Chapter 898: The Final Gaze

~4 min read 765 words

【—Data Analysis in Progress—】

【Benchmark Time Tick (Huang Shi): 45.2999】

【Dear Alice, Christina.】

【I need you to make all preparations within this Antarctic site zone.】

【Everything is about to enter the endgame!】

【You must head toward the "Storm Land" and eventually pass through it. This must be done by yourselves; I cannot help you.】

"Even if you say so..."

Alice shook her head.

When the Foundation evacuated from the Antarctic site, they had basically cleared out everything important—Reality Anchors, Mind-Blocking Alloy, various weapons and equipment that transcended the era... not a single thing left.

After running through the warehouses of every wing, she hadn't found anything that could be of use in the upcoming operation.

She was somewhat unwilling to give up, even touring the containment rooms, but the result was still nothing.

—As for the food and drinks consumed during the revelry, they were produced directly by the Foundation's synthesis facilities; the only cost was electrical energy.

These survival supplies, which were incredibly expensive in the apocalypse, belonged to items that did not occupy the budget for the Foundation; even if lost in large quantities, there was no need to report it.

Just then, Christina walked into the room.

She was holding a "long coat" with considerable weight, the fabric of the garment shimmering with white light under the lamps.

"Miss Alice, look at this protective suit."

Christina's tone carried obvious excitement, reminding Alice of those special groups in the Old Era known as "Raiders of the Lost Ark."

She spread the garment out on the table:

"I found it in the room to the west. It's the only one left, but coincidentally, it fits my size perfectly."

Alice rested her head on her hand, examining the girl's "trophy."

It looked a bit like a spacesuit, featuring a fully enclosed helmet, a built-in exoskeleton, a layer of nano-coating covering the limbs and torso, and a Foundation logo on the left chest.

But none of that was important.

Most importantly, a small emergency Reality Anchor was installed at the waist; although it couldn't compare to the portable Reality Anchors of the "Messengers," having one was better than having none.

Right?

With all these features combined, Alice, an old Foundation hand, recognized what it was at a glance.

"Oh, good luck."

"This is a new type of protective suit, developed by the Foundation after the Great Fading arrived."

"It has a built-in small Reality Anchor to deal with emergency reality collapse events."

If used to confront a Reality Bender, the effect this Reality Anchor could provide was not much different from the "victory underwear" the girl was wearing.

A thin layer, collapsing at a touch; it just didn't add attack speed or critical hit chance.

But it can still manage to protect the wearer from the sudden outbreaks of reality collapse and reality restructuring.

However, if the environment itself was affected on a large scale—like the geological changes in Huang Shi—whether the wearer could survive was up to fate.

"Look here—see this button?" Alice pointed to the waist.

The device looked somewhat like a Kamen Rider belt, with a button on each side. Alice pointed to one of them:

"If you press it, the one-time small anchor will activate, lasting for about five seconds, enough for you to escape from any collapse event."

"The other button here is a distress signal button..."

As she spoke, Alice pressed it.

Instantly, the personal terminal screen on the table lit up and vibrated continuously.

"Look—press it, and it will show up on my terminal."

Christina opened her mouth, forming an "O" shape, as if looking at a rare treasure, continuously stroking the protective suit.

Suddenly, she remembered something:

"Won't this Reality Anchor trigger a time radiation backlash?"

There were at least four hundred years of time chasing behind her.

If she activated the Reality Anchor and let the rolling steamroller of history speed toward her, what would be left of her...

A pile of bones?

Not even slag left?

If she couldn't witness the restart of the universe with her own eyes, she felt it would be a bit of a loss.

After all, the Christina after the universe restart and the current Christina should be two different individuals.

"Probably not."

Alice was somewhat uncertain: "For a backlash event, five seconds is still too short."

Christina didn't pay much attention to this either.

"What a pity."

"I didn't find any other usable equipment."

She leaned down and folded the protective suit neatly.

After finishing this, Christina leaned close to Alice and asked, half-expectantly and half-doubtingly: ===== CHAPTER 900 =====
