Chapter 657

~7 min read 1,271 words

Instead, it was like a fan meeting their idol in a frenzy.

But such doubts did not last long.

A scholar who would later leave their name in all of human history soon organized the other party's various behaviors:

The time node where the other Foundation was located was in the future;

The other party did not know their information beforehand, yet the moment they met, they called out their real name;

And they were incredibly excited.

The result was obvious.

They must have made quite important contributions in the field of scientific research later on, perhaps even milestone achievements, to be able to stand out from this era of brilliant stars and be remembered by future generations.

This was naturally good news.

But O5-7 had not yet made those achievements and felt they were unworthy of such fanatical gazes or being worshipped as an idol.

"Let's skip the pleasantries," he waved his hand.

"I heard you want to disclose some information to us. Is it related to 'SCP-Laplace'? I don't know if you have researched it, but—"

The Doctor raised his hand, interrupting O5-7.

"If you want to know what happened in ▇48, I can tell you later."

His expression was serious: "Professor, I have more urgent matters to inform you of."

"Please, go ahead."

The Doctor raised his right hand and casually summoned a virtual screen.

"To be honest... I am the person in charge of the Foundation's 'Ye Ming Project' in our universe."

As he spoke, the screen flew in front of the camera, and lines of text appeared.

"Perhaps you haven't heard of this project. Then let me briefly show you this report."

While O5-7 marveled at how future technology was like magic, he shifted his attention to the 'Ye Ming Project' file.

Just then.

The moment he saw the document, he suspected that the communication signal had been subjected to some kind of interference, or that the brain region responsible for processing text and logical thinking was diseased.

"What is this?!"

The Doctor heard it clearly; there was surprise, confusion, and a hint of "Are you f***ing kidding me?" in that voice.

The only thing missing was seriousness and gravity.

He frowned, waved his hand to summon a new screen before him, and then his expression stiffened.

He saw that the document recorded as follows:

【SCP: 2300】

【Item #: SCP-C-1000】

【Danger Level: N/A】

【Item Description:】

【The following content requires 5/C-1000 level clearance.】

【Any unauthorized access will be treated as a containment breach.】

【You will be executed on the spot, regardless of your base clearance.】

【Alright, you've seen this far.】

【Then... f*** the Foundation.】

【I don't know how long this document can be kept. The stuff about clearance levels earlier is f***ing made up, just so overly cautious Level 5 personnel and low-level staff don't look any further.】

【I put this document in the C-Division database... for that same purpose.】

【If you've seen it, you're probably an AIC or a curious baby with a death wish.】

【F***, I really don't know if I've discovered something I shouldn't have seen... damn it, I don't understand.】

【...】

The file content flashed by, and other content was not displayed.

However.

The small interlude was like a thunderclap on flat ground, immediately inciting the audience's desire to discuss.

"Huh? What is this? A joke SCP, or a Foundation joke document?"

"Regardless of the outcome for this staff member, they have earned my respect... Do you want to be a coward for a lifetime, or do you intend to be a hero for once, even if only for a few minutes?"

"I think you're all missing the point. What does the real file for 'SCP-C-1000' actually look like? And why would this engineer risk execution by the Foundation to stir up trouble?"

"Could it be that even in the future where the file is located, the entire civilization could still collapse? And then this engineer saw something and broke down?"

"Ahem..." The Doctor's expression was somewhat awkward.

He made a few gestures, signaling O5-7 to wait a moment, then turned off the microphone.

Then, O5-7 could only see the Doctor roaring at something.

After a while, the Doctor turned the microphone back on:

"Sorry, there was a small problem."

"An engineer from C-Division changed the hidden page of our hidden page and ranted on it."

"Obviously, they thought C-1000 was really just an empty page. The ISD is already handling this."

"No, don't worry, it's just memory deletion."

Seeing O5-7's suspicious look, the disbelief written in their eyes, the Doctor could only try his best to whitewash the guy's fate.

How the Foundation punishes personnel who make mistakes, O5 Council member number 7 clearly knew much better than him.

"Sorry, I've made you laugh just now... You know, even in our era, there are still many tasks that must rely on human labor to complete."

"Human labor... people always have their own thoughts. When they don't know what they are facing, they always think too much, uh, and some even do some unnecessary things."

"Alright, now let's get back to the point... I have transmitted the complete file, including the problematic parts."

The Doctor cleared his throat and began to summarize the general content of C-1000.

"In at least 58% of the timelines we have observed, a subversive disaster will occur in the year 2300."

"Simply put, around the year 2300, anomalies will attack all places where humans exist on a large scale."

"Regardless of whether humans are living on Earth or in space at this time, this disaster will arrive as scheduled."

"... Thank you for telling me this." O5-7 nodded.

"But I want to know, by telling me this, is there something you want me to do?"

The other party exists in a future world line; whether it is research on SCPs or research on basic disciplines, they must be far ahead.

O5-7 didn't know for a moment why the other party mentioned their situation.

It's not like they could start preparing for the potential anomalous disaster of 2300 right now, could they?

The time span was too large.

The Foundation and the 'Chaos Insurgency' could only prioritize dealing with the impending catastrophe that would sweep across the entire civilization in the near future.

But as soon as the Doctor spoke, O5-7 was completely shocked.

"I hope you do as we did... In our world, the Foundation has already failed."

"Hundreds and thousands of timelines have failed as well, but I believe it's not too late yet. As long as there is a glimmer of hope, we will not give up."

O5-7 took a deep breath and took the freshly printed C-1000 file from the assistant.

"I will study this report."

"Also, I would like to ask—because this matter is more urgent for us—what happened in your history in ▇48?"

"▇48, huh... nothing happened."

"Nothing... at all?"

O5-7 furrowed his brows, unable to believe it.

Could it be that 'Ger▇any' and the 'Führ▇r', as well as the world war they ignited, were just a coincidence of coincidences?

"I can't say that either." The Doctor pursed his lips, pinching his chin, seemingly thinking about how to explain it.

A moment later, he looked up:

"That year, one of our SCPs was independently discovered by many countries and then made public."

"Because it was a state action, it was difficult for us to stop it, so... we changed our method, wrote it into the normal file, and activated the 'Khu-Dhu Protocol'."

"It counts as one of the few total failures in the Foundation's history."

O5-7: "In other words, the norm was completely changed?"
