Chapter 4: Struggle
After a simple experiment, Zhang Luo Fu reluctantly realized.
The ninja techniques from the Ninja World’s Uchiha Luofu could not be used in this world at all; although kekkei genkai like the Sharingan had transformed into innate bloodline abilities, chakra had begun converting into primordial qi, and the blood demon technique’s vessel—the seven-pupiled vertical eye on his brow—appeared directly.
But aside from these bloodline abilities resembling kekkei genkai and blood demon techniques, the ninja techniques Zhang Luo Fu had once placed great hope in were utterly incompatible with this world.
Though he could sense the primordial qi within him flowing like chakra through hand seals, it could never leave his body or manifest as a ninja technique.
Whether it was Uchiha Luofu’s most proficient Fire Release or Lightning Release, or even the Water Release and Earth Release techniques he’d hastily learned in a pinch, none could manifest in this world at all.
Yet Zhang Luo Fu knew well that in this world, techniques involving fire, lightning, water, and earth all existed.
The Fire Virtue Sect was the foremost expert in fire techniques among the yiren world; let alone how even sorcerers could perform diverse spells through the Qimen system.
The Thunder Techniques of Longhu Mountain were renowned throughout the yiren world, practically their signature art.
Since this world already possessed corresponding techniques, Zhang Luo Fu concluded the sole reason he could not perform ninja techniques was that the fundamental laws of this world operated differently.
Though he could not directly cast the ninja techniques inherited from Uchiha Luofu, the knowledge of those techniques gave Zhang Luo Fu profound inspiration.
Zhang Chulan, who mastered the Five Yang Thunders, had developed a series of lightning spells; perhaps Zhang Luo Fu could do the same—merely requiring time to uncover the patterns compatible with the One Under Heaven world’s system.
The first step is always the hardest; Zhang Luo Fu believed that once he broke through from zero to one, converting other ninja techniques into spells would become second nature.
Zhang Luo Fu, immersed in solitary experimentation, failed to notice that months had passed swiftly.
While Zhang Luo Fu devoted himself entirely to studying his innate bloodline ability—the Seven Sins Eye—and the Sharingan, Zhang Chulan had received news that someone had dug up his grandfather’s grave.
Yes!!!
After months of transformation, the chakra from the Ninja World had fully converted into the primordial qi of the One Under Heaven world.
With abundant primordial qi to sustain him, Zhang Luo Fu could now activate his three-tomoe Sharingan and maintain it for nearly an hour.
Unfortunately, aside from these bloodline or kekkei genkai-like abilities, which integrated seamlessly into his body’s function,
Zhang Luo Fu still found no clue in converting ninja techniques into spells.
Even after acquiring on the yiren internet several basic Fire Virtue Sect spells, rudimentary Thunder Techniques from the Shenxiao Sect, and earth-dodging techniques of the Earth Immortals, he still found no path to transform ninja techniques into spells.
The Earth Immortals’ earth-dodging technique and the Earth Release from the Naruto world were entirely different things; at first glance, their names seemed similar.
But in truth, the Earth Immortals’ earth-dodging technique was merely one isolated method drawn from the Five Elements dodging arts—not a true earth technique.
Spells and dodging techniques were clearly distinct; the latter was merely a means of escape, while the former were truly diverse methods of combat.
After so much effort yielded no progress, had it not been for the immense power granted by the kekkei genkai-derived innate abilities—the Sharingan and the Seven Sins Eye—he would have long since given up and sought out Nandou Tong or Zhang Chulan.
Zhang Luo Fu had to admit: working alone in isolation truly didn’t work!!
Only when Zhang Luo Fu finally noticed that months had passed—and that Zhang Chulan had just returned home—did he realize, to his shock, that the main storyline of the One Under Heaven world had already begun.
He had missed Zhang Chulan’s iconic scene of kneeling barefoot as Feng Baobao’s slave.
To confirm the exact timeline, Zhang Luo Fu went directly to Zhang Chulan’s dormitory; from his roommate, he finally understood the current point in time.
Zhang Chulan had just arranged an online date with a junior, and had gone out for it tonight.
Without hesitation, Zhang Luo Fu left the dorm and immediately called Zhang Chulan.
After a flashy ringtone, Zhang Chulan’s impatient voice came through the phone.
“Dude, Tiger, are Itachi crazy? I’m on a date right now. Don’t bother me, Itachi middle-school delinquent! Enough, I’m hanging up!!”
“Virgin. Are Itachi with a woman named Liu Yanyan?”
“Fuck Itachi! Itachi think I won’t beat Itachi up like I did when we were kids if Itachi keep calling me that?”
“Don’t change the subject. I’m asking Itachi—are Itachi with a woman named Liu Yanyan?”
After the second question, Zhang Luo Fu waited a long while before hearing Zhang Chulan’s reply.
“First tell me how Itachi know? Even my roommate only knows I went on a date—he doesn’t know the girl’s name. Are Itachi some kind of pervert who planted a bug or camera on me?”
Ignoring Zhang Chulan’s complaints over the phone, Zhang Luo Fu smiled confidently, thinking inwardly: Good—everything has just begun, and it’s not too late!!
If I don’t interfere now, Zhang Chulan will soon encounter Quanxing for the first time.
Though this encounter with Quanxing still didn’t reveal much of Zhang Chulan’s power, Zhang Luo Fu remembered that during the event, Nandou Tong had a certain earth-dodging “earth monkey.”
After so long working alone in isolation and still finding no path to transform ninja techniques into spells,
Zhang Luo Fu could only hope that, through the Sharingan’s powerful perception, he might observe the earth monkey’s techniques and find even a glimmer of the key to turning ninja techniques into spells.
But there was one problem he had to consider.
Zhang Chulan was currently somewhere unknown—where should Zhang Luo Fu go to find him?
In the vast expanse of Tianjin, finding one person without any leads was no easier than searching for a needle in a haystack.
After a moment of thought, Zhang Luo Fu made his decision.
He didn’t know where Zhang Chulan was, but given Zhang Chulan’s financial means, even if he splurged to impress a girl, he wouldn’t go anywhere upscale.
He knew of some modest guesthouses near Nankai University, suitable for couples and reasonably priced.
Lurking outside the guesthouse street, he had an 80% chance of spotting Zhang Chulan.
If this failed, he’d have to rely on eventually infiltrating the Luotian Da Jiao.
After splurging on a car outside the guesthouse street, Zhang Luo Fu didn’t wait long before spotting Zhang Chulan chatting happily with Liu Yanyan.
