Chapter 502: The Plot Begins: The First Encounter in Kaen Village!

~6 min read 1,050 words

At the time, Lachesis held the demonic sword "Ziliniram," but Shengzai still defeated her with the longsword of a knight he was accustomed to.

And because of this, shortly after Lachesis returned home, Shengzai, bewildered, learned that he and Lachesis had been betrothed.

To be fair, Lachesis was extremely beautiful, even rivaling Lana, known as the "Golden Princess."

But since they had grown up together, Shengzai had always treated Lachesis like a younger sister; now, with this sudden betrothal, he simply couldn’t bring himself to accept it.

And he was still so young—he had barely escaped into a multiracial fantasy world and hadn’t even experienced the customs of its various races yet, and now he was being forced into the grave of marriage?

The thought of Lachesis returning to the capital, and likely coming to challenge him again, while Lana, the little jealous one, pretended indifference but secretly set traps, made Shengzai’s head ache.

“I should find an excuse to leave the capital for now. I’ve gained great power—I can go on adventures and break through my level cap.”

“Whether Flying Mouse is friend or foe remains unclear, but only strength is the best bargaining chip.”

When Shengzai went to the palace to tell King Ramboza III of his desire to leave, the old king’s face showed clear hesitation.

To be fair, Shengzai wasn’t just the kingdom’s greatest warrior—he was also Ramboza III’s pride.

If Shengzai were the legitimate heir, the king would have unhesitatingly abdicated in his favor.

Unfortunately, Shengzai was illegitimate; even with his top-tier talent and ability, granting him the throne would trigger a unified rebellion from the nobility—it was a systemic issue.

Though Ramboza III was mediocre in ability, having ruled for so many years, he was not entirely foolish.

Shengzai’s excellence had already stirred fear and resentment in his two elder brothers, and the king had noticed.

So when Shengzai expressed his wish to leave the capital, Ramboza III inwardly refused.

He feared his other two sons would take advantage of Shengzai’s absence to harm him.

If his most trusted commander, Gajeff, were still here, he could accompany Shengzai, ensuring his safety.

But the problem was, yesterday, the kingdom received word that the Empire appeared to be violating its borders, so he had dispatched Gajeff.

He spoke without thought; Shengzai listened with intent.

Upon hearing that Gajeff had been sent out due to Imperial border incursions, Shengzai froze for a moment, then fixed his gaze on Ramboza III with serious expression: “Father, is the place Gajeff was sent to a village called Kaen Village in the northwest of the continent?”

Seeing Shengzai’s sudden tension and gravity, Ramboza III, though puzzled, replied honestly: “It is indeed in the northwest, and I’ve heard there’s a small village nearby—but whether it’s called Kaen Village, I’m not certain.”

Kaen Village was merely a border hamlet; it was normal for King Ramboza III not to know of it.

But upon hearing “northwest continent,” “kingdom,” “empire,” “theocracy,” and “Gajeff,” Shengzai already guessed—this was almost certainly the start of the plot.

“Commander Gajeff is in danger. The ones who violated our border aren’t Imperial soldiers—they’re the Siren Theocracy disguised as them.”

“They lured Gajeff there on purpose. I must go immediately—I must stop them from killing him!”

With those words, Shengzai gave Ramboza III no time to react—he left the palace at once and rode full speed toward Kaen Village.

The force the Siren Theocracy had assembled to kill Gajeff meant nothing to Shengzai; what he cared about were the Bone King and Yarbed, who were arriving at Kaen Village for the first time.

After leaving the capital, Shengzai found his horse too slow, so he used his ability to disguise his appearance and donned a mask.

As a current wrapped around his feet, the next second, the ground shattered beneath him—and his body exploded forward at a speed no ordinary human could perceive!

Meanwhile, in the northwest of the continent, near the border of the kingdom, empire, and theocracy, a village called Kaen Village, a group of soldiers clad in Imperial armor were being slaughtered by a towering Death Knight.

A Death Knight, merely a common minion in the Great Necropolis, was here a monster rivaling the “Hero Tier” of this world.

The Siren Theocracy soldiers, who had earlier butchered the villagers of Kaen Village like chickens and dogs, were now being slaughtered like ants before the Death Knight.

“How weak they are—is it because these soldiers are so feeble, or is this world just this weak?”

Arriving at Kaen Village, the Bone King and Yarbed watched the Death Knight slaughter the Siren soldiers, utterly unmoved, even commenting on the soldiers’ strength.

Having just been transported from the game into this world, Flying Mouse dared not be reckless; after disguising the Great Necropolis, his first priority was gathering information about this world.

After using the “Far Sight” spell to witness Kaen Village under siege, Flying Mouse, seeking intelligence, appeared here with Yarbed.

Arriving in a strange world, caution was inevitable; when encountering Siren soldiers disguised as Imperials, he did not strike directly but chose to use summoned minions to probe their strength.

But the outcome surprised him.

The people here were pathetically weak—a Death Knight with level 35 and only 25 attack power was utterly crushing the human armies of this world.

Facing the Death Knight’s mechanical slaughter, the invading Siren soldiers quickly broke mentally and began fleeing in panic.

One soldier, seemingly a noble youth of the Theocracy, suddenly collided with a figure clad in full white armor.

“Ding——————!”

The Death Knight’s order was to kill all invading soldiers; it made no pause for the new arrival, swinging its greatsword cleanly downward.

Yet this attack, which had effortlessly slaughtered Siren soldiers moments before, was now blocked—the figure before the Death Knight simply extended one finger and stopped the downward slash completely.

“Save me! I’ll give you plenty of gold…”

Seeing Shengzai effortlessly block the Death Knight’s strike, the Siren soldier saw salvation.

As he begged Shengzai for help and promised payment, his words were barely halfway out when Shengzai’s longblade slashed across his neck—blood sprayed, and his headless corpse collapsed into the pool of crimson.

“When you slaughtered the villagers, did you ever care about their pleas?”
