Chapter 144: Shengzai: Jogress Evolution with a Loli?
Kato Juri—Shengzai knew her. What baffled him, however, was that he should have been in the first season of Digimon; how had he been dumped straight into *Digimon Tamers*?
*Digimon Tamers* was the third season, where the famous Gallantmon made his debut.
Shengzai was puzzled because, theoretically, he had traveled through a space-time wormhole from the first season's Digital World to the human world. The human world he arrived in should have been the one from the first season.
Yet, the result was that after following the Chosen Children through the vortex, he had been dumped into a parallel-universe human world.
Of course, Shengzai didn't dwell on the jump from the first season to the third for long.
Even if it was a parallel world, it still contained a Digital World and a human world; it made little difference to him.
Furthermore, this *Tamers* parallel world possessed an advantage the first two seasons lacked.
That was the setting where Digimon could defeat others and absorb their data to grow stronger.
Honestly, if the Digimon of the first two seasons relied on grueling training to evolve, the Digimon of this third season were purely "raising gu."
As long as they defeated enough Digimon, even if they couldn't evolve, their strength would continue to grow.
For Shengzai, this world's mechanics were absolutely more favorable than the first two.
Upon arriving in this human world, Shengzai had already sensed the presence of other Digimon. He had originally intended to try defeating one to see how much his strength would increase, but then this whole situation happened.
After saving Juri from falling off the building, Shengzai devolved from Greymon back into Koromon.
Just as he judged the location of Boarmon by the scent in the air and prepared to leave, his body was suddenly scooped up.
"You really are the Digimon from before. You're so cute."
"And this kind of Digimon, I seem to have seen it before... let me find the card..."
Without a doubt, the person who had suddenly scooped Shengzai up from behind was the Juri he had just saved.
At this moment, the chestnut-haired loli not only held Shengzai's round body tightly, rubbing it against her face frantically, but also reached into her bag to find a Digimon card.
In the *Tamers* world, Tamers had another mechanic: they could swipe cards through their D-Arcs to boost their partner Digimon's strength or even allow them to use the special moves of other Digimon.
"Get your hands off me, I'm a real man! What the hell is 'cute'!"
"And I've already said, I'm not your partner Digimon. Your partner Digimon should be Leomon..."
Before Shengzai could finish, Juri had already found the Koromon card. She looked at the Shengzai in her arms and said, "It's a match. Koromon, In-Training, small Digimon, special move: Bubble Blow."
"So, did you even hear a word I said? I told you I'm not your partner Digimon. Your partner Digimon is Leomon..."
Before Shengzai could finish, the Koromon card in Juri's hand suddenly erupted in a blinding white light. Shortly after, a yellow D-Arc appeared out of thin air in her hand.
Shengzai: (⊙_⊙)!!! Is there some mistake?! When did I ever say I wanted to be this kid's Digimon!
Although he had briefly thought that having a loli caretaker might not be bad, that didn't mean he wanted to be some kind of loli-raising pervert!
Compared to the stunned Shengzai, Juri was overjoyed to see the yellow D-Arc suddenly appear in her hand.
She looked at the D-Arc to confirm she wasn't dreaming, then hugged Shengzai even tighter, rubbing her small face against his round, pancake-like face.
"This is impossible. Your partner should be Leomon, and that guy eventually got his kidney punched out by Beelzemon in a miserable way. Why now..."
"Leomon? I don't know any Leomon. Besides Calumon, you're the first harmless and ownerless Digimon I've ever seen, Koromon."
Hearing Juri's words, Shengzai froze. What the hell was going on? Leomon didn't appear in this world?
Even if the Leomon who jumped into the vortex with him didn't make it to this world, there should have been another Leomon in this parallel world, right?
Now he had inexplicably become the partner Digimon of a loli—this was completely outside his plans!
Because he already possessed the ability to evolve into a Perfect level, Shengzai could technically evolve on his own without relying on Juri.
But what about evolving into a Mega level? If he remembered correctly, in the *Tamers* world, the way Tamers and their partner Digimon reached the Mega level was through Jogress Evolution, right?
That meant unless he left this parallel world, if he wanted to become a Mega level here, he would have to Jogress Evolve with the loli in front of him?
Looking at the cute loli, Shengzai was speechless again. Jogress Evolution with a loli... just thinking about it felt evil...
Having her fight inside his body while she was... just thinking about it felt perverted... So, where did the link go wrong? Why did he suddenly become Kato Juri's partner Digimon?
"BOOM BOOM BOOM BOOM BOOM!!!"
Juri, holding Shengzai in one hand while fiddling with her D-Arc, was so happy about finding a partner Digimon that she didn't notice the ground shaking more and more violently.
Soon, as a Digimon the size of a small hill appeared at the end of the street, the protagonist group and their three Perfect-level partner Digimon saw Juri standing in the middle of the road.
WarGrowlmon, who had been standing in front of Boarmon trying to stop its advance, was sent flying backward by a strike from Boarmon's tusks.
The direction WarGrowlmon was flying happened to be exactly where Juri was standing, holding Shengzai.
"Juri, it's dangerous!"
"WarGrowlmon, hurry up and stop!"
Seeing WarGrowlmon about to crush Juri, Takato and the others shouted out.
The thrusters on WarGrowlmon's back were firing blue flames at full capacity, but the thrust generated wasn't enough to fully buffer the inertia acting on his body in such a short time.
