Chapter 80: Capture Leiming City—this is a money-making venture

Kill!

The killing shout sounded instantly; it was Shen Tianxing's roar, then 500 assault troops followed Hong Yi and rushed into the city gate, swiftly heading up to the city tower to kill.

Shen Tianxing led the remaining 2000 veteran soldiers and 500 archers, each advancing at maximum speed; the defenders on the city tower reacted, immediately having archers draw bows and nock arrows.

But their speed was still too slow; Shen Tianxing's archers had already drawn bows and nocked arrows while charging swiftly, instantly a volley of arrows rained down on the city tower, and right after the arrow rain, the assault troops charged up.

The defenders of the west gate originally numbered just over a thousand and were not elite troops; the assault troops' strength overwhelmed them almost completely, clearing them out in less than a quarter of an hour.

Shen Tianxing led troops into the city; the five hundred archers had all gone up onto the city tower. Leiming City's west gate had a garrison point on each left and right, totaling five thousand defenders, of whom over a thousand on the city tower had already been slain.

The remaining over three thousand defenders also rushed out at maximum speed; a great battle immediately unfolded before the city gate, with Shen Tianxing leading the veteran soldiers to meet them head-on.

Hong Yi led the remaining over four hundred assault troops swiftly into the city's streets and alleys; their target was the governor's mansion, to capture the bandit by first capturing the chief.

Of course that was the mission target; certainly a party would switch places with Shen Tianxing, letting him do the killing, after all the exchange distance between the two had already reached five kilometers.

At the very moment Shen Tianxing led troops into the city, the system prompt also sounded.

"Congratulations, Host, you have triggered the beheading mission: slay Leiming City's governor Jiang Bu Fan; completing the mission yields a reward of 300,000 Killing Value points, Martial Arts Experience increased by 30%, freely choose one Ultimate Grade Martial Arts Fragment, ten thousand dan each of grain and fodder, ten thousand sets of standard equipment, and two hundred thousand taels of silver."

Veteran soldiers wearing iron armor had their defense increased, their own combat strength was also high, easily slaughtering the over three thousand city defenders; Shen Tianxing also easily obtained over fifty thousand Killing Value.

Just as Shen Tianxing, with the veteran soldiers, finished off the west gate defenders, another fifteen thousand troops appeared in the city; their weakest combat strength was First Grade Third Layer, considerably stronger than ordinary soldiers.

Unfortunately, facing Shen Tianxing and these two thousand veteran soldiers left almost no suspense; in just half an hour, the entire force was wiped out, and Shen Tianxing was already approaching the governor's mansion!

Hong Yi then led the assault troops into the governor's mansion, coincidentally seeing Governor Jiang Bu Fan; at this moment Jiang Bu Fan wore a full set of silver armor, held a battle blade, and beside him stood Jiang Bu Defeat, the commander of Leiming City, who was also Jiang Bu Fan's younger brother.

The two were planning to bring their elite troops to flee Leiming City, not because they didn't want to stay and resist, but because they had received definite news that the great army was retreating in a near-collapse manner.

The moment Hong Yi saw them, he made contact with Shen Tianxing and performed the switch; Shen Tianxing also appeared in the governor's mansion garden, raising his Dragon-Slaying Blade with a smile as he looked at Jiang Bu Fan.

"Governor, we meet again; where are you headed?"

Seeing Shen Tianxing, Jiang Bu Fan widened his eyes in disbelief.

"It's you, the Li-surnamed brat who swindled me out of 100,000 taels of silver notes; attacking Leiming City is actually you? You and Yue Yunyang must have plotted this together, right?"

After a brief moment of stunned silence, Jiang Bu Fan's pent-up anger was released at this moment.

"Dealing with you doesn't need the Yue Family Army; I only brought three thousand people in, and I owe it to the governor sending Steward Xu to come kill me, otherwise it would indeed require some effort, though it's actually quite simple."

"Someone like Steward Xu, who fears death, in his next life the governor shouldn't misjudge again; he easily opened the gate, and with your people utterly unprepared, let me take the city with ease."

Shen Tianxing also wasn't in a hurry to act; after all, Jiang Bu Fan couldn't escape, killing him would be instantaneous.

"So it's Old Xu; indeed I was blind, but don't get cocky. I'm leaving, you can't stop me."

Jiang Bu Fan still seemed confident; he had a hundred guards, all Sixth-Rank Warriors of Third Grade Sixth Layer, forged at great expense, plus he and Jiang Bu Defeat each possessed Sixth Grade Second Layer strength; turning the tables was impossible, but breaking out of the encirclement was no problem.

"It seems the governor is quite confident; fine, I'll give you a chance—now try to see if you can break out!"

Shen Tianxing wore a smile, his assault troops stood ready at the gates; meanwhile outside had long been surrounded by the veteran soldiers, while the remaining over ten thousand defenders inside the city were at this moment launching a strong assault on the governor's mansion.

However, they were simply too weak; after fighting for a long time, they had already lost nearly half their number.

"Ignorant of life and death, Defeat, brothers follow me in killing, charge out; as long as this official survives, there will surely be rich rewards, one hundred taels of gold each."

Jiang Bu Fan's words completely boosted morale; his hundred guards followed him and Jiang Bu Defeat, erupting at maximum speed, charging toward Shen Tianxing's side.

Shen Tianxing brandished his blade, stepping with the Lightning Wave Microstep, flashing past at thunderous speed; the heads of the two Jiang brothers flew off, and the system prompt sounded in his ears.

"Congratulations, Host, you have slain two Sixth-Rank Warriors, gaining 200,000 Killing Value points; item drops: Level 5 Ruby, Level 5 Yellow Gem, Level 5 Green Gem, and one million taels of silver."

"Congratulations, Host, you have completed the beheading mission, slain Leiming City's governor Jiang Bu Fan; reward: 300,000 Killing Value points, Martial Arts Experience increased by 30%, freely choose one Ultimate Grade Martial Arts Fragment, ten thousand dan each of grain and fodder, ten thousand sets of standard equipment, and two hundred thousand taels of silver."

Shen Tianxing also didn't expect these two to carry so much silver— a full million taels; of course this must be the silver notes they carried on their person, this is a drop from what they originally had, not a random system drop.

Kill!

Shen Tianxing easily disposed of the two Sixth-Rank Warriors, but the remaining hundred guards were frightened enough to halt their advance; the assault troops, however, roared in unison and charged forward at thunderous speed.

Originally intimidated by Shen Tianxing, they then discovered that the over four hundred attackers all possessed Third-Rank strength; the hundred guards were completely bewildered, and in a three-to-one situation they were utterly slain in an instant.

Another 250,000 Killing Value was added to the tally; Shen Tianxing also stretched lazily, while the assault troops cleaned the battlefield, purifying the governor's mansion—this would be Shen Tianxing's future residence.

The battle outside continued, Shen Tianxing did not intervene; the veteran soldiers, when facing enemies, could accumulate Martial Arts Experience more quickly than ordinary troop types, thereby raising their martial rank.

Another hour passed, and Shen Tianxing's ears finally heard the system prompt.

"Congratulations, Host, you have completed the side quest, captured Leiming City. Reward: 1,000,000 Killing Value, Martial Arts Experience increased by 50%, ten thousand sets of standard equipment, one thousand sets of inferior iron armor, a random Top Grade Martial Art, a random Top Grade piece of equipment, five Intermediate Lottery draws, ten Beginner Lottery draws, and fifty thousand taels of silver."
