Chapter 385: Dr. Clef was not brutally attacked by Dr. Kondraki
"So that's how it is."
"I have gradually come to understand everything."
"Dr. Clef was just scaring the 'Witch Child' as a daily routine, but she actually thought he was going to kill her... How should I put it? The cause of the whole incident is too absurd, but when you think about it being an event related to the Foundation, there is a hint of horror hidden within the absurdity."
"I didn't expect it... Dr. Clef thought he wouldn't be affected by the 'Witch Child's' abilities, yet he was the only one in the entire incident to fall for it."
"How embarrassing, Dr. Clef."
"... And it caused such severe losses to Site-17; there's no way he'll get a pardon for this, no matter how you look at it."
Inside the Foundation's medical wing, the air was thick with the suffocating, pungent smell of disinfectant.
Dr. Kondraki showed no reaction to this; he walked calmly through the white corridor, checking the nameplates on the doorframes one by one.
Then he pushed the door open and entered, seeing a man leaning against a wooden chair, nearly asleep.
"Clef."
Dr. Kondraki said to him.
By the time he entered the room, Dr. Clef had already woken up and identified the visitor.
But he still waited for the other party to greet him first before removing his fedora from his face, looking at the other man with his three-colored eyes, and responding casually.
"Konny."
There was nothing more.
One stood, one sat, staring at each other without a word, letting the silence burn on.
This beginning was quite normal.
Not long ago, the two had been at each other's throats with the intent to kill.
Compared to starting a life-or-death struggle five seconds after meeting,
this lukewarm greeting was already quite polite.
Dr. Kondraki curled his lip, a flash of displeasure crossing his face, almost imperceptible.
But Dr. Clef's three-colored eyes were fixed on him the whole time.
Therefore, the seated doctor asked:
"How is your leg?"
"I'll be fine. How are your face, eyes, ears, and the rest of your body?"
"They hooked me up to a pendant for a few minutes. Enough to heal me without turning me into a monster."
【Pendant: 'SCP-427', obtained by 'fine-processing' the 'Panacea' through 'SCP-914'.】
Dr. Kondraki immediately showed a look of regret: "What a pity. It might have actually improved your personality."
Dr. Clef smiled: "I missed you too."
Once these words were out, Dr. Kondraki didn't know what else to say.
This wasn't a case of a couple in the honeymoon phase unable to find a topic.
Unless you count trying to kill each other and attempting to shove a great sword into the other's body as romance.
Then the emotions between them could definitely be considered fiery, perhaps even life-or-death.
Dr. Kondraki bent down and pulled up a chair to sit.
Dr. Clef shook his head slightly, trying to ease the atmosphere:
"How is the girl?"
Dr. Kondraki adjusted his posture while subconsciously reaching for his camera.
But this time, he grabbed at empty air.
Only then did he remember that his precious camera had been temporarily confiscated by the O5 Council to assess the danger.
He looked back at the other man, his eyes somewhat gloomy:
"She's in a coma."
"After what she and that dragon did at the site, Gears knocked her out on the spot."
"They thought it would be better to keep her in that state, so they locked her in a room lined with Telekill."
Dr. Clef leaned forward slightly and asked softly:
"Who did they send to monitor her?"
"Valdason."
Dr. Clef nodded, lost in thought.
"What a poor girl."
"That's hilarious,"
Dr. Kondraki gave a somewhat mocking smile, his gaze fixed aggressively on Dr. Clef, "Coming from someone who once tried to kill her."
But immediately after, Dr. Kondraki knew that Dr. Clef's malice still persisted. ===== CHAPTER 387 =====
