Chapter 324: Lieutenant Lu
Lu Jing surged forward, wrapped in soaring murderous light, his aura comparable to that of a bloodthirsty level-ten aberrant beast.
As he continually approached, the soldiers along the way all changed expression, their pupils constricted slightly, and they retreated backward.
Even Guan Yuanbai was startled, quickly circulating his vigorous energy to form a vigorous energy shield on his body surface.
Whoosh—
A bitter gust blew against the vigorous energy, producing a sound like a blade cutting.
"Lord Seat!"
Lu Jing grinned, revealing his white teeth, and gave a military salute to Situjun.
"Good!"
Situjun's face flushed red; the moment he saw Lu Jing perform the military salute, his fatigue vanished.
"Great kid! You came just in time!"
Outside the Cave.
Military dormitory.
Situjun specially arranged a single room for Lu Jing, with all kinds of facilities complete.
"How is it? Not bad, right? I specially saved this room for you."
Situjun picked up a disposable paper cup from the table, went to the water dispenser, filled it with water, and handed it to Lu Jing.
"Not bad, to have such conditions on the front line is indeed beyond my expectation; thank you, Lord Seat, for your trouble."
Lu Jing smiled, took the cup, and drank it all in one gulp.
"What do you mean thank me? You saved a large number of my soldiers' lives today; I should be thanking you!"
Situjun waved his hand, sighed, and said: "On the front line, a large number of level-eight and level-nine aberrant beasts suddenly surged; if you hadn't arrived in time, at least half of the soldiers on the eastern defense line would have died..."
In Situjun's view, being able to block these aberrant beasts even with half casualties is already not bad; the ones surely bearing the brunt are Dong Ningxue and Zhu Xingyao.
"By the way, after we leave, will the Cave be okay?"
Lu Jing was somewhat worried about the front line situation.
"It's fine; the aberrant beasts' attacks come in batches, this batch has been completely wiped out, and there will be a gap of about a day in between."
Situjun explained to Lu Jing: "During the gap, only some low-level aberrant beasts will appear, posing no threat."
Lu Jing nodded.
It seems the aberrant beasts inside the Cave are not endless.
It seemed he had noticed Lu Jing's doubt; Situjun thought and then said: "When the Cave first appeared, it was the period of most intense aberrant beast attacks; as long as you get through it, things will become much easier later."
Afterwards, he added: "Right, those aberrant beasts you killed on the front line today, I had people tally them up; they will all be converted into military points and credited to your account."
These military points are not much different from the credits of Martial University, and can be exchanged in the military for some cultivation resources or equipment...
"Hmm, understood."
Lu Jing smiled; whether or not killing aberrant beasts yields military points doesn't matter to him; what he cares most about is the crystal chunks dropped after slaying aberrant beasts.
The reason he went on a killing spree today is mainly because these aberrant beasts drop red crystal chunks when they die.
Not every one has them, but accumulated, there are over thirty.
"Alright, I won't disturb you anymore; you've just arrived, so take your time to get used to it," Situjun walked toward the door, "I'm leaving; get some rest."
Suddenly, he slapped his forehead, remembering something: "Almost forgot, I'll have someone deliver your military uniform tomorrow,"
Lu Jing responded with an acknowledgement, seeing Situjun out of the room.
He possesses the Immovable King Sutra, his stamina is nearly inexhaustible; today's battle is nothing to him.
Others, however, couldn't do that—including Dong Ningxue and Zhu Xingyao—each was on the verge of collapsing from exhaustion.
Even Situjun of the Martial Lord Realm was physically and mentally exhausted.
After Situjun left, Lu Jing looked at the somewhat empty room, took out some daily necessities from his ring, and simply tidied it up.
Then he spread-eagled and flung himself onto the comfortable large bed.
"Gurgle—"
Lu Jing rubbed his stomach: "I haven't had dinner yet, I'm a bit hungry..."
Leaving the dormitory area, Lu Jing extended his mental strength outward.
After some exploration, he found that this place is not far from where he first met Lu Xin yuan and a few others.
Lu Jing didn't go directly to look for food; instead, he strolled around casually, feeling the different vibe of life here compared to an ordinary city.
As he passed a restaurant, the boss, with a beaming spring-like face, was bragging to his assistant.
"Let me tell you, my little shop has chains all over the nationwide Cave commercial district!"
"Real or fake, isn't it said that shops here are hard to come by?"
"Of course it's true, we've got connections above!"
The restaurant boss laughed and continued: "Whenever a new Cave appears, we can make a killing; I really hope the frequency of Cave appearances increases..."
He hadn't finished speaking when the assistant beside him interrupted.
"Boss, you can't just talk nonsense like that!"
"It's fine, there's no one wearing military uniforms around here..."
Lu Jing glanced at the restaurant boss, walked past quickly, and continued toward the more prosperous living area ahead.
The sky had completely darkened.
On the distant coastline, many cargo ships were still waiting to enter port.
Lights lit up one after another, reflecting on the sea surface and complementing the starry river above, creating a uniquely captivating scene.
From time to time, one or two bugle calls rang out, loud and penetrating, their sound traveling far through the night.
Such commercial districts almost encircle the Cave, stretching for tens of miles and forming a sizable industrial chain.
After all, there are many soldiers here; the legion Dong Ningxue belongs to makes up only one percent of the total force.
Lu Jing stopped moving forward, turned around, and headed back.
"Major!"
As he was walking, a figure suddenly stepped in front of Lu Jing.
"Major Lu, Lord Seat asked me to take you to the mess hall for a meal; I just went to your dormitory but didn't see you..."
A girl in military uniform stared at Lu Jing with wide eyes, her face full of curiosity and excitement.
"Don't call me Major yet; I haven't officially taken the post, and the rank hasn't been conferred."
Lu Jing quickly explained.
"It was Lord Seat who told me to call you that; he said you would be one sooner or later."
The girl replied, then turned her head to lead the way, "Major Lu, come with me; the mess hall's food is free."
"Alright, I'm a bit hungry."
Lu Jing smiled and followed.
After a short while, Lu Jing, led by the girl, arrived in front of a spacious workshop.
Steam continued to billow out of the workshop, and rich aromas of meat wafted into the air.
Inside, tables and chairs filled the space, and many soldiers in uniform were feasting heartily.
The moment Lu Jing stepped into the mess hall, someone shouted.
"Major Lu has arrived!"
Swish—
Everyone neatly set down their utensils, stood up, and performed a solemn military salute.
Pairs of eyes full of respect and admiration fixed on Lu Jing's face.
"Hello, Major Lu!"
