to Stark Industries, they still held considerable standing in New York's capital circles.
Yet just as Thanos snapped his fingers, the original owner's capitalist parents were returning to New York in their private jet.
Even more coincidentally, the pilot of that private jet was chosen by the Infinity Stones and instantly turned to ash, vanishing without a trace.
Naturally, without a pilot to control it, the plane soon crashed, killing the original owner's parents outright.
With both parents dead, the original owner was naturally devastated—but even more devastating was the stock price collapse, which instantly slashed the family's wealth by more than half.
Moreover, since the capitalist parents had been so wealthy, they'd surely exploited many people in business; now that they were dead, these enemies were overjoyed, yet frustrated they hadn't killed them themselves, so they vented all their rage onto the original owner.
A son pays his father's debts—this is only fair.
Thus, the company, already teetering on the brink, quickly collapsed due to various reasons, accumulating massive debts; the original owner, as a result, transformed from a rich second-generation heir into a debt-ridden second-generation loser.
After enduring this rollercoaster of life's highs and lows—down, down, down, down, down—the original owner's mind and body were severely shattered, especially when he thought of the mountain of debt awaiting him, leaving him utterly hopeless.
In the end, the original owner chose to give up completely: he spent his remaining money in one final spree, then checked into a motel and swallowed poison, leaving this miserable world behind.
Undoubtedly, the original owner succeeded.
The moment he left, Wu Xian reincarnated right behind him; after absorbing the memories in his mind, he couldn't help but curse "mmp," then, despite the agonizing stomach cramps, dialed for an ambulance. After being rushed to the hospital and having his stomach pumped, he barely clung to life.
This was the worst possible reincarnation experience—undoubtedly the most pathetic start for any Wu Xian so far—that the Marvel Wu Xian desperately wanted to find a dump truck on the street right now just to get reincarnated again with a better pose.
But because he was afraid of pain, he temporarily shelved that idea; faced with astronomical debt, Wu Xian could only grumble and choose to flee, using the last of the original owner's money to buy a ticket to Nepal, planning to lie low there first.
As for why Nepal? The reason was simple.
Aside from being far enough away that creditors couldn't catch up for now, the most important reason was that Wu Xian wanted to test his luck and see if he could latch onto Kamar-Taj's coattails.
As everyone knows, in the Marvel universe, the rich rely on technology, the poor on mutations—if neither works, you're left with magic!
As Earth's most powerful magical organization, Kamar-Taj was naturally the only viable choice for learning magic—the only problem was how to find it.
Fortunately, the issue wasn't too hard: perhaps because the original owner had been so unlucky, he'd hit rock bottom and bounced back; barely had Wu Xian arrived in Nepal when he found a way into Kamar-Taj and quickly gained qualification to study magic.
The reason it was so easy was because Strange had vanished, leaving Kamar-Taj once again without a Sorcerer Supreme; after much deliberation among the sorcerers, they decided to appoint Strange's assistant, Wang, as acting Sorcerer Supreme.
Interestingly, the day Wu Xian arrived in Nepal was precisely the day Wang officially assumed the title of Sorcerer Supreme.
Because of this, Wang was in an exceptionally good mood that day; with a wave of his hand, he decided to take Wu Xian as his disciple—the first direct disciple since becoming Sorcerer Supreme.
To be honest, Wu Xian was a bit disappointed; compared to the previous two Sorcerer Supremes, Wang was vastly inferior in both power and looks, and being his disciple felt like a step down in prestige.
But as a magic newbie, Wu Xian had no choice—he could only obediently call Wang "Fat Wang Master" and begin systematically learning basic magical knowledge under his tutelage.
Today marked Wu Xian's third month at Kamar-Taj; he had already learned how to open portals and was now studying astral projection—the so-called soul-out-of-body technique.
Before sleeping, he tried it briefly, and unsurprisingly failed; he drifted off to sleep in a foul mood.
When he opened his eyes again, he found himself in a mysterious space, where he met the martial arts Wu Xian on duty—and then…
There was no "then."
Just as the Snow Country Wu Xian had seen when he entered, the Marvel Wu Xian had become addicted to following updates, heading irreversibly toward the imperialist faction.
Thinking of this, the Snow Country Wu Xian wore a helpless expression, his gaze toward the Marvel Wu Xian now filled with more complex emotions.
The Marvel Universe's upper limit is extremely high; among all the worlds he's encountered so far, only the Consuming and Infinite Terror worlds could rival it.
Unlike other worlds that require long years of cultivation, Marvel's power growth plays by no rules—just being exposed to some random radiation beam could instantly turn you into a universe-level powerhouse.
In the Infinite Terror world, that would be at least a Primary Saint level—literally a one-step ascent to heaven.
Now, the Marvel Wu Xian has gained tremendous power through the mysterious space and has at least minimal self-defense capability on Earth.
With more time ahead, he can now search for ways to grow stronger—perhaps next time they meet, he'll be able to fly off right from the spot.
Thinking of this, the Snow Country Wu Xian began recalling some of the Marvel Universe's godlike artifacts.
Aside from the Infinity Stones, there was also a divine artifact called the Cosmic Cube—but that was from the comics; he didn't know if it would ever appear in future movies… Oh! And the Sentry Serum.
He remembered a trailer for a movie called "Thunder Squad" had already been released, and it apparently featured Sentry—maybe he could send the new guy to try it out.
A hundred million stellar powers… if he obtained that and combined it with Kryptonian bloodline, how terrifyingly strong would the reincarnator Wu Xian become? Just imagining sharing it with others made him giddy.
"Hey! So lively—did another newbie show up?"
As he thought this, a familiar laugh sounded beside him; the Snow Country Wu Xian turned and saw the reincarnator Wu Xian's figure.
Seeing the grin on the other's face, the Snow Country Wu Xian raised an eyebrow curiously: "You seem to be in good spirits—got some good news?"
"Hah! Long story—I won't waste your time, just look for yourself!"
The reincarnator Wu Xian gave a knowing smile, then raised his hand and slapped the Snow Country Wu Xian on the shoulder.
