Chapter 50: Seven Temporary Workers

~6 min read 1,111 words

In the company’s official institutions, there actually exists a place called the Black Fortress.

Among the seven major regions, each has its own separate Black Fortress.

For example, the Black Fortress in Huanan holds Chen Duo, Chen Junyan, the Dinosaur Man, Feng Boming, and others; the Northeast Black Fortress hides Gao Erzhuang.

The other five major regions naturally also have their own unique Black Fortresses and hidden secrets.

As temporary worker assistants, Xu San and Xu Si themselves had little trust in Zhang Chulan—how could they possibly let him know about the Black Fortress?

Even Feng Baobao, a temporary worker, might not know about the Black Fortress, let alone Zhang Chulan, a newcomer to the yiren world.

In comparison, Luo Fu, who had only officially become a yiren for less than three months, understood the yiren world far more deeply than Zhang Chulan.

Ironically, before Zhang Chulan met Feng Baobao and officially joined the company, his knowledge of the yiren world mostly came from Luo Fu’s words.

Yes.

For over a decade, he persistently pursued understanding of the yiren world and sought ways to enter it; after becoming a marginal figure in the yiren world, Luo Fu had repeatedly introduced Zhang Chulan to the information he had gathered about the yiren circle when he constantly clung to Zhang Chulan.

Zhang Chulan’s basic, naive understanding of the yiren world upon entering it—as a newcomer—was entirely due to Luo Fu’s relentless persistence.

In the room of Zhang Zhiwei, the Old Heavenly Master of Longhu Mountain, Luo Fu and others were discussing how to respond to the man seeking the secret of immortality.

On the training ground, match after match concluded victoriously, driving the progress of the Luotian Da Jiao.

And beneath Longhu Mountain.

Several distinctive figures quietly gathered together.

“Let me introduce everyone,” said Ren Fei, dressed in a suit as the company board representative and head of Huazhong, her gaze sweeping over the group. “This person beside me is a Huazhong temporary worker—Itachi can call him Heiguan!”

A thin, middle-aged man wearing glasses, resembling a weary office worker, nodded slightly to the group and said: “Huinan temporary worker, Akatsuki Zizai. I’m a patient. Please don’t get too close to me. If Itachi notice anything strange about my eyes, move away immediately!”

“Patient? What kind of illness do Itachi have?” The man had golden hair, a voluptuous figure, and an androgynous face; had his chest been anything but flat, anyone seeing him would assume he was a lovely young girl.

But unfortunately, this seemingly androgynous figure was in fact a thoroughly masculine man.

Wang Zhenqiu, the Southwest temporary worker known as the Southwest Tumor, like Quanxing’s Ding An, was a man who lived off others’ charity.

“Don’t get too close to me, thank Itachi!” Akatsuki Zizai nodded to Wang Zhenqiu, then deliberately kept his distance from everyone else.

“I’m the Huinan head, Liao Zhong. This is my subordinate temporary worker, Chen Duo.” Liao Zhong, with a scar across his nose splitting his face nearly in two and another knife scar on his right eye, looked fearsome; after introducing himself, he casually introduced Chen Duo beside him.

Wearing glasses and exuding a gentle, frail aura, utterly opposite to Akatsuki Zizai, the middle-aged man resembling a perpetually bullied office worker bowed to the group and said: “I’m the Northwest temporary worker. Itachi can call me Lao Meng. I’m a beast master.”

“Enough!” Ren Fei, as the head, spoke after the brief introductions: “The North China representative is on Longhu Mountain. Once she acts, she will coordinate with us from within.”

“Wait a minute—aren’t there seven major regions and seven temporary workers? Even counting the North China one on Longhu Mountain, we’re still missing one, aren’t we?” Wang Zhenqiu scanned the group with a teasing gaze.

Ren Fei said: “Wang Zhenqiu, I’ve heard of your reputation as the Southwest Tumor. The Northeast situation is special—he won’t meet Itachi for now. He has his own mission.”

The instant Ren Fei finished speaking, everyone’s phones rang simultaneously.

Upon opening their phones, they discovered a mysterious chat group had added all the temporary workers.

At the top of the chat group, a message spontaneously revealed itself.

Northeast: “Hello everyone, I’m the Northeast temporary worker, Gao Erzhuang. Itachi can call me Erzhuang. Due to special reasons, I can’t meet Itachi in person—please understand. (^O^)/”

Beneath Gao Erzhuang’s message, there was no reply at all.

Akatsuki Zizai glanced at the group, then lowered his head and quietly operated his phone. Soon, a message appeared in the chat group.

Huadong: “I’m Akatsuki Zizai. Huadong temporary worker. Nice to meet Itachi all.”

“Alright,” Ren Fei spoke, drawing everyone’s attention. “If Itachi’re interested, Itachi can chat privately later. For now, let’s discuss the mission. On Longhu Mountain, the Luotian Da Jiao is currently being held to select the next Heavenly Master. The vast majority of yiren under thirty are participating in this event, but our mission has little to do with the Luotian Da Jiao. Have any of Itachi heard the rumor that spread rapidly through the yiren world just a few hours ago?”

“Luo Fu—the man whose fate-weight exceeds that of ancient emperors, who awakened his innate yiren ability in under three months and has almost no rivals at the Luotian Da Jiao—he has inherited the Fa Mai of San Yi Men from Lu Jin, the patriarch of the Lu family. He is now the master of San Yi Men.”

After a brief pause, Ren Fei slowed her pace: “Word from Quanxing suggests that Luo Fu may possess the secret of immortality.”

“The secret of immortality? Can Itachi really become immortal?” Wang Zhenqiu looked eager and intensely interested.

“The information comes from Quanxing—it’s not reliable. In such a short time, it’s already reached the company’s upper echelons and brought us all together. I suspect there’s a conspiracy behind this,” said Heiguan.

“I also feel something’s off,” said Lao Meng, his voice soft as if he were a middle-aged office worker anyone could bully at will.

“Since our goal has little to do with the Luotian Da Jiao on Longhu Mountain, let’s first figure out how to lure Luo Fu down the mountain,” Wang Zhenqiu volunteered. “Let me handle it—I’m genuinely curious about this Luo Fu.”

“Luo Fu cannot be handed over to any of Itachi. Itachi are not even permitted to meet him privately?” Ren Fei’s expression turned stern. “Remember: your mission is to follow headquarters’ orders. Execute them without deviation. I don’t need your personal opinions. Do Itachi understand? Wang Zhenqiu!”

“I understand, of course I understand—but why are Itachi specifically emphasizing it to me?” Wang Zhenqiu looked wounded.
