Chapter 240: Interview Program

~7 min read 1,324 words

Jiang Heng simply isn't in the country at the moment.

First, he doesn't like the cold winter; second, he has no family.

It's the Spring Festival back home, and staying alone in his mansion makes him feel lonely!

He might as well go to Sydney for a holiday to relax, with Megan Fox keeping him company, occasionally hitting the beach—it's wonderfully pleasant.

However, good days are always short.

Megan has to go back to Haolaiwu to film, and Jiang Heng also has to return home for interviews; there's no way around it, the calls are blowing up, each one more important than the last.

Moreover, staying out of sight isn't an option; if he doesn't show up, entertainment reporters will start spreading rumors!

In fact, tabloids have already started rumors, saying Jiang Heng is skiing in Switzerland with a certain domestic star.

These days, people in China have an extreme bias toward Western countries; they think feeding pigeons in Paris or skiing in Switzerland is very classy and prestigious, so rumors about Jiang Heng gravitate toward that.

Yet few know that Jiang Heng has hardly been to Europe these years, and his trips to Paris can be counted on one hand.

Not only is he unimpressed by Paris, he also has no fondness for European luxury goods.

He feels those things are only good for telling others "I'm rich," with no real practical value.

The problem is Jiang Heng doesn't need to tell anyone he's rich—a single film grossed over ten billion dollars worldwide, with most of the funding coming from him; just think how much money he must have.

There's absolutely no need to flaunt his status with luxury goods!

Moreover, he usually tries to be a bit modest, saying he actually hasn't made that much.

The kicker is that the host turned out to be Chen Luyu, who bluntly said, "I don't believe it!"

Jiang Heng stayed silent, and Chen Luyu asked again, "Then how little is 'not much'?"

"That's company confidential—I can't talk about it!"

"Why not?"

"Because the company is going public—once it does, the financial reports will be disclosed, and I can't reveal anything beforehand!"

"Wow, your company's stock will be snapped up when that happens!"

Jiang Heng felt her eyes light up, and he smiled, saying, "Maybe, hard to say—after all, making movies involves both gains and losses, and the risk is higher than with regular companies."

"No way, you'll keep making money!"

"Why do you say that?"

"Because I think you'll keep making money!" Chen Luyu said confidently.

Jiang Heng felt both amused and exasperated, really unable to fathom how her mind works.

"Thanks, thanks for your faith!"

"See, you believe me too, right? I'll buy your company's stock when the time comes!"

"Well, the stock market is risky; investing requires caution, so I wouldn't really recommend it!"

"I understand, but the market's really hot right now—you've made so much money, haven't you thought about putting it into stocks?"

Jiang Heng laughed and shook his head, "Let's just talk about movies!"

Chen Luyu was a bit unwilling, but since the words "money" and "stock market" are indeed sensitive, after a moment's hesitation he steered the conversation back to movies.

"Of all the films you've made, which one are you most satisfied with?"

"The Lion Camel Ridge!"

"It's indeed great, but why that one? The Matrix and Inception are also great!"

"More emotion went into it!"

"Hmm, I've read some reviews saying that film is full of metaphors—too bad I haven't seen it on the big screen."

Jiang Heng smiled and said, "There will be a chance!"

Chen Luyu pondered, "Should it be re-released? Even though it's good, not many people would go see it."

Jiang Heng said, "It definitely won't be a simple re-release; there will be something new for everyone!"

Chen Luyu's eyes lit up again, "New plot? But that story is already complete!"

Jiang Heng laughed, "This still needs to stay under wraps!"

Chen Luyu, hearing that, felt a bit down and casually asked, "Director Jiang, do you currently have a girlfriend?"

"Not yet! (Not even domestically!)"

"What's the reason you haven't found one? Are you averse to women?"

"Of course not!"

"With your qualifications, you shouldn't be lacking—lots of girls would like you!"

Jiang Heng laughed, "Really?"

Chen Luyu nodded, "Of course, I think there will be many!"

"I think what you're saying makes some sense!"

"Right, but you've never had one, which makes people think it's a bit strange!"

Jiang Heng burst out laughing, "This is actually the first time someone's said that to me!"

"That's because others don't dare tell you the truth!"

Jiang Heng said, "Maybe!"

"Then what do you like?"

"Someone optimistic and outgoing!"

"Why focus on personality?"

"Because I'm not optimistic enough—I want to find a partner full of positive energy!"

Chen Luyu, hearing that, murmured, "Positive energy—what a great term!"

"Haha, I feel the same way!"

The two of them had such an aimless conversation; after the recording, Chen Lu Yu stood up, shook hands, and said, 'Thank you, Director Jiang, for your strong cooperation and support. I hope your film continues to be a box‑office hit in the days to come!'

Jiang Heng laughed and said, 'Then I'll take your kind words!'

The recording of Lu Yu's Date took place in Jingcheng; after the event, Jiang Heng drove back to the Outstanding Rising Film Company.

Boss Du Huan came over, smiling, and asked, 'How did the recording go?'

'Let's just make do—say what you can, and for what you can't, I have nothing to say!'

'Still, the boss is imposing!'

Jiang Heng laughed, 'What imposing aura? I was just bombarded with a bunch of weird questions.'

Du Huan said, 'That's how interview shows are—let alone her, she's just like that!'

Jiang Heng gave a slight nod; as for Chen Lu Yu, he didn't want to comment further.

While they were chatting idly, the secretary came over to report that Jing Tian had arrived.

Du Huan hurriedly said, 'Then I'll head back first!'

Jiang Heng didn't detain him, and not long after, Da Tian Tian walked in wearing a light-colored wool coat and sunglasses.

'Aren't you afraid of falling?' Jiang Heng laughed and said.

'Definitely not—I'm being very careful!'

'You've been dissatisfied lately?'

'Busy, definitely busy! But no matter how busy, I had to come over—it's been so long since we last saw each other, and you actually stayed abroad without coming back; I was even thinking of asking you to join me at Yonghe Temple during the New Year!'

Jiang Heng laughed, 'What, you want to go ask for something?'

'Of course—I have so many things to pray for, but you weren't there; is the outside world really that fun?'

Jiang Heng gave a slight nod, 'It's fine—I was just too busy before, so I needed to rest and relax properly.'

Jing Tian sighed, 'That's true—you were busy filming, it was exhausting; you really should rest properly. How about we go on a self‑drive trip together?'

Jiang Heng hurriedly waved his hand and laughed, 'No, otherwise people will say I'm kidnapping a little girl!'

Jing Tian was unhappy, her lips pouting high.

Jiang Heng explained, 'It's because I have to start filming a new movie on my end!'

Jing Tian's pretty eyes widened, 'That fast?'

Jiang Heng nodded, 'Exactly!'

'You really are a workaholic!' Da Tian Tian didn't know how to evaluate it—she had never seen anyone work so hard.

Jiang Heng said, 'It's mainly because some people's schedules are already set, so of course we have to film according to the plan!'

Jing Tian's eyes widened instantly, 'Why didn't you discuss it with me?'

She immediately pleaded pitifully, 'It's over—I don't even get a cameo role anymore!'

Seeing this, Jiang Heng couldn't help but tap her on the head, 'All you do is skip class and run around—what's there to discuss about schedules?'
