Chapter 423: Pangu True Form Breaks the Heavenly Court
Di Jiang is described in the *Shan Hai Jing* as: there is a divine bird, its form like a yellow sac, red as cinnabar fire, six legs and four wings, a vague faceless being, knows song and dance, and it is none other than Di Jiang.
The film's depiction of Di Jiang's appearance follows the description in *Fo Ben Shi Dao*: a human face on a bird's body, six bird claws, four fleshy wings, the whole covered in red scales, making viewers shiver with dread.
Fortunately, at the moment of landing, he had already transformed into human form, and his actor is the veteran performer Wang Huichun.
He steps forward, pinches Hou Yi's mouth open, flicks his finger lightly, and a pea‑sized blood bead slips into Hou Yi's mouth.
Hou Yi, whose complexion was originally pale and near death, instantly flushes with red light, rolls over, kneels and thanks, saying thanks to Di Jiang the Ancestor Shaman.
Di Jiang says that Hou Yi's life force has been excessively depleted, damaging his foundation; without a few thousand years of recuperation he cannot recover. He then asks why it has come to this.
Hou Yi begins recounting, starting with his battle against He Bo, then Chang'e's suicide, after which he, in anger, shot nine golden crows.
Later, escorted by the Nine Phoenixes, he went to the Western Queen Mother of Kunlun Mountain to obtain a spirit pill and revive Chang'e.
Subsequently he was wanted by the Heavenly Court, and he and Chang'e fled and hid everywhere.
These accounts also intermix the Heavenly Court's oppression and slaughter of the Shaman tribe.
Di Jiang, hearing this, becomes incensed and says, "Eastern Emperor's brat, you have gravely wronged my Shaman tribe; you shall repay blood for blood!"
Having spoken, he reveals his true form, grabs Hou Yi with one claw, Chang'e with the other, flaps his wings, and in a flash of wind and lightning he reaches the foot of Mount Buzhou.
"Di Jiang Ancestor Shaman, what is this?" asks the lowered Hou Yi.
"Raise the full strength of our Shaman tribe and strike the Heavenly Court!"
"Right, overthrow the Eastern Emperor's brat, seize his bird throne, and we'll take turns ringing the Celestial Emperor!"
A voice comes from above; Hou Yi and Chang'e look up and see several beams of differently colored light flying from the distant sky.
They descend around them and, at the moment of landing, turn into human shape.
The speaker is Qiang Liang, the Thunder Ancestor Shaman, portrayed by Zhao Xiaorui.
The audience watches, most can't help but laugh; some say, "It's Li Kui time‑traveling to the primordial wild!"
At the same time, a keen viewer notices that the film constantly highlights the 'Twelve Ancestor Shamans', yet only ten are present.
Fortunately, their dialogue explains the shortage: Gong Gong and Zhu Rong both perished in that great battle of the past.
Now only ten Ancestor Shamans face the Heavenly Court, with no clear advantage.
But the Shaman tribe's nature is impulsive and hot‑tempered; even without an obvious edge, they know they're outmatched by the demonic Heavenly Court, yet they still choose to fight.
Thus the Ancestor Shamans immediately summon the remaining Great Shamans for a total mobilization; even if they fight to the last, they will annihilate the demonic Heavenly Court.
One could say that once the plot reaches this point, the remaining story is about treating life and death lightly—if you disagree, just fight.
A guest glances at the watch on their wrist, feeling the buildup seems a bit short.
But considering merging it with *Honghuang: Hou Yi Shoots the Sun*, the buildup to this point is about right; otherwise the Ancestor Shamans' battle with the Heavenly Court would be too brief.
As for the plan, there is none. Yet ten Ancestor Shamans lead a host of Great Shamans and tens of thousands of elite tribe members, charging straight at the Southern Heavenly Gate.
Donghuang Taiyi, portrayed by Zou Zhaolong, also leads the demon deities Shang Yang, Lu Wu, Ji Meng, Ying Zhao, Bai Ze, Qin Yuan, Gui Che, Jiuying, Qing Niu and others—totaling 365—each wielding a Celestial Star Banner, forming the Celestial Star Array and projecting a celestial star illusion to confront the Shaman army.
