Chapter 434: Totto Land's Pillar of Heaven and Sea-Supporting Golden Beam

"Smoothie, withdraw your weapon; this gentleman is not an enemy."

At this moment, Katakuri, in whose eyes a deep blue light had flashed, stepped forward, looked Zhang Jie straight in the eyes, and spoke.

"Yes, Brother Katakuri."

Smoothie, who was just full of vigilance toward Zhang Jie, immediately put her long sword back into its sheath after hearing Katakuri's words.

Apparently, this second son of the Xia Luote family, the "highest masterpiece of the Xia Luote family," had deep prestige among his brothers and sisters.

Zhang Jie narrowed his eyes: 'Observation Haki at the level of foreseeing the future, really easy to use.'

Just like the advanced application of Armament Haki, Flowing Sakura, internal destruction,

Armament Haki entanglement, and the advanced application of Conqueror's Haki, Conqueror's Territory,

Conqueror's entanglement, the Observation Haki, one of

Its advanced application mainly consists of three types; the first is the Voice of All Things.

The Luo Jie Pirates, lacking an archaeologist, relied on this ability of their captain, Luo Jie,

to read the Poneglyphs left behind by that Great Kingdom eight hundred years ago,

obtain the location of the "Final Island," Laugh Tale,

and become the only pirate crew in eight hundred years to successfully conquer the Grand Line.

Luo Jie was also revered as the "freest man on the sea," that is, the Pirate King!

The second type is reading the hearts of others.

The most famous possessor of this ability is the man known as "a one-man pirate crew,"

who, by his own strength, stood on par with the Luo Jie Pirates, the Whitebeard Pirates,

and the Golden Lion's Flying Pirates: the "Red Count," the "Lone Red," Barricade Redfield.

The reason this Lone Red always walked alone and never associated with others,

it is said, is because he was born with top-tier Observation Haki that could read the hearts of others,

which showed him too much of the darkness in human hearts, causing him to never trust anyone but himself from then on.

The third type is the future prediction that Katakuri is currently displaying.

Users of this ability can see the future in an instant,

seeing things that might happen within a period of time, and can even hear the sounds of the future.

It is obvious that this ability can provide a huge advantage in battle, making the user almost invincible.

In the Whole Cake Island arc, Katakuri could instantly see fragments of the future,

which made him one of the strongest enemies Luffy encountered at the time.

Of course, even so, he was no match for Wang Lufei's protagonist halo and was beaten to the ground.

He even acted as a grandfather figure for once, allowing Luffy to break through his own limits during the battle and also master the ability to foresee the future.

Zhang Jie can only say that the Child of Destiny, fated eight hundred years ago, is simply terrifying~

"Thank you for holding Mom back; otherwise, I really dare not imagine what kind of destruction she would have caused,

or how many innocent people would have died." Katakuri bowed to Zhang Jie and thanked him sincerely.

Zhang Jie waved his hand, not taking credit: "I was also just protecting my hometown."

He personally had a very good impression of Katakuri.

Although this second son of the Xia Luote family appeared cold and ruthless, he was not a pure "bad guy."

He was a complex and multi-dimensional character, whose actions and motives were driven more by family responsibility,

personal trauma, and a distorted understanding of the definition of "strength."

If not for his management, given Big Mom's habit of killing without burying and her periodic hunger pangs,

Totto Land would not have its current prosperity, even if it didn't fall apart.

That he could quietly survive on Pineapple Island for so many years—

to tell the truth, he still owed Katakuri a favor.

"What, he was actually able to hold Mom back?!"

Smoothie, Xia Luote Daifuku, and other Xia Luote family officers were all shocked beyond measure when they heard Katakuri's words.

Who was their Mom?

She was a Pirate Emperor who shook the New World, made the World Government and the Navy wary, and was feared by countless pirates!

That Zhang Jie could actually cross blades with Mom and hold her back was simply beyond their imagination.

One must know that even when Mom's hunger pangs flared up and her conscious mind was reduced by more than half,

her strength was incomplete, but she was still not someone any Tom, Dick, or Harry could mess with.

In the Xia Luote family, only their Xia Luote family's greatest masterpiece,

brother Katakuri, could hold back the enraged Mom and keep her from destroying everything around her.

In other words, this unremarkable-looking kid in front of them was actually a powerhouse comparable to brother Katakuri?!

If it weren't for the fact that these words came from the deeply revered and highly prestigious Katakuri,

Smoothie and the others would have almost taken it as a joke.

For a moment, the Xia Luote family officers looked at Zhang Jie with much more respect—on the sea,

the most widely circulated currency is not the Berries issued by the World Government, but true, undeniable power!

Power is the only pass that works in the chaotic waters of the New World!

Zhang Jie, however, paid no mind to the shocked Smoothie and the others,

as he had anticipated such a scene from the moment he decided not to keep a low profile anymore.

What he was concerned about now was why Big Mom's hunger pangs had suddenly flared up.

Or rather, why she had come out to cause destruction.

If Big Mom came out to cause destruction often, then he would have to change his upcoming action plan—

he could not continue to leave Pete and old man Luo Er in such a Totto Land,

as there was no guarantee they wouldn't die one day at the hands of Big Mom during a hunger pang episode.

"It's like this..."

Before Katakuri could speak, Smoothie, one of the Sweet Commanders, explained with a wry smile.

Listening to the explanation from Smoothie, this true long-legged princess, Zhang Jie finally understood the cause and effect of Big Mom's hunger pangs.

How should one describe Big Mom's hunger pangs? There is no pattern to them.

As long as she desperately wants to eat a certain food but cannot get it, the hunger pangs will flare up.

However, one benefit is that Big Mom does not flare up immediately if she cannot get the food; she can endure for a certain number of days,

which gives Smoothie and the other Xia Luote family officers a certain amount of time to prepare the food she wants to eat.

When she falls ill, Katakuri usually guards her side,

and with Katakuri's future-predicting level of Observation Haki, he can hold her back when Big Mom's hunger pangs flare up

and she starts causing destruction. Although destruction still cannot be avoided,

it can greatly reduce losses and give other weaklings, such as chefs and guards, a chance to escape.

But this time, when the episode occurred, Katakuri happened to be outside Totto Land,

dealing with a powerful pirate crew that was trying to provoke the dignity of the Big Mom Pirates.

Without Katakuri, the main force and future-prediction machine,

the other Xia Luote family officers simply could not hold back Big Mom, who was suffering from hunger pangs

and had suddenly lashed out, allowing her to run out of the Queen Mama Chanter.

Then the rest of the story was that the others in the Xia Luote family rushed to find Katakuri,

and Big Mom arrived near Pineapple Island, where she was held back by Zhang Jie.

"Soka suru~"

Zhang Jie indicated that he was gradually understanding everything.

Katakuri is simply the pillar of Totto Land, the beam that holds up the sea!

Without him, the entire Totto Land and the Big Mom Pirates would likely fall apart!
