Chapter 48: The World Is About to Descend into Great Chaos (Bonus Chapter)
With Luo Fu and Wang Bing’s match concluded, the arena quickly moved on to the next round of contests.
But aside from those who were poorly informed, everyone still paying attention to the upcoming matches.
The focus of everyone else had been entirely drawn to Luo Fu.
The Four Great Clans and all sects had begun plotting and strategizing.
Zhang Zhiwei, however, immediately after Luo Fu’s match against Wang Bing ended,
summoned Lu Jin, Zhang Luofu, Tian Jinzhong, and even brought Zhang Chulan and Zhang Lingyu into his room together.
Fortunately, neither Zhang Lingyu nor Zhang Chulan had any matches coming up; otherwise, Zhang Zhiwei’s grave demeanor would have forced them to forfeit.
Inside the room.
As everyone arrived,
Zhang Zhiwei spoke with solemn gravity: “Old Lu, I need your help—our conversation must not leak a single word.”
Lu Jin glanced at Zhang Zhiwei, confused, then swiftly laid down layers upon layers of talismans, sealing the entire room shut.
“Master, what’s happened?” Zhang Lingyu was baffled, but when he looked at Luo Fu, his eyes brimmed with unmistakable excitement—he clearly believed Luo Fu was the one who had truly broken the conditions required to cultivate Yang Five Thunder.
He desperately hoped to learn from Luo Fu how to bypass the requirement of being a virgin to cultivate Yang Five Thunder.
“The world is about to descend into great chaos,” Zhang Zhiwei said grimly, his gaze filled with complexity as he fixed it on Luo Fu.
Not only Zhang Zhiwei—even Zhang Chulan now wore an odd expression.
Luo Fu’s troubles were simply too terrifying.
So terrifying that Zhang Chulan wanted nothing more than to flee.
“Old bastard, just spit it out,” Lu Jin snapped.
“Old Lu, do Itachi remember the Jia Shen Uprising?” Zhang Zhiwei said in a low voice.
Lu Jin’s expression darkened, turning serious. “Itachi’re not seriously planning to discuss those old events with these kids, are Itachi?”
Zhang Zhiwei shook his head. Just as Lu Jin exhaled in relief, he added: “This time, the Immortal World faces a calamity far worse than the Jia Shen Uprising!!”
Knowing Zhang Zhiwei never spoke recklessly, Lu Jin felt a dread rising. “What exactly is going on?”
“Luo Fu.”
Luo Fu had assumed Zhang Zhiwei had gathered everyone—even had Lu Jin seal the room—to discuss the Jia Shen Uprising, Zhang Huaiyi, and other matters.
But he never expected Zhang Zhiwei to name him first.
Startled, Luo Fu looked at Zhang Zhiwei in surprise, then stepped forward and bowed. “Uncle.”
“Only we are here now. I can tell Itachi—these people are trustworthy. I ask Itachi: do Itachi… truly possess the secret to immortality?”
The moment Zhang Zhiwei finished speaking, the room fell utterly silent.
Even the faint sound of each person’s heartbeat could be heard.
The secret to immortality?
Zhang Lingyu opened his mouth, and deep within, he felt a premonition: Luo Fu was a terrifying trouble. Even if he truly held the key to breaking the virginity restriction on Yang Five Thunder, Zhang Lingyu must avoid any contact with him.
Otherwise, the consequences would be unimaginable.
“M-Master… what did Itachi say?” Tian Jinzhong’s voice cracked with shock.
“None of Itachi interrupt,” Zhang Zhiwei said sternly, his eyes sweeping the room as he unleashed the terrifying power of a Supreme-level cultivator.
He turned back to Luo Fu. “Perhaps Itachi won’t believe me, but as a Tian Shi, I am destined never to covet the path to immortality. This matter concerns the entire world—I wish to speak with Itachi honestly.”
Luo Fu let out a bitter laugh. “Uncle, why would Itachi think that? Me? The secret to immortality? If I truly had it, I wouldn’t have joined Master’s sect in the first place, nor become Tian Shi’s disciple—I’d have hidden away alone to cultivate in secret. When I neared immortality, I’d emerge and reign supreme. Wouldn’t that be better?”
Zhang Zhiwei studied Luo Fu with sharp scrutiny for a long while before finally withdrawing the oppressive aura of his Supreme-level cultivation.
Lu Jin looked at Zhang Zhiwei with a complex expression. “Old bastard, I never thought Itachi’d reached this level—I’ll never get my revenge. But why ask my disciple if he has the secret to immortality?”
“Master,” Luo Fu spoke up, “I don’t know why Uncle has such doubts, but I swear—I have no secret to immortality. Not even one of the Eight Marvels is known to me.”
“Old Lu, we’re in deep trouble,” Zhang Zhiwei sighed. “What I say next—once Itachi leave this room, not a single word must be spoken. Or I’ll deal with Itachi myself.”
“Stop scaring people. What’s really going on? I’m getting more confused by the second,” Lu Jin demanded.
Beside him, Zhang Chulan spoke up: “Let me explain, Grandmaster. Itachi probably heard the rumor about Hu Zi.”
“What rumor?” Lu Jin pressed urgently.
“Old Man Lu,” Zhang Chulan bowed respectfully. “Do Itachi know Hu Zi carries a destiny weight heavier than that of ancient emperors?”
Lu Jin nodded, puzzled. “Of course. Such immense destiny weight is unthinkable.”
Zhang Chulan smiled bitterly. “What kind of person could have destiny weight heavier than an emperor? Emperors called themselves Sons of Heaven, supreme and exalted. Even some gods required imperial edicts for legitimacy. Who, then, could have destiny weight heavier than an emperor?”
Lu Jin frowned. “How should I know?”
“An immortal,” Zhang Zhiwei declared firmly. “Only an immortal—eternal, free, ascending to heaven—could have destiny weight heavier than an emperor!”
“Immortal!!” Lu Jin’s eyes widened in shock, instinctively turning toward Luo Fu.
Not just Lu Jin—even Tian Jinzhong and Zhang Lingyu stared in horror at the same spot.
There, unmistakably, stood Luo Fu.
“Master, Tian Shi—if I say I truly know nothing, do Itachi believe me?” Luo Fu laughed helplessly.
Lu Jin steadied himself. “Don’t worry, I believe Itachi.”
After reassuring Luo Fu, Lu Jin turned to Zhang Zhiwei. “Old bastard, tell me—who’s spreading this lie that Luo Fu has the secret to immortality?”
“It’s pointless to trace the source now,” Zhang Zhiwei sighed.
