Chapter 30: The Instructor's Final Lesson

~10 min read 1,995 words

Late at night.

The bedroom of a certain high-end guest room in the Blue Whale Mansion.

Faint glimmers of a barrier shimmered on the doors and windows, while the curtains around the cage‑style large wooden bed in the middle of the room were all let down, partitioning the interior of the bed into a fairly private space.

Above the wooden bed floated firefly‑like points of light, flickering here and there, just like a sky full of stars.

In the darkness, Selena's voice sounded: "Anna, I truly envy you."

"What do I have to envy?"

"Because you have a good brother who respects you. You were able to marry your beloved smoothly, and you also received your brother's support and blessing."

"Speaking of just that, my brother is indeed good."

Lady Agneth sighed: "But my brother also has his flaws, such as his fondness for beauties, which has resulted in illegitimate children everywhere, and it has also deeply hurt my sister‑in‑law."

Selena, on the other hand, thought it didn't matter: "All men like beauties; my father was very fond of them."

"But this isn't entirely their fault."

"They hold tremendous power and wealth, so many young, beautiful women devote all their thoughts to seducing them; a little indulgence naturally leads to illegitimate children everywhere."

"But I think, as long as your brother adheres to principle, always puts his sister‑in‑law first, and doesn't entertain the crooked idea of passing his title to an illegitimate child, that's enough."

Lady Agneth laughed: "Then my brother isn't that outrageous; at home he also greatly respects his wife."

But she immediately sighed: "Fondness for beauties is forgivable; his biggest flaw is his love of gambling. Putting it in a trendy way, it's his love of investment."

"In his early years he was lucky, making a large sum from investments, then he got hooked, taking his money and investing everywhere—not just on Weilan Island, but also on the White Continent."

"He would put money into new large factories, ocean‑exploring fleets, or simply any good idea."

"Although nothing major has happened yet, I really worry something will go wrong—after all, he is only the Count of Weilan, with no influence on the White Continent; a single misstep could see him swindled or even robbed."

As for such matters, Selena really couldn't comment.

Because investment is a newly emerging business model, followed by stocks, futures and many other new concepts, she devotes most of her mind to studying spellcraft, so she doesn't really understand this.

She thought a moment and could only comfort: "The Count has many clever ministers advising him; surely nothing major will happen, right?"

"Let's hope so." Lady Agneth sighed.

After a moment of silence, Selena began to bring up the topic she truly wanted to ask.

"Anna, do you still often think of Arlande?"

Arlande was Anna's late husband, full name Arlande Agnite.

Lady Agneth found the question a bit strange, but she answered truthfully.

"I used to think of him often, but recently—not, I should say in the past few years—I haven't really thought about him at all."

"He's been gone for too long."

"It's been a full seven years since he left."

Selena then asked: "Do you still remember what you and Arlande did? I mean, the things a husband and wife quietly do in the bedroom."

Lady Agneth laughed: "Of course I remember; once you've experienced something like that, you never forget it in a lifetime."

Selena felt her cheeks flush, but there was no one else here, and she was also firmly protected by the Dark God, so she continued asking.

"Madam Xiuya told me the first time would be very painful?"

Madam Xiuya is the princess's governess, also serving as a living maid and adult tutor; Lady Agneth certainly knows this.

She couldn't help laughing: "Madam Xiuya is right—it really is painful. If the man is coarse and impatient, it's practically torture."

This made Selena a little afraid; she reassured herself without confidence: "Luosen looks gentle; he probably won't make me suffer too much, right?"

From childhood to now, she's barely ever even broken a blister, so she can't even imagine what torture would feel like.

Lady Agneth, however, had little confidence in Luosen.

"It's not certain; some men are gentle gentlemen by day, but become as savage as beasts at night."

"The former comes from postnatal moral education, while the latter is mostly an expression of innate nature."

"My apprentice—I'm currently having trouble reading him—but from his fighting style, I suspect he hides a wild beast within."

Selena became even more apprehensive.

Moreover, thinking that she would soon return alone with Luosen to White Sturgeon Island, with no relatives or friends around, her apprehension nearly turned into fear.

"Anna, what should we do?"

Selena's voice even trembled a little.

Seeing Selena frightened like this, Lady Agneth hurried to comfort her.

"Actually it's not that bad; the first time certainly needs gentleness, but once you get used to it, you might prefer the wild style."

But people's greatest fear comes from the unknown, and unless one experiences it personally, a mere sentence or two of comfort could never allay it.

Selena's apprehension remained deep; after thinking it over, she suddenly gritted her teeth: "Anna, why don't I have Luosen come over and you give us some guidance?"

Lady Agneth was startled, but being someone who's been through it, she quickly regained composure and even laughed.

Laughing and laughing, she nevertheless felt the hardship of her friend.

That noble princess lost her mother to illness at age ten, and her father passed away at twenty, leaving only her brother.

Moreover, she usually devotes most of her energy to spellcraft study, resulting in a great lack of common sense; now facing this situation, being almost exiled to a barren island, her fate is truly tortuous.

Think again of her apprentice, who came to her side at ten to study spellcraft, learned for ten years straight, and likewise has devoted almost all his time to spellcraft, so he must also be severely lacking in everyday knowledge.

These two, thrown together by circumstance, will surely at first live in utter chaos.

