Chapter 133: You Must Save My Son

~4 min read 657 words

The next day.

Shi Shi was at home pondering what to do, when a frantic shout from the front gate came from Liu Sanjin: "Auntie, auntie, are you home?"

Liu Sanjin was Yun Tian's friend, so Shi Shi naturally knew him.

He heard his shout so urgent.

Shi Shi hurried out and opened the door, and upon seeing many bloodstains on Liu Sanjin, she was startled: "Sanjin, what—what's wrong with you?"

"Auntie, Tian Ge is in trouble."

Liu Sanjin was actually not much younger than Yun Tian, but he liked calling him that.

"What!"

Shi Shi seized Liu Sanjin's arm and asked, "Tian'er, what's wrong? Speak!"

Liu Sanjin sighed and said, "Today Tian Ge and the others went out to investigate a case, and we never expected to encounter a huge rolling stone. The stone was enormous, and Tian Ge couldn't dodge it in time, getting crushed against his legs. When we pulled him out, his flesh was a bloody mess…"

He hadn't finished.

Shi Shi, agitated, asked, "Where is he?"

"Auntie, don't get worked up; I'll take you there."

The ox-drawn cart Liu Sanjin had been riding was waiting on the side; he led Shi Shi toward it, and after boarding they headed straight for the Spring Breeze Hall.

When they arrived, the doctor happened to emerge from the room where Yun Tian was.

"Doctor, how is Tian Ge?"

A few yamen clerks waiting outside stepped forward to ask.

The senior doctor shook his head: "I've already done all I can. I can't say for sure about his leg; if it doesn't recover, he may never be able to walk again."

Her son is a Constable Head; if he can't walk, how could he continue as a Constable Head?

Shi Shi, excited, ran over and said, "Doctor, you must save my son. His leg can't be harmed; if something happens to it, what will I do afterward?"

"Calm down; there's still a glimmer of hope right now."

The senior doctor soothed Shi Shi with a few words and hurried away.

Liu Sanjin sent the other yamen clerks back to the Yamen, and stayed here with Shi Shi to wait for Yun Tian to wake up.

After about two quarter-hours, Yun Tian woke up, learned his leg injury was serious, and became extremely agitated: "Sanjin, you really didn't lie to me—can my leg truly walk again?"

"Tian Ge, you're my brother; how could I deceive you? Just lie down and rest."

Liu Sanjin said from beside him.

"Exactly, lie down quickly."

Shi Shi helped Yun Tian lie down.

Shortly after lying down, Yun Tian clutched Liu Sanjin's arm and said, "Sanjin, don't tell Qiao Sheng about my injury; if she finds out she'll worry about me."

If he didn't know it was a performance, he probably would have believed it.

Liu Sanjin whispered, "Tian Ge, I've already sent someone to inform Qiao Sheng; she probably knows by now."

Yun Tian's eyes drooped, and he fell silent.

Liu Sanjin apologetically said, "Tian Ge, don't be angry with me. I was just thinking that since you're injured, I should have her come to see you; I didn't think it through."

"It's fine."

Yun Tian's words had just finished.

Qiao Sheng's voice came from outside: "Yun Tian, where are you?"

That bitch came fast enough.

Shi Shi cursed inwardly.

Yun Tian frowned, hesitated a moment, then said, "Sanjin, go bring her in."

In a short while.

Qiao Sheng was brought in by Liu Sanjin; her gaze fell on Yun Tian's leg, and she asked excitedly, "Yun Tian, your—your leg…"

"I'm fine, I don't feel pain; don't worry."

Yun Tian replied.

Qiao Sheng frowned and asked, "Can you still walk?"

Damn!

She's worried that her own son can't walk, that it would become a burden to her?

Shi Shi shouted at Qiao Sheng, "What are you saying? If my son can't walk, are you refusing to marry him?"
