Chapter 359: Leaked List

~7 min read 1,261 words

Chen Yongren first arrived, in one of the contact group's activity range alleys, he put away the Any Door, found the group leader, and immediately notified him using the emergency code.

No matter what he and the group members were doing, they all entered the safe house; no matter what happened outside, all actions were forbidden, awaiting further notice.

The emergency code Chen Yongren used had extremely high authority; basically only when a major region faced life-or-death would it be taken out and used.

The leader also sensed the danger, without asking further, he urgently arranged for the members to retreat, and at the same time, following orders, left some small gifts in the room.

After arranging this group, Chen Yongren ducked into another alley, quickly changed his appearance and outfit, and hurried to the next location.

Guard dogs were on duty in the office, so there was no need to worry about someone suddenly breaking in.

The number of times the Any Door could be opened had not increased, and Chen Yongren had not abused its uses, saving it for emergency moments.

When Chen Yongren met Chen Shu again, he was extra cautious, only telling him the team roster and not revealing the location of the group members' safe house.

Even the handwriting was not his usual habit, so he need not fear being investigated.

While Chen Yongren was urgently notifying the team members, Fujiwara Chikata also arrived at the agency prison.

The old devil's face showed unprecedented excitement, after all this guy was the highest-authority Chinese agent he had captured so far!

Deputy Section Chief of the Military Statistics Bureau Songhu Area, who knows how much intelligence could be squeezed out of him.

Just this identity alone was enough to quell the Army Ministry's anger.

Chen Shu sat with his head drooping in the chair; he never expected the accident to come faster than he imagined.

While happily transporting goods, he was suddenly seized by the devils and brought to this damned place.

For now he was only in a Japanese secret police cell, but next there were people from 76 waiting for him.

Chen Shu's complexion was terrible; he also didn't know how much longer he could endure.

While his mind was wandering, Chen Shu suddenly saw a Japanese officer in a colonel's uniform walk from the cell door to his side.

"Kill me, I won't say anything." Upon seeing Fujiwara Chikata, Chen Shu tilted his head to one side.

Fujiwara Chikata showed contempt, casually waving his hand.

Two shirtless Japanese lackeys, one on each side, smirked as they approached; soon the whip's strikes mingled with Chen Shu's anguished cries.

The beating lasted ten or so minutes.

Fujiwara Chikata stepped forward, sneering, "Mr. Chen, can we talk now?"

Chen Shu glanced at Fujiwara Chikata, then lowered his head and remained silent.

Fujiwara Chikata said coldly, "Continue."

The two Japanese lackeys continued torturing Chen Shu.

Chen Shu's anguished cries continued to echo inside the room.

"Section Chief Chen, you have an old saying: 'He who understands the times is a true talent.' I think you are a very smart person and will grasp this." Fujiwara Chikata said calmly, looking at the anguished Chen Shu.

"You come from the Military Statistics Bureau; I often hear people recount your heroic deeds—you should have a broader future."

Under the relentless whip strikes, and hearing the old devil Fujiwara's seductive words nearby, Chen Shu's expression wavered slightly.

Seeing this, Fujiwara Chikata seized the moment: "You clearly have the bearing of a section chief, yet you're engaged in the trade of selling supplies at a loss—truly a case of great talent wasted."

"Mr. Chen, the Locust Army values talent; if you are willing to surrender to the Locust Army, we will absolutely not disappoint you."

Seeing Chen Shu still gritting his teeth and refusing to declare his stance, Fujiwara Chikata bluntly said, "Stop, to the electric chair."

Upon hearing that, Chen Shu finally showed a hint of fear on his face.

He knew all too well how terrifying this was; even if the mental and physical torment were bearable, the bodily harm it caused could not be reversed.

Before Chen Shu could react, the two Japanese soldiers untied his ropes and dragged him, one on each side, toward the electric chair.

Chen Shu hurriedly confessed his background, but Fujiwara still had no intention of letting up.

"Wait, please wait, what do you want to know?" Chen Shu urgently asked.

The two Japanese soldiers stopped, looking toward Fujiwara Chikata.

"Who is Huang Shu Lang?" Fujiwara Chikata quickly asked: "Where is he, and what is his current identity?"

"Huang Shu Lang, I've never heard of him." Chen Shu shook his head blankly.

Seeing Chen Shu's bewildered expression, it didn't look like he was pretending.

Huang Shu Lang is a senior agent; Chen Shu has only just arrived in Songhu, so it's normal not to know his background.

Fujiwara Chikata then changed the question: "And that car—you know, your black automobile that can run on land and sail on water?"

"How could such a car possibly exist?" Chen Shu grew even more bewildered.

"If I really had such a car, I would have long since driven away—so how could I have been caught by you here?"

Seeing Fujiwara Chikata's face darken, Chen Shu hurriedly said, "Although I am the deputy section chief, I've only been in Songhu for a few days."

"I'm not familiar with much of the business, so I can't obtain any valuable intelligence."

Chen Shu made a final attempt to struggle, hoping to bluff his way through.

"Mr. Chen, you're terribly dishonest—do you take me for a child?"

"As the deputy section chief of the Songhu Area, you don't know a single piece of valuable intelligence?"

"Since you are so uncooperative, don't blame us for being harsh."

Fujiwara Chikata irritably waved his hand; the two Japanese soldiers pressed him onto the electric chair, immobilizing his wrists and ankles.

No matter how Chen Shu struggled, it was to no avail.

"The list—I have a copy on me, the personnel roster of the Songhu Area!" Seeing the Japanese soldier about to press the electric chair's switch, Chen Shu shouted loudly.

Fujiwara Chikata said nothing, merely waving his hand lightly to signal continuation.

"Section Chief, this roster was personally given to me by the Songhu Area Section Chief; I swear I didn't deceive you!" Chen Shu strained with all his might to break free.

"Songhu Area Section Chief?" Fujiwara Chikata's eyes lit up, signaling his subordinates to stop.

"That's right; I wanted to better mobilize personnel for smuggling, and also to understand the Songhu Area's work, so I asked him for a personnel roster." Chen Shu's face was ashen.

"Otherwise, how could I allocate manpower to assist my smuggling of goods?"

"Where is the list?" Tengyuan Jintai asked urgently.

The entire Songhu personnel list?

Tengyuan Jintai could even imagine what honor and commendation he would receive after pulling them all out.

Once captured, the Military Statistics Bureau Songhu Area will suffer an unprecedented blow; by then, whether they are yellow weasels or black weasels, they will all have to die!

All problems are no longer problems.

"International Settlement Shanhaiguan Road, No. 16 Compound, under the third floor tile counting from the doorway in the bedroom." Chen Shu lowered his head.

Tengyuan Jintai looked at the Japanese beside him, who immediately understood, preparing to start arresting people according to the list.

Suddenly.

Tengyuan Jintai then realized another problem: "Have you seen the district chief of the Songhu Area?"