One is her bosom friend, the other is her first spellcraft apprentice she took on; with no other elders to guide them, and she herself counts as a sort of elder, since she has experience, she ought to bear the responsibility of guidance.

In fact, in a great aristocratic household, this is taken for granted.

After much thought, Lady Agneth nodded in agreement.

"All right, I'll sneak Luosen in, then I'll stand outside the bed curtains and give you pointers."

Having said that, she rustled as she put on her clothes, and quickly left the bedroom.

Selena felt her heart pounding violently, her cheeks burning like fire; she curled up in the darkness, anxiously waiting.

Time passed minute by minute, and some low talking voices came from the living room.

I don't know how Anna spoke to Luosen, but anyway the bedroom door was pushed open, and after a moment the bed curtains were drawn back, and a tall adult figure climbed onto the bed.

"Madam, the instructor sent me here; I find it hard to believe—is this really your wish?" Luosen's voice, as always gentle.

Selena's mood calmed considerably; she spoke softly: "That's right, it's my wish. After all, we've never experienced this before; to avoid mishaps, I asked Anna to give guidance."

Luosen understood, nodded in agreement: "At first it sounds strange, but upon reflection it's not a bad safe approach."

But inwardly he smirked: "In my past life I've experienced everything; why would I need teaching?"

From outside the curtains came Lady Agneth's light laugh: "Luosen, this is probably the last lesson the instructor can teach you."

Playing the part fully, Luosen immediately straightened his back and said seriously: "Instructor, I will study diligently."

Just like his demeanor in previous classes.

This made both women laugh.

Lady Agneth covered her mouth and laughed: "All right, all right, this isn't a proper lesson; don't be so serious."

Selena also laughed: "Anna, you're too strict; you've turned Luosen into a stiff little old man."

"Who made him learn so slowly?"

Lady Agneth sighed, then immediately became serious.

"Luosen, next."

Luosen took a deep breath, immediately complied, then said: "Instructor, done."

"Just listen, don't report to me!"

"Okay, instructor."

"Next is your own clothing."

Again the sound of rustling came from the canopy bed; just as Lady Agneth thought everything was normal, suddenly Selena's startled cry came, her voice filled with great fear.

Lady Agneth startled, instinctively wanted to lift the curtains to look, but she restrained herself: "What's wrong, Selena?"

After a few seconds Selena responded: "Anna, this is different from what Madame Xiuya taught; this… this is too terrifying!"

Selena's voice trembled uncontrollably, as if she had seen the most terrifying thing in the world.

Lady Agneth finally couldn't hold back and lifted the curtains.

Inside the curtains glowed a soft-light illumination spell; under its dim light, Lady Agneth finally saw the cause of Selena's fear.

She too was greatly surprised: "Luosen, did you use the Transformation Technique?"

Luosen looked innocent: "Instructor, how would I dare to misuse the Transformation Technique?"

In other words, this is a natural talent.

Selena was terrified, shaking her head repeatedly: "Anna, this will surely kill me!"

Lady Agneth, being experienced, soon calmed down.

She lowered the curtains and, through the velvet drape, softly comforted: "Don't worry, nothing will happen."

"Continue, Luosen."

"No, don't continue!" Selena's voice choked with tears: "This will surely kill me!"

"Anna, I've heard that story many times. I didn't understand why before, but now I do!"

"No, no, no, Selena, it's not what you think."

"Don't try to persuade me, Anna."

"Forget it, Luosen, let's leave it at that; although we're husband and wife, there's no need to do that—go find another woman to bear children in the future."

The sound of rustling clothing came from the bed; it seems Selena was truly frightened.

Seeing things turn out this way, Lady Agneth was anxious, turned in place, gritted her teeth, and shouted loudly.

"Selena, listen to me!"

The voice was loud and it had an effect.

"I'm listening."

"Listen to me, I won't harm you!"

After a while, Selena's voice, slightly frightened, came from behind the curtains: "All right, then what should we do now?"

"Luosen, from now on listen to my instructions; do exactly what I say, with no extra movements, understood?"

Lady Agneth's voice was very stern, just like her usual teaching.

"Yes, instructor."

She then softened her tone: "Selena, Luosen will strictly follow my words and will never harm you; do you trust me?"

"I trust you."

"Very good, now close your eyes, don't look at anything, and don't let your mind wander."

"Luosen, you go

Lady Agneth's voice paused, she seemed unable to speak, but after hesitating a few seconds she finally spoke.

Thereafter, she instructed her apprentice word by word, detailing every detail.

During this process, Lady Agneth felt a sense of absurdity lingering in her mind.

"The other day I teased Luosen about his marriage with Selena; now look, one has become his wife, the other is teaching him what to do."

"Fate really likes to toy with people."

After about ten or so minutes, sounds came from behind the curtains that made her feel both familiar and strange.

After listening a moment, Lady Agneth felt her face flush, her heart race, and her legs go weak.

Knowing that things had come to pass, she silently sighed, filled with emotion.

"Selena, my sister, you are now much happier than I am."

She smiled sadly, then quietly left the bedroom.

The first major plot ended; the second major plot begins, and we start farming in earnest.

Also: please don't ask for extras for this chapter for now; I'm currently feeling weak, can't write, I'll make it up later.
