Chapter 62: First Summoning of a Spirit Servant!
The saying goes that if you don’t invite death, death won’t come—Shengzai had long jokingly called Kirigaya the “Guild-Crushing Holy Body.”
But ultimately, the reason the Moonlit Black Cat Guild was wiped out this time was largely because those yellow-haired fools had no sense of their own mortality.
“I know very well that if I just talk, you’ll all be deeply resentful.”
You wanted to prove your strength on Floor 28, didn’t you? Then go ahead—let the cruel truth soon show you just how foolish your actions have been.”
After unleashing his scathing tirade, Shengzai walked into the teleporter with a sense of relief, not even bothering to acknowledge Kirigaya and the others.
Kirigaya looked at the furious yet speechless Sasamaru and the others, unsure how to ease this awkward situation.
He’d originally come to recruit Shengzai as a powerhouse to ensure his teammates’ safety, but this guy had barely arrived before managing to offend every single member of the Moonlit Black Cat Guild.
After Shengzai’s verbal assault, Sasamaru and the others were in terrible moods and had lost all desire to explore the upper floors.
Just as they were about to turn back, a hand reached out from the teleporter, waving at them—and a voice that made Sasamaru’s teeth itch rang out: “What are you standing around for? Hurry up and follow, or are you already scared?”
Sasamaru and the others were young and hotheaded; faced with Shengzai’s blatant provocation, they couldn’t swallow their anger and without a word stepped into the teleporter.
With Sasamaru and the other two gone, Kirigaya and Yuki exchanged glances, then sighed and followed.
The environment of Floor 28 was the Wolf Prairie, meaning before reaching the dungeon area, they still had to cross a vast grassland.
The monsters on the prairie were around level 35—no challenge at all for Shengzai at level 46 and Kirigaya at level 48.
But among the Moonlit Black Cat Guild members, only Sasamaru, as a thief, had a relatively high level; the others struggled terribly even when fighting the monsters one-on-one.
To prove themselves, Sasamaru, Iron Xiong , and Daka Er formed a front squad while Shengzai walked alone behind them, each killing the monsters that attacked.
To make these fools face reality, Shengzai told Kirigaya not to secretly help them unless absolutely necessary.
At first, thanks to their teamwork and Yuki’s addition, Sasamaru’s group struggled but performed creditably.
But when a pack of hyenas appeared on the prairie, Sasamaru and the others—already exhausted—finally began to panic.
As their health bars drained steadily, their earlier confidence vanished, replaced by intense fear and unease.
Just as Sasamaru and the others could no longer bear the psychological pressure and saw the hyena pack growing larger, they pulled out their “Teleport Crystals” to flee—when suddenly, a figure flashed before them.
“Wenren Sword Style, Form One—Storm Fang!”
A slash like a gale split the hyena leaping toward them cleanly in two.
As the monster’s health bar instantly emptied, it dissolved into data fragments in midair.
After instantly killing that hyena, Shengzai didn’t stop—he kicked off the ground and lunged forward in a straight dash, driving his one-handed sword straight through another hyena’s belly, then charged alone into the hyena pack.
“Hey, are you insane?! That’s a hyena pack! Iron Xiong , Yuki, you two go ahead!”
“I can’t abandon him and run off myself—that’d make me exactly the coward and trash he called me.”
Though Shengzai’s earlier insults had made Sasamaru and the others despise him, the fact remained that he’d just saved them.
And as Shengzai had said, their predicament stemmed entirely from their own arrogance and overconfidence.
If he abandoned the man who’d just saved him, wouldn’t he be worse than trash?
Just as Sasamaru shoved the “Teleport Crystal” into Yuki’s hand and prepared to charge the hyena pack with a deathwish, Kirigaya suddenly grabbed his arm to stop him.
“Don’t worry—if it’s Shengzai, this is nothing.”
Sasamaru and the others didn’t understand Kirigaya’s meaning at first—but then they saw the commotion in the distance and were stunned by what lay before them.
Where the hyenas had gathered, each one was now flying backward, crashing to the ground and dissolving into data fragments—and Shengzai, once surrounded, reappeared in their line of sight.
“Wenren Sword Style, Form Three—Break the General!”
Swordlight flowed like drifting clouds, and Shengzai, facing the massive hyena pack, looked like a battle god.
He dodged every attack with agile movements while his one-handed sword dispatched each charging hyena with a single strike!
“Spirit Summoning: Azure Dragon—Weihuo Hu!”
Seeing the sheer number of monsters, Shengzai realized it would be too time-consuming to kill them all alone.
He remembered the power he’d just gained—this was the perfect chance to test it. A faint smile curled his lips as he swiftly traced patterns in the air with his free hand.
A massive ritual array formed instantly at his fingertips, then a pillar of fire erupted skyward—and from the flames burst a magnificent, flame-tailed striped tiger!
At the sight of the giant flaming tiger, even Kirigaya was startled—not just the Moonlit Black Cat Guild members.
Thinking it was a wild boss invading, he immediately drew his back-mounted one-handed sword, ready to join the fight.
This was no longer a time to hide his level or strength—even someone as powerful as Shengzai couldn’t defeat both the hyena pack and this wild boss simultaneously.
His earlier deception of the Moonlit Black Cat Guild might earn him their curses and blame, but compared to Shengzai’s current danger, it meant nothing.
“Roar——————!”
But just as Kirigaya prepared to rush forward, he realized the flaming tiger hadn’t attacked Shengzai—it had swiped its claws and smashed the nearby hyenas into fragments.
“Kirigaya-kun, that flaming tiger that just appeared—it’s not a monster. Its health bar is green.”
Hearing Yuki’s warning, Kirigaya stared in shock at Weihuo Hu—and finally realized, astonished, that the flaming tiger was truly an ally.
