Chapter 22: Damaged Alloy Battle Sword

~7 min read 1,214 words

As for spears, although they are the king of weapons and excel at breaking formations to kill enemies, Lu Jing doesn't consider them because they're too inconvenient to carry.

In the northwest area of the first floor of the Martial Hall, weapons flashing with a cold gleam were hung on the racks.

Many Martial Artists were stationed around, stricter than a bank's security.

"They all seem to be alloy weapons…"

Lu Jing looked around; the weapons here were varied, and for a moment he couldn't find where the knives were displayed.

He gave a quick glance; the weapon prices were absurdly high.

For example, a pair of alloy gauntlets sold for 150,000 per set.

Wearable armor even reached 300,000!

"Tsk tsk, making knives is simpler, so they should be cheaper."

Lu Jing harbored a hopeful mindset; although he'd earned some money recently, it still seemed insufficient to forge a weapon.

He walked to another shelf and discovered neatly arranged battle swords.

"Alloy battle sword, 400,000 each?"

Lu Jing swallowed, realizing he could only afford three of them with all his possessions.

"How about buying a few kitchen knives from the market to try forging?"

Lu Jing's eyes lit up; he thought of the cheapest method.

Since they all need to be forged, there's no need to buy such finished swords.

For instance, buying two rusted iron swords can still be forged into a sharp iron sword.

Lu Jing calculated that the most important factor in forging is the material; craftsmanship and appearance hardly mattered.

Dan Medicine, if the production fails, isn't considered Dan Medicine, but weapons are different; even a low‑quality knife can still wound.

So Lu Jing turned to a staff member and asked, "Excuse me, do you have any semi‑finished long swords?"

"Semi‑finished?" the Martial Hall staff member blinked slightly. "The warehouse does have some defective pieces, but they're generally not sold to the public."

Lu Jing frowned, about to think of another plan, when Director Zhang Qingyang's voice came from nearby.

"Lu Jing, we've agreed to the conditions you just mentioned; as for those defective items in the warehouse, take them if you want."

"Alright, then I can join the Martial Hall."

Lu Jing nodded.

This meant Tianyi Martial Hall could use his name for promotion, at the cost of a fixed 10,000‑yuan monthly subsidy and a 30% discount on everything.

Lu Jing felt the deal was a sure profit; after all it was just a name, and he could quit anytime.

The Martial Hall's massive influence meant its reputation was still solid.

"Good, just agree!"

Zhang Qingyang instantly broke into a delighted smile; just now he had received Lu Jing's assessment results from the Martial Arts Association.

The leadership instructed him that, regardless of the cost, Lu Jing must be retained.

Missing this chance, once Lu Jing's name spread throughout Anwu City, the price would no longer be this low.

Zhang Qingyang waved his hand, signaling a staff member to guide them, "Come, Lu Jing, I'll take you to the back warehouse for a look."

Entering through the Martial Hall's back door, they walked along a cobblestone path; occasionally, young people in sturdy outfits were seen punching and training.

Soon, Lu Jing followed Zhang Qingyang to a heavily guarded building.

Zhang Qingyang held up a token before the guards.

After a while, the first‑floor door opened slowly.

"Come, keep up with me."

Zhang Qingyang turned back to Lu Jing, said, then stepped inside.

Lu Jing, like a curious child, hurried to keep up.

After entering, his view was blank, and the door behind him vanished.

When he came to his senses again, Lu Jing found himself inside a massive warehouse.

The wondrous scene didn't catch his attention; instead, he was drawn to the dazzling array of materials before him.

The first floor of the warehouse was extremely spacious, stretching beyond sight.

Various shelves displayed exotic plants and mineral treasures.

Lu Jing recognized most of these items; he had never seen them before.

But the massive energy emanating from these treasures told Lu Jing they were no ordinary items.

"The first floor of our warehouse mainly stores materials and herbs; the long swords you want are here too. Though these swords are broken or shattered, the alloy used for the blades can be recycled."

Zhang Qingyang hinted at something, saying he'd give them to Lu Jing, yet still emphasized their value.

Lu Jing naturally understood, nodded and smiled, "Thanks a lot, Director Zhang."

"Not at all, it's a trivial effort," Zhang Qingyang waved his hand, "Lu Jing, follow me here; everything you need is right here."

After walking around with Zhang Qingyang again, they stopped at a pile of scrap copper and rusted iron.

"Pick for yourself; most of these long swords have cracks from use, some are discarded second‑hand, but the material is solid and made of premium alloy."

Lu Jing nodded and began selecting.

Since they didn't specify how many to give, taking a bit more shouldn't be an issue.

After more than half an hour, eight cobbled‑together long swords lay on the empty space beside Lu Jing.

"Director Zhang, I'm done picking, these will do."

"That many?"

Zhang Qingyang was slightly startled; though puzzled, he didn't ask Lu Jing why he wanted those broken swords.

He probably has some sort of collecting habit.

He waved his hand generously and said, "Alright, I'll have someone from the hall deliver it to your home later, Lu Jing—do you have any other requests?"

"Nothing more, thank you, Hall Director. It's getting late—I should head back now."

Lu Jing bade farewell to Zhang Qingyang, turned, and left the martial hall.

Not long after, Lu Jing had just arrived home when the delivery personnel from the martial hall also showed up.

Lu Jing dragged a large bundle of broken sword pieces into his room, then closed the bedroom door.

"Huuu..."

He opened the bag, seeing the scattered fragments inside, and Lu Jing couldn't help but feel a headache.

"Before synthesizing, I still need to piece these swords together properly... I'll just use tape."

Saying it, he did it—Lu Jing used tape to tightly wrap the eight swords.

"Let's try synthesizing first; I don't know if thirty Colorless Crystal Blocks will be enough."

Lu Jing opened the synthesis slot and placed two swords inside.

【Damaged Long Sword】: A long sword that has suffered extensive damage, broken in battle, now covered in rust spots; its attacks can inflict tetanus.

【Damaged Long Sword ×2, synthesis requires 2 Colorless Crystal Blocks!】

"Synthesize!"

"Sizzle~"

As the steam dissipated, a long sword flashing with cold light appeared in Lu Jing's hand.

【Synthesis complete, consumed 2 Colorless Crystal Blocks, obtained Battle-Damaged Alloy Long Sword!】

【Battle-Damaged Alloy Long Sword】: An excellent weapon made from modern alloy, with extremely high toughness and hardness, but the blade is covered in cracks, as if it will shatter on the next impact.

"How come after synthesizing it still looks like it could break at any moment?"

Lu Jing picked up the alloy sword and gave it a heft; he liked its appearance, and upon closer inspection the blade was wrapped in a material resembling carbon fiber.

Unfortunately, the blade is covered in cracks; while it won't fall apart, it also doesn't look fit for combat.