Additionally, Xi He presides over an incomplete 'Mixed Origin He Luo Great Array', which manifests the geography of the primordial continent, capable of moving mountains, parting seas, turning land into rivers; any Shaman soldier caught inside becomes lost, crushed by mountains, swallowed by rivers, its power equally formidable.
As for the Shaman tribe, the response is simpler: they deploy the 'Twelve Capital Heavenly Deity Fiend Great Array', summon the Pangu True Form, foot on the Southern Heavenly Gate, axe cleaving the Lingxiao Hall; regardless of the Celestial Star Array or Mixed Origin He Luo, three axes descend, chopping countless demon generals maintaining the formations, blood spraying wildly…
One could say the battle's visual effects are maxed out, leaving the audience entranced, exclaiming that the budget is on fire.
When the Celestial Star Array is violently shattered by the Pangu True Form, countless planet‑like phantoms drift into the deep starry void.
Many also fall onto the primordial land, like meteors striking Earth, breaking the continent into four large plates, later known as the 'Four Continental Regions'.
Hou Yi and Chang'e, both archers in this battle, were never in the front line; when a chunk of the continent is blasted high into the air, they both fly up together.
As the continent's "debris" soars above the Southern Heavenly Gate, the two unleash a volley of chain arrows, harvesting many wounded great demons.
Because the Pangu True Form is overwhelmingly fierce, it not only shatters the Celestial Star and Mixed Origin He Luo arrays in succession, but also drains a host of Ancestor Shamans, nine of whom collapse from exhaustion.
Only one Hou Tu Empress survives, having fallen onto the primordial land. As for seeing through everything and becoming the six‑path reincarnation, that is a story for later.
The Shaman tribe suffers heavy casualties, and the demon tribe similarly; countless demon soldiers and generals, when the Pangu True Form collapses the two great arrays, turn into blood mist, leaving no corpse behind.
Even the ancient demon gods fare no better; some are drained by the arrays, reduced to shells, while others fall into the shattered primordial continent, their fate unknown.
Some remnants lingering in the Heavenly Court, bloodied, are harvested by Hou Yi and Chang'e.
Donghuang Taiyi, who escaped disaster thanks to the Chaos Bell, sees the scene and, as foes meeting, his eyes flare with rage.
He rises to charge toward the "debris" of the primordial continent where Hou Yi and Chang'e are, but Great Shaman Xing Tian leaps out.
He brandishes a massive axe, laughing, "Eastern Emperor old man, give me the Celestial Emperor's seat, or I'll chop you down; no, whether you yield or not, I'll still cut you!" He then thrusts the axe forward.
Donghuang Taiyi roars in anger, "How dare you covet the Celestial Emperor's throne?"
Having spoken, he strikes the Chaos Bell; Xing Tian, who had surged forward, is instantly immobilized, and Donghuang Taiyi swings his long sword, cleaving off Xing Tian's head.
"Whoa, how tragic!"
"Xing Tian dances the war‑axe; his fierce will remains ever steadfast!"
"Xiao Ming Ge performed well!"
Guest seat's Huang Xiaoming, arm in arm with Yang Tianbao, smiles shyly.
He, as Xing Tian, exists solely to highlight Hou Yi! Yet when the primordial continent's debris—i. e., the future Moon's Hou Yi and Chang'e—are frozen for a few seconds by the ringing of the Chaos Bell, they immediately notch bows and fire arrows at Donghuang Taiyi, but they can no longer save Xing Tian! Donghuang Taiyi, using the Chaos Bell, withstands Hou Yi and Chang'e's arrows, and, enraged, says, "Even you two dare to contend with me? Today I will take your lives!" With that, he leaps toward the 'Moon' side.
Seeing this, Chang'e feels a bit frightened and suggests, "Shall we dodge for a moment?"
Hou Yi says, "Now the Ancestor Shamans have all fallen in battle, and few Great Shamans survive; if we do not kill him today, he will surely destroy our Shaman tribe in the future!" (End of chapter)
