Chapter 96: with translation of chapter title
Shi Lin, upon seeing Feng Qingyang like that, knew that his own nephew's desire to study under him would not be easy.
He said with a laugh, "Grandpa Feng, it's been a long time since I've seen you, old man, and you still look as handsome as before; truly you are the Imperial Capital's original number one handsome man."
"You're good at talking, but am I, Grandpa Feng, really that easy to be fooled?"
After Feng Qingyang finished speaking, he had Na Lan Ruo Lan take Shi Jin to wander around.
He looked at Shi Lin and said, "How did you come up with the idea of sending your nephew to me?"
"My second brother…"
Shi Lin began to speak.
Feng Qingyang interrupted him, "Do you think I would believe it?"
Does the stinky kid think he's that easy to deceive?
Shi Lin chuckled and said, "Grandpa Feng, you are truly clever, seeing through it so quickly. Very well, to be honest, I was the one who suggested sending him to you."
Seeing that Feng Qingyang remained silent, he kept staring at him.
Shi Lin knew that if he didn't make things clear today, it would be problematic, so he had to speak plainly.
"My nephew is lively and restless, disobedient to discipline. The teachers who tried to teach him at home were driven away by him countless times. My second brother and the others, seeing that this wasn't working, sent him to an external academy, but that still failed. Then they sent him to the Imperial Academy, yet even the professors there couldn't handle him; several were nearly driven to tears by his antics…"
Feng Qingyang: "…"
He really does hold him in high regard.
They have no way to handle this chaos‑making demon king, and he thinks he has a way?
Shi Lin continued, "Grandpa Feng, I don't wish to trouble you, but my nephew is truly clever—just clever in the wrong way. Aren't you devoted to helping the court cultivate talent? I think you could try to reform my nephew; if it truly doesn't work, I'll think of another solution."
"Where does he live?"
Feng Qingyang's words amounted to accepting Shi Jin.
Shi Lin stepped forward and said, "This is my thought: for your convenience in managing him, his meals and lodging would be here with you. As for money, I will send someone each month to deliver it to you. If he misbehaves, feel free to discipline him. Neither I nor his parents will object."
"Alright, you may leave!"
Feng Qingyang said expressionlessly.
So quickly?
How's that, you regret it? You can still regret it now!
"No, I'm leaving right now!"
Shi Lin left and had An San drive the carriage to Qiaojia Cun.
An San is mute; he can hear but cannot speak. After the carriage had traveled a stretch, he wrote a note to Shi Lin, confirming they hadn't gone the wrong way, before resuming the drive.
They arrived at the village entrance.
Shi Lin told An San to wait here while he flew alone toward the Mountain God Temple, but upon reaching the place the main gate was locked and he saw no sign of Qiao Sheng and the others.
Where are they?
Shi Lin searched around but still couldn't find them. Just as he was about to leave, Zhang Qiao spotted him and said, "Young master, what are you looking for around the Mountain God Temple?"
"I'm looking for Qiao Sheng and Xiao Shitou; do you know where they are?"
Shi Lin, while sizing up Zhang Qiao, asked.
She came from one side; she must be a villager from Qiao Sheng's village.
Zhang Qiao didn't recognize Shi Lin and asked with a wary expression, "What are you looking for them for?"
"I have some business with them."
Shi Lin replied.
Zhang Qiao gave a short acknowledgment, said she didn't know where Qiao Sheng and the others had gone and left, but soon after she went to Qiaojia to look for Lan Yue Niang.
Lan Yue Niang had previously gone with Qiao Lihua and the others to the town restaurant to help Qiao Sheng, but she hadn't felt well these past two days and stayed at home.
"Zhang Qiao, thank you, I understand. I'll go take a look later."
