Chapter 267: I Want to Marry You, Will You?
267. Chapter 267 I Want to Marry You, Will You?
Tian Cuifen's face instantly darkened.
Ji Fan didn't have time to worry about propriety between men and women; he lunged forward and covered You Caidie's mouth—if the other villagers heard this, what would they think?
He feared even jumping into the Huang He wouldn't wash it clean.
Tian Cuifen looked at Ji Xue and snapped, "Xiao Xue, what are you doing just standing there? Hurry over and help your brother!"
With their help.
Ji Fan released You Caidie.
Tian Cuifen couldn't bother with Ji Fan now; she called Ji Xue to come with her, taking the bound and gagged You Caidie, tidied her clothes, and sent her back.
After they left, Ji Fan doused himself with several buckets of cold water; when that still didn't work, he took a cold-water bath.
That's it.
Ji Fan hadn't even made it to the next day before he came down with a high fever—after all, the weather had turned cold, his constitution was weaker than average, and he couldn't withstand such an ordeal.
Three days passed.
Only then did Ji Fan recover.
During those three days he didn't go to the academy.
Qiao Lihua didn't know about this; she only knew that Ji Fan hadn't come to see her for those three days, whereas before he had almost stopped by their shop every other day.
She was just about to tell Qiao Sheng to send someone to check on him.
Ji Fan arrived.
Upon seeing him, Qiao Lihua noticed he had grown thinner than before; she couldn't help but ask, "Ji Fan, what happened to you? You look much thinner than before."
Ji Fan gave a faint smile and said, "I caught a chill a few days ago, but I'm fine now—you don't need to worry, I'm all right."
Upon hearing that, Qiao Hushui and the others all came over to greet him and invite him to sit.
They chatted for a few moments.
Qiao Hushui and the others set to work preparing some food for Ji Fan.
Ji Fan had originally not wanted them to do that.
Qiao Hushui and the others insisted, and since he couldn't dissuade them, he let them have their way.
They finished making the food.
Qiao Hushui and the others then stopped disturbing Ji Fan and Qiao Lihua's conversation, stepping out to the backyard.
Since it was now afternoon,
the shop had no customers eating.
Qiao Lihua then closed the door, walked over to sit opposite Ji Fan, and said, "You look like you've only just recovered; don't run around—rest and heal first. Besides, you came today; if you hadn't, I would have sent my sister to check on you."
Ji Fan gave a faint smile and said, "Just seeing you makes me feel much better."
Qiao Lihua's face flushed red.
Ji Fan didn't want Qiao Lihua to be upset, so he didn't tell her what his sister had done; he chatted with her for a good while before heading to the academy.
Qiao Ji Restaurant.
Shi Qi arrived on horseback, first finding a place to tether his horse, then after securing it, he strode straight to the restaurant.
At that moment, Qiao Sheng was sitting and chatting with Chun Xue and the others.
Suddenly he saw him enter.
Qiao Sheng stood up: "Shi Qi, you're here—is there something you need?"
"Qiao Sheng, I have something to say to you."
Having said that, Shi Qi turned and walked out.
Qiao Sheng looked bewildered—what did he want to tell her? Though puzzled, she still followed him outside.
They went to a secluded corner where no one was around.
Shi Qi stared directly at Qiao Sheng and said, "Qiao Sheng, I… I want to marry you. Will you?"
Qiao Sheng: "!"
She couldn't have misheard, could she!
Shi Qi took in her reaction and said, "You didn't mishear."
"I'm not willing."
Qiao Sheng hesitated not at all.
Shi Qi, bewildered, asked, "What's wrong with me? Or do you like Shi Lin? Don't you know he has a fiancée?"
"What!"
Qiao Sheng stared at him, shocked.
Shi Qi told her what had happened before.
Qiao Sheng's hand clenched instantly—Shi Lin that bastard, actually deceiving her, having a fiancée yet still coming on to her!
