【Killing one opposing team member, the Zhongzhou team’s current score is +13, reward points awarded: 26,000…】

【Killing a team member has unlocked the Gene Lock; reward: one B-rank subplot, 7,000 reward points…】

In the end, Wu Xian followed his inner choice and sent the five West Sea team newcomers on their way.

There was no choice—this was the reincarnation world, a place where death could come at any moment. He might grow stronger through his cheat, not heavily reliant on the Master God’s enhancements.

But the others in the Zhongzhou team were different; reward points and subplots allowed them to exchange for advanced bloodlines and skills from the Master God, becoming stronger.

Only then could they survive better in this endless world.

For this, occasionally bending moral boundaries was acceptable; there was no need to waste excessive sympathy on strangers who might become enemies in the future.

Moreover, through Zhan Lan’s memory read of Julian and Reinhardt, these five newcomers had all previously experienced a horror film.

But due to exploitation by the two breeders, they received no enhancements, and before entering the Ju-On world, they had nearly been tortured and humiliated multiple times by Reinhardt, their minds already on the verge of collapse.

Thus, killing them now was, in a way, a release.

Otherwise, even if they survived and returned to the Master God’s space, they might become new breeders…

Meanwhile, the Zhongzhou team members raised no objections to Wu Xian’s decision; even Zheng Zha, the bleeding-heart, after seeing the memory footage transmitted by Zhan Lan, could only offer a bitter smile and accept it silently.

But when it came to distributing the spoils, he refused the veteran’s privilege and gave one West Sea team newcomer’s head to Ling Dian, who had helped him kill Shiva Gantian.

Thus, the team battle ended completely—the Inkzhou and West Sea teams, totaling twenty-one people… no, twenty, were all annihilated.

Aside from Reinhardt, who was about to become a lab rat, the Zhongzhou team killed thirteen of them, while their own numbers remained untouched—this could rightly be called a glorious victory.

Most crucially, only two or three hours had passed.

One could imagine that if this news spread to other ordinary reincarnation teams, it would terrify them into sleepless nights and rank the Zhongzhou team alongside the Heavenly God and Demon teams—or even higher.

Of course, all that was still future talk, set aside for now.

Half an hour later, Zheng Zha used his red flame to dispose of the West Sea team’s corpses, while Zhan Lan used telepathy to control the temple’s monks and abbot, securing each Zhongzhou member a fine meditation chamber.

But by midnight, everyone gathered in Wu Xian’s room to discuss strategies and directions for completing the main quest.

“The Gakuyo in this world is undoubtedly far stronger than the original film version; we cannot yet confirm if the American Ju-On setting applies, but it’s not impossible.”

Chu Xuan took a bright red apple from his space bag, eating as he spoke: “Earlier, using Zhu Wen’s ability, we located the strongest source of death energy in Dongjingcheng—a desolate shrine. But just as we prepared to explore it, Gakuyo suddenly appeared and attacked.”

“Based on the main quest issued by the Master God, I’m seventy percent certain the source of Ju-On is hidden within that shrine—or there’s some special connection between them.”

“A shrine?”

Wu Xian frowned; this differed significantly from the plot of the original Ju-On film and the novel…

Come to think of it, according to the American film’s setting, Gakuyo’s mother’s family once had many exorcist priestesses—could this shrine be connected to them?

Thinking this, Wu Xian asked Friday to project the geographic coordinates of the shrine—but received a “location not found” result.

Meanwhile, Zhan Lan, under Chu Xuan’s guidance, used her mental energy to scan the area.

The result was obvious: no trace of the shrine remained, as if some unseen force had erased its existence from the city.

As for using Zuo Bo Gangxiong and Zuo Bo Junxiong, those two turncoats, to track down Gakuyo…

Sorry, I forgot to mention: when we found the illusory world trapping Chu Xuan and the others, those two ghosts vanished spontaneously, even his Soul Binding and Spirit Summoning had no reaction.

Wu Xian suspected they were merely avatars; when encountering Gakuyo, their original master, they were inherently suppressed and died so inexplicably.

Now, Wu Xian had lost his effective means to track Gakuyo—quite frustrating.

Oh, and Zhu Wen could still see the drifting death energy—but now it was scattered and thin, everywhere yet impossible to locate any concentrated source.

“So what do we do? The shrine’s gone, Gakuyo’s hiding—maybe we just stay in this temple for fifteen days? That should complete the main quest.”

Zheng Zha scratched his head, voicing his idea.

“The Master God never gives impossible quests, but it also never makes things easy for reincarnators—this has happened many times. I don’t think waiting here is a good idea.”

Zhan Lan shook her head; under Wu Xian’s influence, her personality had changed significantly, now favoring proactive strikes.

“I agree. But we don’t need to rush now—we’ve been busy half the night; everyone’s probably exhausted. Rest well, and we’ll plan tomorrow.”

Wu Xian smiled, then added cautiously: “By the way, though this temple resists Ju-On, it’s not foolproof.”

For safety, no one should sleep alone—should Gakuyo attack, at least someone can help.”

This made sense; against a powerful ghost like Gakuyo, caution was always wise.

Yet at that moment, Zhao Ying, who had been unusually silent, unexpectedly objected, demanding to sleep alone—with a surprisingly reasonable reason:

“I’m an assassin. I’m used to operating alone. And if Gakuyo is truly stronger than in the original film, numbers mean nothing—I’d rather be alone, so I can flee faster.”

“Zhao Ying, first, I don’t believe assassins must operate alone. Second, what I said was an order, not a request. If you want to defy me, wait until you can beat me.”

He suddenly extended his right hand, releasing mental force to immobilize the startled Zhao Ying, then ruffled her black, neatly trimmed short hair into a messy bird’s nest.

“I’ll kill you!”

Zhao Ying had never endured such treatment; once Wu Xian released her, she lunged like a little tiger, determined to splatter him with blood.

At that moment, Zhan Lan swiftly grabbed the girl’s slender waist—still dragged along as Zhao Ying chased Wu Xian, the previously heavy atmosphere now brightened considerably.

Unfortunately, Zhao Ying’s current strength was worlds apart from Wu Xian’s.

After a chaotic scuffle, she failed to avenge herself and instead got her hair styled into several new looks, finally ending up with a flushed face and a pout, forced to share a room with Zhan Lan and Zhu Wen.

“Alright, that’s settled: Zheng Zha and Chu Xuan, Wang Xia and Mu Gang, Li Xiaoyi and Qi Tengyi, Ling Dian and Cheng Xiao—split into four pairs, one room each. Balanced combat power, guaranteed safety.”

“What about you, captain?”

Zheng Zha asked, glancing instinctively at Zhan Lan, who gave him a glare.

“Heh, don’t worry about me—if Gakuyo really dares come to me, things will be simple.”

Saying this, Wu Xian’s eyes narrowed slightly as he smiled: “I’ll do my best to give this poor lady Gakuyo a wonderfully unforgettable night.”
