Chapter 37: Do You Understand the Joy of Female Digital Beasts and Sister Cards?
As for those still-charming Digital Beasts from the Digital World, I don’t need to elaborate on the Sister Cards from the Yu-Gi-Oh! world, do I?
Whether it’s the Dragon Maid series, the Pearl Tear series, the Blade Girl series—whether they’re mature beauties or little girls, beast-girls or machine-girls—they’re all there, absolutely everything you could want.
One’s a Rolling Ball Beast that turns everything into balls, and the other’s the classic hand-trap grunt from the card game—truly boundless potential ahead!
After the young Shengzai finished speaking, the other Shengzai present froze in place.
They were all Shengzai, with nearly identical thought patterns, so with just a slight hint, they instantly understood his meaning.
That’s right—the Rolling Ball Beast and the Grunt Ball are indeed battle-five trash in the Digital World and Monster Card World.
But they’re not ordinary Rolling Ball Beasts or Chestnut Balls—they’re men with cheats!
Never mind that the Rolling Ball Beast can evolve into the final form “See-Everyone-as-Dragon-Beast,” the Chestnut Ball seems capable of reaching its Level 10 ultimate form as well.
Setting aside their own evolution mechanics, there’s also this shared-power cheat—if a powerful Shengzai appears someday, even without evolving, they could become the strongest Rolling Ball Beast in the Digital World and the strongest Chestnut Ball in the Monster Card World.
Realizing this, the Sword-and-Saber Shengzai and the Tennis Prince Shengzai, who had just been comforting them, now looked at the two with unmistakable envy.
“Didn’t know you could play it like this—you’re a genius, little brother!”
“What’s your name? When I ride the Monster Spirit World in the future, I’ll share my memories and feelings with you first.”
Young Shengzai: “No problem, I’m Shengzai Wen.”
All Shengzai: “Obviously everyone here is Shengzai Wen—we just want to know which world you’re from, with such a bizarre way of thinking.”
After further questioning, they finally learned that this four- or five-year-old young Shengzai came from the world of “My Favorite Child.”
That world is also an anime, relatively new—Shengzai and the others had watched it, but since it hadn’t ended yet, they knew little of the plot.
But one thing was certain: in the “My Favorite Child” world, both the setting and power levels were clearly not high.
Among all the worlds seen so far, the “My Favorite Child” world appears to be the safest.
The “My Favorite Child” Shengzai is only four or five years old, and since that world has no supernatural forces, his current strength is exactly as his appearance suggests—a helpless four- or five-year-old child.
But perhaps because it’s one of the rare idol-themed anime, the “My Favorite Child” Shengzai excels in inspiration and thought compared to other Shengzai.
Of course, this advantage only matters a little in slice-of-life anime—it’s utterly useless in Rexue anime.
After sharing abilities and memories, the Sword-and-Saber Shengzai let out a heavy sigh—he’d been hoping a powerful Shengzai would appear so he could clear the Death Game sooner.
But after all this time, five worlds had already appeared, and surprisingly, his own contribution was the greatest in terms of combat power…
The Digital World and the Yu-Gi-Oh! World are, in a sense, already supernatural worlds.
Their power ceilings aren’t particularly low either—at least the Sword-and-Saber Shengzai believed a Mature-level Tyrannomon could walk freely in modern society.
Unfortunately, the Rolling Ball Beast Shengzai in the Digital World and the Chestnut Ball Shengzai in the Yu-Gi-Oh! World are currently far too weak.
The Rolling Ball Beast currently shares only one ability with them: a finishing move that looks more like a comical bubble-blowing attack.
The Chestnut Ball Shengzai’s shared ability is considerably better—it’s called “Damage Nullification.”
Just like the special effect described in Monster Cards, this “Damage Nullification” ability reduces any single instance of damage directed at the user to zero!
In terms of effect alone, it’s absolutely god-tier!
But sadly, in the Yu-Gi-Oh! World, using this ability only requires sending the Chestnut Ball from hand to graveyard.
Other-world Shengzai aren’t Monster Spirits, so they can’t be sent to a graveyard—thus, to use this power, other-world Shengzai must sacrifice a portion of their life force as a substitute for the graveyard cost.
“Life force” here likely refers to lifespan—whether it can be restored is uncertain, but as things stand, the cost is enormous.
Yet the power’s strength justifies this enormous cost.
Because this ability is rule-based, theoretically, even if an opponent delivers a divine strike, the damage will still be reduced to zero when Shengzai activates this ability.
In simple terms—it’s a top-tier protective talisman with a massive price.
This ability may be of little use to current Shengzai, but for future Shengzai entering high-power worlds, it’s undoubtedly god-tier.
After sharing abilities and memories, the three human Shengzai gave the Rolling Ball Beast Shengzai and Chestnut Ball Shengzai detailed instructions to work hard and grow strong quickly, then returned to their own worlds.
In the “My Favorite Child” world, the four- or five-year-old Shengzai had just woken up from bed, clenched his tiny fists, felt the surging power within his body, and his childish face instantly lit up with excitement.
Glancing at the light seeping under his door, Shengzai sighed deeply, then opened his door, walked to the kitchen to heat a cup of milk, put on his slippers, and slowly entered a room piled high with paper drafts.
In the dim room, a desk lamp provided only limited light, yet like a plump young woman seated in her chair, she worked diligently even though it was already three or four in the morning.
When Shengzai placed the warmed milk on her desk, she jumped at the sound, then, upon turning and seeing it was Shengzai, forced a strained, reluctant smile.
“Oh, it’s you, Shengzai—did Mom’s noise wake you up?”
“This milk is for me? You’re so thoughtful… thinking about how someday you’ll end up with some random little girl makes Mom’s heart ache.”
The young woman, who had been furiously drawing on her digital tablet, now forced a smile despite her heavy dark circles, looking at Shengzai.
“Yuko, didn’t you promise me you wouldn’t keep pulling all-nighters?”
Look at your dark circles and condition—do you really not care if you drop dead from overwork?”
(For those who haven’t seen the new world, treat it as original content—it’s been a top-ranked anime these past two years; I thought more people had watched it (ToT)/~~~
